Enjoyed this video. Long since retired diesel mechanic and worked for a Detroit dealer many years. I've had a few sawmills over the years including an automatic Forano (built in Quebec). Currently running a Laimet mill built in Finland. Had to really rethink sawing when learning on that one but works great. Perkins power on it. All the best and cheers from Nova Scotia.
There you go, Mark! Can't make sawdust unless the bus motor hums! Glad that's all it is! I always used a roller head pry bar to pop those loose, what little I worked on them which wasn't much. You'll get it! A rebuilt is good as new. Wonder if you'll have to run some additive or other because of the lo sulphur fuel and not as much lubrication. I guess talk to the guy where you're getting the rebuilt and maybe he'd know. But ye olde bus motor will hum again and sawdust will fly!. CONGRATULATION on the views and subscribers! You deserve it!
thanks Lewie , we run off road fuel which has more sulpher than on road + cheaper . We made it past one million views!! thanks to good people like you, thanks so much.
@@markgalicic7788 10/4 on the off road. And CONGRATULATIONS on the views! I just like to watch worthwhile stuff and looks like others do too! Don't get to hear a good bus motor moan just anywhere! Thank YOU & Eddie!
I am running a 60 series on my mill now but I still have my 6-71 it has 65s in it but when I had it overhauled about 15 years ago they were $40 at ark fuel injection I got injectors for a 3-53 about 2 years ago and they were $75 then but these detroits are the best motor eve
hi there sorry about your brake down . it seams like 1/2 time sawing the other 1/4 cleaning the rest fixing or tweaking something . i get all my detroit parts from a real great guy in lancaster pa . i got 4 of them about 3 years ago for $25 each . he has thousands of parts and several hundred engines . he would have anything you would ever need . realy need place to see . one barn about 100x60 full of engines floor to celling 4 high on racks . and another barn that size full of generators . take care john
Thank you for the video. We have a Hercules power unit and I dread the day something happens to it. I am no mechanic! Is a run-away Detroit in your past?I've heard stories.
When I saw (no pun intended) your "sawing clear red oak" video and the 671 you use to run it I though do you know this guy? th-cam.com/users/avonpicturethisabout
