I forgot about this series when I got caught up with your updates some time ago, but TH-cam remembered and put you back in my feed. Still hands down the best Tolkien channel out there in my opinion. Your narration still perfectly straddles the line between taking it seriously and a healthy dose of irony where relevant. You are one of the few that makes a point of getting the pronunciations right without sounding pedantic and I absolutely love how you keep finding relevant illustrations. Your maps are well-annotated so you can actually understand what you're looking at, where people are going. There are thoughts on how Tolkien's work relates to other work and history, but without it getting in the way of the story. It's concise without giving the feeling you skip anything; can't praise this highly enough.
This channel deserves a lot more views and subscribers than it currently gets.

As always I really enjoyed your exquisite narration but I have some questions that I hope you can answer :
1 . I did not know that the Numenoreans did not use horses , where was this mentioned in the literature ?
2 . why didn't Isildur think of the orcs of the misty mountains among others too , and maybe brought more soldiers in his way back ? was he too confident or went sloppy ?
3 . why did the jewel on his crown shine in red when he wore the ring ? and did he notice that ?
thank you or your excellent work .

Great questions! Let's hope I can answer them well:
      1. The Númenóreans had lots of horses on the island of Númenor. However, according to Note 7 for this chapter in Unfinished Tales, when the Númenóreans came to Middle-earth, they didn't bring their horses for war. Instead, "in their settlements on the shores of Middle-earth they acquired and bred horses, but used them little for riding, except in sport and pleasure. In war they were used only by couriers, and by bodies of light-armed archers (often not of Númenórean race. In the War of the Alliance such horses as they used suffered great losses, and few were available in Osgiliath)" [Unfinished Tales, pp.360-361]
      2. That's an interesting question. First, most of his men had already gone back to Arnor by a different way, so maybe was left with only the men he had as described in this chapter. Also, perhaps he didn't think that there would still be so many orcs left who were so ready to fight. It says in the book that these mountain orcs were commanded to be on watch BEFORE Sauron was defeated, so they might not even have known that he was defeated yet. Check out Note 20 in Unfinished Tales in which it discusses these mountain orcs [pp.366-367]
      3. The book doesn't really say exactly WHY the crown shines red. And I don't think Isildur noticed, because if he did, then maybe he wouldn't have kept it on his head when he was going across the river. Maybe he would've tied it to his belt or something.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope this answers your questions! :-D
