Now you know why the previous guy add the extra hose clamp, he probably installed the engine in the car and could not reach the spring clamp with the long nose pliers so he add the worm great clamp😁. RTV on water pump was excessive, maybe you cleaned the engine side before the water pump before installing it because you did show it. I would have used the gasket on the water pump and if I had to use RTV I would use a little as possible, you don't want RTV in your engine floating around.
