    I just heard about this upgrade a few days ago, and by chance, I was checking out your site for reviews on the Stradic reels and came across this. You explained exactly what I needed to know! Thanks!

    3:23 - Shimano (Stradic FA Ci4+ 3000)
    For my next video, it's gonna be back to fishing once again. It's going to showcase some drag-screaming action! Like the video if you are looking forward to it!

    Simple but Nice upgrade !!👍🏽
    Do you have video upgrading carbontex drag washer for luvias 3012H yet...??

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Hilmys. I do not have a video of carbontex drag washer upgrade but I have done the upgrade before. In case you were looking for advice, I find the OEM drag washers much much smoother on light to medium settings versus the carbontex. Carbontex allows more drag however.

    What size bearing do I need for a shimano stradic ci4+ 1000

    Nice upgrade! What rod size do you think is the most versatile for chasing estuary species?

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Philip. There's a lot of things to consider but for lure fishing for bream, flathead, whiting and the chance of decent bycatch (salmo, trevally, mulloway and kingfish), a 2-4kg 7 foot rod is the best choice.

    I'm confused as to how replacing a bushing with a bearing improves the drag when the bushing doesn't play the part of a bearing.

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes out another point of friction that can add to the drag in an uncontrolled manner

    is it a noticable difference and do you think it's worth the 10-15 bucks?

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easily worth the money and noticeable at high drags in particular. Basically when you are asking a lot from your reel that's when you benefit the most.

    So ur upgrade is from bushing to bearings ?

    • @ShroomFishing

      Yes Mohammad, it just takes away another point of friction

    Do you know if Shimano "cross carbon" washer as on Stradic 3000 FL is same as Carbontex?

  • @nickm5415

    Good day. Can this be done to a Shimano Sahara 5000 and If so what size bearing do I get and will it be a big change... Does this also increase your Drag strenght or just the smoothness of the drag?

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nick. I don't think this can be done on the Sahara. There are some upgrades but they are internal (drive and pinion). This upgrade improves the smoothness of the drag which is more important than max drag. The increased smoothness could potentially help utilise more of a reel's max drag as it becomes more usable when it gets smoother.

    Hi Shroom, what size bearing did you order for the luvius 2004

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I ordered the bearings from Ebay - instructions on how to find it in the description. It's very easy and you don't have to think about sizes or anything of the sort. From my experience upgrading reels over the years, the size of the bearings seem to be the same for a lot of the reels e.g., certate, luvias, morethan etc. and they often fit into more than one place. A spool bearing often fits into the spool shaft bearing spot and handle bearings etc. I hope that helps.

    What is the size of the hex key for the Daiwa Luvias screw on the drive shaft?

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Eddie Torres, the Daiwa Luvias doesn't need a hex key on the drive shraft. It needs a special tool to take off the sleeve first (nut). There is already a spool support bearing in the Luvias so you won't need to open that up.

    • @eddietorres8688
      @eddietorres8688 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I apologize I meant the Ballistic 19 in this video. You need to remove the lil screw to replace the bushing with a bearing.

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eddietorres8688 Ok, I don't have that reel but I had a look at the schematic and it looks like it's different to the Luvias but more similar to other reels. It will also be a 0.9mm hex key that fits in there.

    I use inox mx3. Not sure about mx5??

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Inox mx3 is fine. I choose mx5 because it has the friction modfier PTFE which I think is good for fast moving bearings.

      I think if you are cleaning/degreasing on a regular basis you should be ok.
      The other thing ofcourse as fishermen we should i guess care what we put in our environment especially for future fishos that may well be family.
