Summary notes for later reference:
-Optional runes, not necessary: Quick Draw (pickpocket map parts), Between the Eyes (get key to open a chest), Mutilate, Slaughter from the Shadows (good for backstab in group content)
-Talents: skip remorseless strikes since Sabre Slash doesn't benefit from it... go normal combat build (2/2 Imp SS, 3/3 Imp Gouge, 5/5 Deflection, 1/1 Riposte, 5/5 Precision)
-Alternate talents: Combat daggers (2/2 Imp SS, 3/3 Imp Gouge, 3/3 Imp Backstab, 5/5 Precision, 3/3 Opportunity)
Level 3: Get Shadowstrike
Level 10: Get Saber Slash (definitely) and Blade Dance (for fun)
*Use saber slash when bleed debuff duration is an even number, to guarantee you don't miss out on a bleed dmg tick
Level 14: Open on mobs with Garrote for great damage, each time you train a new rank of Garrote the base damage is very strong
Level 20: Do poisons class quest asap, get Deadly Brew and Envenom
Good dungeon drops: Wingblade, meteor shard, cruel barb
Run dungeons to help level up after 20, save some quests for 25 to get more gold on turn-in, also save some quests for Phase 2 leveling
In dungeons, you have great single target damage. In AoE situations, focus on kicking caster mobs.
Optional runes to get at level 25: Shiv, Main Gauche, Just a Flesh Wound
Level 25: respec to Simonize's Eviscerate build if doing BFD (5/5 Malice, 3/3 Ruthlessness, 2/2 Murder, 1/1 Relentless Strikes, 3/5 Lethality, 2/2 Imp SS)

@@Naitamaso Yes, but it depends on your race and dedication to traveling lol, just check wowhead for all the rune locations. If you’re playing undead for example, you just go to the shadowfang keep entrance, use sprint to make a long jump, and open a nearby chest for the rune. Again all the locations for the saber slash rune are on wowhead, take a look!

Thanks for this video. I had planned to play rogue for SOD but in going through the first 10 levels, I thought the runes I got were lame. I suppose I just need to keep going a bit further to get to the good stuff.

Your raid talents are what Im building as Im leveling lol I agree the investment of silver and time it takes to go and train weapons is tedious but learning bows and guns along with swords and maces makes it really nice so when something good drops I can just use it right away. Im level 16 and got the Hammer of Orgrimmar. Slapped that bad boy into the main hand and just started clocking mobs across the head. I still miss a lot though xD

romerseless attacks counts for saber slash but doesn't consume the proc apparently
the fact taht ever class got compeltely flipped upside down but rogue still just sinister strikes but with shadow step is so depressing rn
Doesnt Mutilate does 100% w-damage with each weapon means each daggers hit for 100%?
And dont forget, if you compare it to backstab. first it has no positioning requirement plus gives you 2 instead of 1 CP for 60 energy.
Dude - maybe I’m slow, but I felt like I was watching a video where the commentary was one of those disclaimers at the end of an ad where the dude is talking as fast as possible. Would have been much easier with what was purported to be a leveling build , where it wasn’t at 2.0x speed
Good ideas and suggestions but I couldn’t keep up!
Just a heads up the poison quest all the mobs are weak to something and they become way easier to kill. Main ones to know are the 2 lvl 25 guards on the ground floor get one shot by using ambush with any dagger , and the main boss ambush does 50% of his life so 2 rogues will take him to about 5-10% both using ambush.
could you post the rotation? its sabre slash to 5 points rupture and then sabre slash to envenom? do we slice and dice? What runes are we using sabre slash deadly brew envonem?

What minimum level to go for saber slash rune?
If you’re alliance, I got to the loch modan dam at level 4 just stealthing avoiding the enemies.
you can obtain saber slash in silverpine forest at level 10, when u get sprint

Thanks for pointing that out, that information was figured out after I made the video. It'd waited a good amount of time after I finished leveling for more information and figured northwatch hold was the only horde location, given that alliance only had 1 as well, but that's why I said you may or may not need lockpicking.

Thoughts on raiding with daggers… it’s always been my class fantasy to play rogue with daggers ever since I mained one in EverQuest… once swords were wow rogue meta I bailed… so now I’m back and wondering how mutilate/deadly/envom do vs Slaughtee from shadow… I have the meteor shard and was top dps (not counting the Scorpid) using slaughter but today I’ll get the poison rune synergy to try

every other guide says mutilate should replace sinister strike, why do you disagree with this?
Would you swap the 2% buff from murder and put them towards improved slice and dice?

You do not need lockpicking for the Saber Slash rune outside at SFK
pvp specific build? runes, talents and weapons (daggers over swords etc) also just a thot a small recap of ur over all recommendation would be nice cause u talk fast and put a lot of info out about choices. but thanks for the video and a pvp spec would be nice

Exactly what I did except for skipping gouge talents because my targets are always bleeding
I did 12 runs in Deadmines haven't gotten a single Barb to even drop off VanCleef. Then I did 8 runs of SFK and didn't see a single Meteor Shard. Did all of BFD, and I was doing pretty comparable damage to a rogue that had full pre raid BIS, even winning on some fights. I am running mutilate. It's definitely not ideal though and there are a lot of instances where you can't Envenom on the raid bosses.
For pve just get a viking sword of power and a crossdagger of power from ah.

I think generally skip EA, since warrior sunder is a thing. And Prot Warriors have Devastate.

This is why you go human get swords and kill mobs that are your level or less. You will start to ramp up and it's a late game payoff

i levelled to 25 as a night elf rogue and it was a real struggle. I almost rerolled too.

HI , What rotation was you using in raid , cyber , slice + dice ? envenom at 5 stacks and rupture at 4 cp ?
Hard disagree on a lot of things... mostly on the value of rested xp.
We race to 25 to grind until we run out of things to grind or we get bored.
What's the one thing you can't grind at 25? Capital city rep.
I worked hard and traveled a lot but I got all quests done before going above 5 levels of the quests. Now I'm honored in all cities and might hit revered in org before the first phase ends.
Once I finished the level 19 quests I was 23 or 24 and I ran a few dungeons to get the rest of the way to 25... then all that xp for all lenvel 20+ quests converts to gold and its a lot.
It's not that much slower either because the quests are gonna be green and easily soloable... including the poison quest.
Just keep that boon up as much as possible and the running around isn't nearly so bad.
The spec didn't matter than much. It was green mobs so I mostly used shadowstrike for the mobility. I experimented with other books too.. it was all fine.
I'm now running the same stuff as everyone else. I just have a different view of leveling and it worked great for me.
Thanks for the video. I'm playing Rogue in SoD with Saber Slash, Envenom, Deadly Brew. I noticed that when grouped with another rogue our deadly poison procs seemed to stack with each other but only one of us was able to envenom. Have you experienced this? Also, the tool tip for Deadly Brew appears at first straight forward - it will apply instant poison as if instant poison were applied - so we can seemingly NOT apply instant poison at all, and apply a sharpening stone to both weapons, (or a stone to Main Hand and Crippling on Off-Hand for PvP) but the aforementioned other Rogue in my group was using poisons on his weapons while using the Deadly Brew rune, and his poison proc's seemed faster than mine. Any thoughts?

Curious, have you tried the mutilate build with envenom and brew as opposed to saber slash? Wanted to see how it would compare, also the poison charges has been a point of contention for a lot of people as they're worried they'll run out really fast and even mid-boss fight using mutilate.
I did the raid last night and topped DPS by a lot. It absolutely pumps and more of a fan of it than saber slash. If you use envenom right, then you can get 5 stacks really fast on a boss and maintain it. Same with whatever adds they spawn. I think the biggest envenom I hit was on ghamoo-ra was a 879 which blew my mind. I found that using envenom with 2 stacks of deadly poison and 2 combo points really gets the ball rolling on getting to 5 stacks fast. It even works with one stack and one combo point so in a beginning of a fight I usually never wait till 5 stacks to cast my first envenom
@@emansfield2017 prob shouldnt do that, youll get too five stacks in no time, like less than 5-10 seconds usually. ur just wasting energy which in turn would be a 5 cbp envenom or snd
@@Julez3133 honestly, there's times in dungeons where I don't apply a poison as quickly as 5-10 seconds. Even with fast daggers. It doesn't trigger as fast as you think.
@@emansfield2017 nvm ur absolutely right, i was completely dialed into a 2-3 minute raid encounter, if ur just killing trash then using an early envenom is fine, i still think u should use the first 1-2 cmbo points on getting slice and dice up quick

What do you mean by losing a tick with saber slash? Also, when you have 3 stacks of saber slash up, is it better to use sinister strike at that point until you need to reset stacks on saber slash? sinister strike actually does more on hit dmg then saber slash, they fixed the tooltip for saber slash, its 100% of weapon damage, not 130%
Thank you for brought that up. i am confued too. About saber slash he said "the DoT takes 2 sec, so you can easily avoid losing ticks by adding stacks when the time remining on the debuff is an even number" What's a "tick" even?
So no dagger mutilate for you? I didn't have much of a problem being at 90-110 dps on most longer fights in bfd with meteor shard and a green dagger OH. Didn't get cruel barb to drop though
I'm really torn at the moment cause I want to like make the perfect build and not have to swap stuff around and just have something thats great for pve content, dungeons raids and everything, while still being able to have fun with pvp. The best way to have fun wiht pvp on a rogue in SoD is with shadowstrike and since saber slash is just so good, its a pain to have to swap between those two runes for each activity, for me in the sense of organising my ui and just making playing the game less annoying

Actually Remorseless Attacks does work with Saber Slash, Saber Slash just won't consume the buff. So I'd pick that =)

Have leveled a warrior and rogue to 20 and played both in hc but these mobs buffs… they’re tough. Maybe I level a class that actually got some amazing upgrades. Like hunter/lock/pally.

Remember 5 man dungeons are different than 25 man raids. We are low lvl in a modded vanilla wow so damage in my 5 mans for a rouge depends on you being 1 or more lvls higher than the trash and you having a big wep lol
what would be the go to glass cannon pvp build?

Rogue is so pathetically weak and every rune feels unsatisfying so far. I genuinely hated leveling so bad because the mob buffs were way stronger than the rune buffs so it felt harder than regular classic
I tried Druid recently and they get free wraths and sunfire which genuinely felt insane and allowed me to tag 3-4 mobs and end the fight with full health somehow...
initially yeah, but I was gapping every single other DPS in raid last night with backstab build, finished 2nd in DPS right under a pally who got the first 2 drops, including a literal god tier helmet

the meta as ive seen is shaman tank grabs half the dungeon, the shaman, hunter and mage blow the fuck out of everything while youre still tryna get deadly brew to stak deadly poison on one mob :/

Let me start off by saying sod is my first WoW experience so if I ask dumbass questions I apologize in advance but from 20-25 are there specific dungeons I should do in order for leveling and gear drops or is as simple as looking up which boss has bis and farming it?
Get AtlasLootClassic addon. It shows all instances, raids bosses with loot tables and chances of drop.
Look through Deadmines, SFK, WC, BFD bosses, see what upgrades bosses have. Then run those dungeons.
I suggest getting a group that’s willing to run a dungeon at least a few times as travel time to some of them are so long it feels a bit of a waste to run it only once.
I would not specifically go for THE ULTIMATE BIS as that will often be very expensive or time consuming. Phase 2 will unlock sooner or later and almost all of the items will be replace within a day or two.

Read the saber slash tool tip. It benefits from sinister strike talents.
