Labour: Loses election on a socialist manifesto
Long-Bailey: We need more socialism in the party
So far they’re handing another 5 years to the tories on a silver platter.

      Purple Turtle based on what?

The policies are actually popular, as Purple Turtle said, the loss was due to Corbyn (Leadership) and Brexit.

@@wangdangdoodie That is your right of course, but the question was concerning their popularity with the British public.

It's interesting how divided Labour is in the varying comments below some of them are disillusioned by Labour representatives but still vote for the party as a whole.

Remember voting for Tom Watson, went back on every single promise he made and stabbed the leadership in the back

Talking about how the party lost the election to the guy who left his deputy position right before election day.

part of me feels like people got the government they deserved. but also, labour got the loss it deserved. on the first, those who voted brexit will now get it, in spades. IF [and there is always an if and but, don't worry, that's coming!] it all falls down and those in the north find that, gosh, our lives aren't getting any better even after brexit and mr johnson, well, you voted him in. you asked for it, you got it. BUT if it does all work out, well, there's labour gone for another election. Our treasurer is playing it wisely for a budget in March. Let's see what the finances are like after March 31. What's the bet if it all goes badly, suddenly all those promises to the north just can't be afforded and they get nothing? Where to for the labour voter after that? Labour better have something to address their needs.
And Labour? Well, they've learnt that a doctoral thesis on brexit as a policy, or any policy these days, won't work anymore. You have 3 or 6 words max now to say what you want. You can winge and whine all you want about how it is in politics now, but that's where we are now. Leave the intellectual snobbery at the door please. Labour voters don't need it. Either play by the new rules, or lose. Get a leader who can lead too. If an issue is raised, deal with it. Even if you don't think it is a problem. Anti-semitism? Show the expulsions. That was a disgrace for the party. Don't believe those who say it wasn't. The evidence was all over the internet. One mark, you're out should have been the policy. It was as bad as Johnson saying 'What cameras?' The anti-semitism and cameras were right in front of our eyes.
I wish I was able to wake up early enough to call in. Alas, I'm disabled and mornings are the worst for me! That number again....:-]

@@hlund73 i'm laughing. prime minister cummings is now in full control. will the budget happen on 11/3? it is interesting though. now that there is a wealth of tory mp's, there's now a wealth of opportunity for disagreement with the cummings govt in the house. sit back and watch....

I would be wary on anti semitism, there are a lot of bogus claims tied to Israel instead of the Jewish community.
