If it is a hoax, then Patterson and Gimlin deserve props for creating one of the most analyzed and fascinating films ever made. It just always makes for great debate.

@@gallusderp3513 you can search it up or watch documentaries related to it, or go to Dr Melba Ketchum’s studies or twitter. You will find possible DNA evidence that only can be related to humans locally (But they indicate what ever left the DNA sources, is part human and part unknown ape). This hints that any signs of partial human DNA found in Bigfoot sighting areas can potentially belong to what ever Bigfoot is.
If it is a hoax it's an incredibly well done one and shows a degree of technical skill very few had/have. Not saying it's not a hoax, but it's strange that something supposedly done so cheaply by amateurs should have stood up to the most minute analysis without being totally discredited....
The thing is, back in those days you didn't have to be *that* good to pull a successful hoax. Film was blurry, TV screens were blurry, there was no Google, no Wikipedia, no comment section below the video... if the same vid was created today it would never fly, but back then it fooled enough people to take root as a cultural myth.
Fair point. But the footage has been subject to pretty thorough analysis since-admittedly not always impartial or very professional, but sometimes that has been the case. But like I said- I'm not saying it's real. But I do find it of interest.@@Kragatar

Yet 60 years later with much more advanced film analysis abilities, it holds up to scrutiny..in fact the closer and clearer we make it, the more realistic we realize it is. If this is a suit, then the hoaxers would have gone so far beyond what was necessary at the time its absurd, and would have had to been experts on anatomy and locomotion to be able to accurately reproduce individual muscle groups moving under the skin, exactly as they would be irl, even the gait and the tracks would have been ridiculously difficult to fake
for one thing, way back then there were no suits that could look that real or be able to move that fast in, Patti was going at a brisk pace. 2nd, if someone were going to fake a Big Foot back then, i highly doubt they would have thought to make it female.

The film is over 50 years old and has been analyzed over and over even with the leap in technology there has been over the decades and all it has done has made it even more of a mystery and raised more questions. Let that sink in. I think this video finally deserves credibility. These men were no rich professional Hollywood makeup artists. Whatever they filmed that day was not human
Well it actually is a type of human. Just a but different to us. DNA studies have come back with human female as mother and unknown father. There are books and studies in this. Google it if you're truly interested.

What this clip doesn't say is that Bob Heironimus had to take a lie detector test four times before he finally passed. He also didn't remember how the suit went on, but then later said it was two-piece, which contradicted Phillip Morris, a custom maker who claimed he made the suit and said it was one piece, but then later couldn't reproduce the same suit using even modern materials. I'm not saying BF exists or not, rather I'm only pointing out that when examining evidence for it being real or a hoax, you must look closely at ALL of it, not just that which supports your personal belief.

Moreover, Patterson, as widely reported, attempted to purchase an ape suit prior to filming the "real McCoy." Well, what are the odds that the man would fail to acquire a suit -- for whatever reason -- yet stumble across the genuine thing?
the burden of proof isnt on anyone to prove the film is a hoax, it is on bigfoot believers to show that the creature really exists. definitive proof would require an actual body, dead or alive, and confirmed by science. until then, analyzing the film is a giant waste of time.

The suit could have easily been modified to break into 2 pieces, a horse hide overlay could have been used as well. Patterson, although a known bullshitter, was highly intelligent - intelligent people can pull stuff off like this. Let me ask you a question? At the turn of the 20th century, how many thousands of people were 'fooled' to buy those 'miracle' tonics which promised to cure all kinds of ailments? What’s interesting is that there was no way for the guys that filmed this to know that 40 years in the future there would be technology that could enhance, stabilize and analyze the film. So why not just make a crappy basic suit where it’s hard to discern anything from the shaking. Yet now that the film is enhanced and stabilized we can see muscles and ass crack??? Makes you think, maybe it is real.
Also some people who analyzed the film say that it's practically impossible for a human to be shaped like that and to walk like that. And a suit like that wouldn't appear in hollywood for another 40 or so years.
New theory as to why Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin got so close to the Bigfoot; Sasquatch are generally considered nocturnal creatures, so their eyes would have evolved for night vision ( some people have described their eyes as glowing, like the inside of a mirror ). Therefore its vision would have been poor during the day, so Patterson, Gimlin and their horses may have appeared as two blurry objects to the Bigfoot, and not known that they were humans until the last minute.

As if it's impossible for a person to lie to a lie detector and pass. The polygraph lie detector test is flawed due to the fact that it's detection is determined solely by how nervous a person is. If a person is very nervous, the cursor will scribble fast. If they're calm then they won't get picked up by cursor scribble.
That's kinda ONE way a person can beat the machine. There's more than one way to defeat a polygraph. Mind over matter sorta thing. Also, knowing how to tense the muscles in the chest area just right, without it being noticed by the person administering the test. A sociopath or psychopath can beat the test because the have no conscience. The thought and fear of going to prison is what sets off most people's biological/physical reaction, therefore failing the test when blood pressure and heart rate go up. But a person can be trained how to beat the test, or they can have prior knowledge of how it works and can concentrate hard enough to beat it.

The Patterson-Gimlin film is the gold standard. No other Bigfoot footage looks as convincing or is better than this. Just one problem - we still don't have one of these in a zoo, or a dead one on a slab in a lab, or bones of the creature in sufficient quantity. Thus, the idea of Bigfoot remains a cryptid for now.

The video could be a hoax now, but to film it with such a complex costume and the length of the hand that is abnormal to humans is impossible. I believe that this video is genuine.
How much did we even know about Bigfoot before this film? How many details would they have known to put into a suit back then? And why go to the trouble of making it more complex by adding breasts? Would they have had the foresight to put in such minute details because they somehow knew that 50 years later we'd have the technology to look at the film more closely and detect those details? Besides, thousands of reports since then have been made that seem credible. Just wish we had more concrete evidence now!

A man went looking to film a bigfoot for a bigfoot film he was making and lo and behold one walked right in front of them. These apparently terrifically shy creatures just strolled along its way glancing once and strolled on. It would have seen the men and horses long before they saw it but it made no attempt to hide. A person out in the woods specifically looking for a bigfoot in areas where they were known to be would be far more likely to film one that someone stumbling on one accidentally. And its believed the bigfoot never heard them coming because of the sound of the creek. They probably stumbled upon her when she went down for a drink.
He was filming the tracks reported a month before. He arrived too late for those, but got a living female bigfoot on film. No one makes a female ape suit. It's stupid to say that.

I am from western Washington state, and about 20 years ago, I saw a hairy biped. It was absolutely not a bear or any mundane animal, but it also didn’t look anything like any rendering of “Bigfoot” that I’ve ever seen. It was somewhere around 5’10” to 6’ and had patchy, sable colored fur, like a mangy German Shepherd. I could not see its face. It ran across the road in front of my car. I don’t believe in “Bigfoot”, but I have never been able to explain what I clearly saw.
I first saw this footage years ago as a kid on "In Search Of" with Leonard Nimoy. In my view, the footage shows an object with very large muscle mass whose gait is atypical of that of a human.
I first saw this as a kid too, but on "Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World" It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and I still remember this weird overwhelming feeling that this thing is absolutely real. Kids know better.

I believe in bigfoot but I'm skeptical about this famous sighting being real. For one thing it doesn't look like all the other sightings. It seems to calculated and bigfoot is too out in the open. How come none of the other videos since have bigfoot being so casual about it being looked at?

I haven't seen the stabilized version before; there is clear and uncanny muscle movement under the fur the knee doesn't fold like a costume, those details have me perplexed. The first time I saw the Patterson-Gimlin film was on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries back in the early 90s. You know when you're a kid & watch a horror movie, you're terrified because the special effects look so real, but you watch the same movie 30 years later & it doesn't pack quite the same punch because the effects look dated? I haven't gotten that impression yet from the Patterson-Gimlin footage. It looks like a living, breathing creature going about its business because it is (or was) an actual living, breathing creature! If it were a suit, despite all the aforementioned technical capabilities, it'd have to be someone that was incredibly tall (which polygraph guy just doesn't visually match up with) & the costume would have to be so uncomfortably form fitting to where we can make out muscle definition decades later. It's actually sillier to believe this was someone in a costume at this point.

When the creature looks back its face raises a red flag: it is clearly a man looking through a cutout in an ape suit. The creature is moving awkwardly, which is understandable as wearing such a large and heavy ape suit must be highly uncomfortable. This doesn't mean that bigfoot does not exist, it is just that this one is a hoax.

The suit was made by Mr. Morris of Morris Costumes right here in Charlotte NC. I used to talk to Mr. Morris about this suit. He was paid $600.00 to make it and was told nothing about why it was being made. I asked him what he thought after seeing the video and the claims, he said, people will do some crazy shit for recognition and laughed.

Morris gave him advice on how to make adjustments to the shoulders and fur. The resulting suit was much different then the one Phillip sent, but still a big fat fake.

The film is very intriguing indeed. Very, VERY well made. Hieronimous has the same type of walk as the "creature" though, a walk that has often been said to be "impossible to replicate". I don't see what many so-called experts see in the film, for instance the muscles. Fact of the matter is, it was taken with an old, portative 16 mm camera, and the details aren't of high definition. So, seeing the muscles and so on requires imagination, and the use of the fuzziness of the film, the lights and shadows, etc. The face, despite once again, the fact that it was taken from far off and is therefore fuzzy, remains impressive when you increase the size. But you don't see the details that would allow a precise analysis. Yet, I remember being impressed when I saw the first film they made with it in a cinema. I thought it would be a horror movie and was dissapointed back then, to see a boring documentary. But the face moment was somewhat intense. What mainly strikes me as fake though, is that corset. You see the person inside is paded all around his back, and probably the front, with a pretty thick band of something, of rubber or what have you. You clearly see that band in the back, going from above the butt to the place of the shoulder blades if not higher. It's a bit as if the trunk of that guy was put in a tube adorned with breasts and furr. Also, the soles of the "creature", despite the toes, are obviously not skin. You can see these are soles, rubber soles, imho. I'm still not sure about bigfoot though. I'd give it a 95% chances of being false. But I still leave a tiny spot of oppenness for it. Yes, there are a lot of testimonies. But people are so prone to interpret what they see with preconceived notions, when they aren't sure of what they're seeing. Also prone to make up facts if only to attract attention.

Many people have said that it's a hoax because of the way it turns to the camera to look at it, instead of just walking away from it and not even glancing back. Ever come across a stray dog or cat and it walks away from you because it's scared? They will usually turn and look back at you to see if you are following them the same way.

I was always amazed by how realistic the Chewbacca suit in Star Wars looked. Because it didn't look like someone in a suit. Chewie's hair was long though, and if it had been short I guarantee you wouldn't see that muscle movement underneath. It's too damn impressive to be a suit. 1. This was pre-planet of the apes and supposedly 2 cowboys created it? 2. They gave it boobs. 3. They filmed it in broad daylight. 4. The leg bend is more than a human, where the heel rises. If a hoaxer hoaxes bigfoot, they film partial body in low lighting and film it very steadily and the begin and end of the footage is oddly cut short. I mean there's so many hoaxes and they always cut corners, either because they're lazy or can't pull it off or afford a decent costume or simply are too dumb to realize how fake it looks. Think back to 1967, this might have been the first shaky cam footage. But yeah, I've seen a lot of bigfoot footage and maybe only a single handful of videos feel real to me, while they others are clearly fake. The Mississippi one looks good, the Freeman footage looks good, and just a couple others.
You gotta further back than Star Wars for actors in suits. For instance, this video was shot before the original "Planet of the Apes" starring Charlton Heston and the ape suits that were available at that time didn't even come close to what you see in this video. If someone made this suit. He should have gone to Hollywood and been a costume designer and made millions. The film is over 50 years old and has been analyzed over and over even with the leap in technology there has been over the decades and all it has done has made it even more of a mystery and raised more questions. What this clip doesn't say is that Bob Heironimus had to take a lie detector test four times before he finally passed. He also didn't remember how the suit went on, but then later said it was two-piece, which contradicted Phillip Morris, a custom maker who claimed he made the suit and said it was one piece, but then later couldn't reproduce the same suit using even modern materials. the burden of proof isnt on anyone to prove the film is a hoax, it is on bigfoot believers to show that the creature really exists. definitive proof would require an actual body, dead or alive, and confirmed by science. until then, analyzing the film is a giant waste of time.

So why not just make a crappy basic suit where it’s hard to discern anything from the shaking. Yet now that the film is enhanced and stabilized we can see muscles and ass crack??? Makes you think, maybe it is real.
Also some people who analyzed the film say that it's practically impossible for a human to be shaped like that and to walk like that. And a suit like that wouldn't appear in hollywood for another 40 or so years.

New theory as to why Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin got so close to the Bigfoot; Sasquatch are generally considered nocturnal creatures, so their eyes would have evolved for night vision ( some people have described their eyes as glowing, like the inside of a mirror ). Therefore its vision would have been poor during the day, so Patterson, Gimlin and their horses may have appeared as two blurry objects to the Bigfoot, and not known that they were humans until the last minute.

The polygraph lie detector test is flawed due to the fact that it's detection is determined solely by how nervous a person is. If a person is very nervous, the cursor will scribble fast. If they're calm then they won't get picked up by cursor scribble.

Also, knowing how to tense the muscles in the chest area just right, without it being noticed by the person administering the test. The thought and fear of going to prison is what sets off most people's biological/physical reaction, therefore failing the test when blood pressure and heart rate go up. But a person can be trained how to beat the test, or they can have prior knowledge of how it works and can concentrate hard enough to beat it.

How much did we even know about Bigfoot before this film? How many details would they have known to put into a suit back then? And why go to the trouble of making it more complex by adding breasts? Would they have had the foresight to put in such minute details because they somehow knew that 50 years later we'd have the technology to look at the film more closely and detect those details? Besides, thousands of reports since then have been made that seem credible.

A man went looking to film a bigfoot for a bigfoot film he was making and lo and behold one walked right in front of them. These apparently terrifically shy creatures just strolled along its way glancing once and strolled on. It would have seen the men and horses long before they saw it but it made no attempt to hide. I mean come on.
A person out in the woods specifically looking for a bigfoot in areas where they were known to be would be far more likely to film one that someone stumbling on one accidentally. And its believed the bigfoot never heard them coming because of the sound of the creek. They probably stumbled upon her when she went down for a drink.

I am from western Washington state, and about 20 years ago, I saw a hairy biped. It was absolutely not a bear or any mundane animal, but it also didn’t look anything like any rendering of “Bigfoot” that I’ve ever seen. It was somewhere around 5’10” to 6’ and had patchy, sable colored fur, like a mangy German Shepherd. I could not see its face. It ran across the road in front of my car. I don’t believe in “Bigfoot”, but I have never been able to explain what I clearly saw.

The first time I saw the Patterson-Gimlin film was on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries back in the early 90s. You know when you're a kid & watch a horror movie, you're terrified because the special effects look so real, but you watch the same movie 30 years later & it doesn't pack quite the same punch because the effects look dated? I haven't gotten that impression yet from the Patterson-Gimlin footage. It looks like a living, breathing creature going about its business because it is (or was) an actual living, breathing creature!
If it were a suit, despite all the aforementioned technical capabilities, it'd have to be someone that was incredibly tall (which polygraph guy just doesn't visually match up with) & the costume would have to be so uncomfortably form fitting to where we can make out muscle definition decades later. Looks like a fold in the suit, that's what it looks like, not a wear pattern.
@@iagobroxado it's a discoloration/wear pattern. Does not appear to be a "fold mark" as it's too substantial. Also, it has not been proven that it was suit.

I seen that film when I was a kid with my dad twice when they were doing a national tour about it . All so met Patterson at the showings . You have too see it on a big screen to see for your self and decide if it is real or fake .

When I seen the film I was about 9 or 10 at the time and forgot all about the film I know what I heard was no bear or cougar. They don't make animals go dead silent. The suit was made by Mr. Morris of Morris Costumes right here in Charlotte NC. I used to talk to Mr. Morris about this suit. He was paid $600.00 to make it and was told nothing about why it was being made. I asked him what he thought after seeing the video and the claims, he said, people will do some crazy shit for recognition and laughed.

@John Cornell Like the article above Morris was contacted by the buyer several times after the costume was delivered to make it more realistic. Morris gave him advice on how to make adjustments to the shoulders and fur. The resulting suit was much different then the one Phillip sent, but still a big fat fake.

It’s really easy to solve this. The guy that claimed he was the one in the suit can produce the suit. Or have the one that made it make him another one. And only us the materials available in 1967, it was a cheap suit right? Should be no problem at all. Then take him to the location, have him put on the suit and film it with the same camera. We just need to be sure right? He should agree to this 100 percent to prove to us he was the one who hoaxed this correct? So the responsibility isn’t on bob gimlin, it’s on this guy who said he wore the suit. Folks? You know he can’t do it because it’s impossible. It’s a living breathing biological being with rippling muscle and tendons. There is not suit and there is no hoax. And if you still say yes please prove us wrong with instructions above.

Also, the bigfoot genome dna project was done 10 years ago by Melba. 4 universities all return the same result, human mother and unknown father. The film is very intriguing indeed. Very, VERY well made. Hieronimous has the same type of walk as the "creature" though, a walk that has often been said to be "impossible to replicate". I don't see what many so-called experts see in the film, for instance the muscles. Fact of the matter is, it was taken with an old, portative 16 mm camera, and the details aren't of high definition. So, seeing the muscles and so on requires imagination, and the use of the fuzziness of the film, the lights and shadows, etc. The face, despite once again, the fact that it was taken from far off and is therefore fuzzy, remains impressive when you increase the size. But you don't see the details that would allow a precise analysis. Yet, I remember being impressed when I saw the first film they made with it in a cinema. I thought it would be a horror movie and was dissapointed back then, to see a boring documentary. But the face moment was somewhat intense.
What mainly strikes me as fake though, is that corset. You see the person inside is paded all around his back, and probably the front, with a pretty thick band of something, of rubber or what have you. You clearly see that band in the back, going from above the butt to the place of the shoulder blades if not higher. It's a bit as if the trunk of that guy was put in a tube adorned with breasts and furr.
Also, the soles of the "creature", despite the toes, are obviously not skin. You can see these are soles, rubber soles, imho.
I'm still not sure about bigfoot though. I'd give it a 95% chances of being false. But I still leave a tiny spot of oppenness for it. Yes, there are a lot of testimonies. But people are so prone to interpret what they see with preconceived notions, when they aren't sure of what they're seeing. Also prone to make up facts if only to attract attention.

Many people have said that it's a hoax because of the way it turns to the camera to look at it, instead of just walking away from it and not even glancing back. Ever come across a stray dog or cat and it walks away from you because it's scared? They will usually turn and look back at you to see if you are following them the same way.

I was always amazed by how realistic the Chewbacca suit in Star Wars looked. Because it didn't look like someone in a suit. Chewie's hair was long though, and if it had been short I guarantee you wouldn't see that muscle movement underneath. Even when technology advanced before CGI, you still could tell it's someone in a suit. The movie Congo was the first I'd seen with the gorillas, where you'd forget they weren't real and be drawn in. But you could still tell. This doesn't have that man in a suit feeling to me. Also, look at them boobies Get em out and shake 'em for us....Too much detail in the body.

Yeah, there's just no way it's fake. There's costume experts that say it's too good to have been faked. There's another enhancement where you can even see the buttcrack, haha.The hair shimmers, the muscles flex, it's walking on sand but it's very smooth. The leg bend is more than a human, where the heel rises. If a hoaxer hoaxes bigfoot, they film partial body in low lighting and film it very steadily and the begin and end of the footage is oddly cut short. I mean there's so many hoaxes and they always cut corners, either because they're lazy or can't pull it off or afford a decent costume or simply are too dumb to realize how fake it looks. Think back to 1967, this might have been the first shaky cam footage.
But yeah, I've seen a lot of bigfoot footage and maybe only a single handful of videos feel real to me, while they others are clearly fake. The Mississippi one looks good, the Freeman footage looks good, and just a couple others.
You gotta further back than Star Wars for actors in suits. For instance, this video was shot before the original "Planet of the Apes" starring Charlton Heston and the ape suits that were available at that time didn't even come close to what you see in this video.
If someone made this suit. He should have gone to Hollywood and been a costume designer and made millions.
