Very good detail on the pin. It clears up any questions on how the pin works. Even with the gauge you still need the pin to get you close enough to fine tune it with the gauge in case it's severely out of adjustment. Am I correct in that statement?
Hi Tyler, we all know your dad doesn’t care much to work on engines other that 2 stroke Detroits, but do you think he might bend the rules a bit, working on a Cummins L10? Apart from being a 4 stroke, the top end looks remarkably similar to a Detroit, no electronics, and even the injectors are actuated the same way. Anyway, I hope you, Scott, and Kelly have a great Christmas, and thanks for all your videos!
I have no experience with any of this. I know you set the clearances on the valves so they open and close correctly and the injector clearance so it fires at the right time but what you are doing with that depth pin or even a gauge I simply do not understand and cannot see it well enough to figure it out. Daa! Lol Anyway. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone out there.

The pin sets the height of the injector to set timing.

@@Spyke383 If you change the height of the injector, don't you have to reset the tapet to have the proper clearance after that?
@@wernerdanler2742 you adjust valves with the feeler guages. The adjustment on the injector is set with the pin. Not feeler guages
