Neil Young was right. Rock and Roll can never die. What a refreshing sound! Hints of Patti Smth, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, grunge, Chrissy Hind, and Neil Young guitar tone creeps in. But she's her own style and very addictive. I love it.
it's so so relieving to hear that someone without connexions in the industry and just with raw talent and passion can make it today. Courtney you're a saver!
Damn but it warms my cold cold heart that young people today are making rock music as tasty as this, like they did back when I learned to love it as a kid in the late 70's.... I still love a noisy rock band, and this is a pretty freakin good one... thanks to all who made this possible...
Yeah man, I think she's up there. Wolf Alice, who Courtney happens to be a fan of, is pretty damn entertaining too (IMHO). You watch some of the early acoustic vids and are like , yeah these kids got something....now they're huge

I never really clicked with Hopefulessness until seeing Courtney live. Then I GOT it: it's a rock song, it's practically a Nirvana tune. Awesome talent.
Sorry I don't understand, that definitely is an exaggeration that makes no sense to me, if a band sounded like that particular Nirvana show, which is an awesome show by the way, then how is that bad anyway?

I met Courtney when she did her first tour of the US she was in Denver at a small club called the Larimer Lounge, we shook hands and chatted a bit and then she and the band went to eat dinner before the show. Nice girl.

my wife and I are going to see Chvrches on October 21 in Boston, and Courtney is playing the very next night at the House of Blues. May have to go to both shows....
I’d have been at this concert for sure if I only knew who she was and how awesome her music is back then, in 2018. Chicago is my hometown, so it would’ve been marvelous to make the trip and visit family and friends while making it out to that festival. Better late than never when discovering amazing artists who make such magic!

and thank God for that cool looking stage...…….undefiled by fucking advertisers, soooo refreshing. It's almost unbelievable to see in this day and age! Thank you thank you thank you whoever is responsible for that
she is great for me and Avant Gardener is a gem already in the hundred year history of rock, all this being my opinion and please please spare me yours I'll spare you mine..
Ive watched a bunch of this bands performances, and with kenny in the band the dynamic is just incredible. Wish they could make this permanent. Courtney rules!
Saw her in KC the week prior to Pitchfork. The sound was much better and she played a longer set. She was having fun and so was the crowd. Will see her anytime she is close. Kid just rocks and has a very tight band.
Was even better at my small club..too bad they made me turn off my camera after the first song.. I could of captured the best performance.. I was able to film the encore tho, when the band the breeders joined her on stage..
I love her debut, and the collaboration with Kurt Vile, but too many sophomore albums have kinda disappointed me, so I was afraid to give much listen to hers. Yeah, really enjoyed this vid, now I can't wait to pick up a copy (I'll take vinyl) !!!!
OK. It took me until 24:00 before I made my determination. Fucking awesome! To my old ears, a little Chrissie, as little Joan, a little Liz Phair, and a lot of tune-making you can put on like old jeans. Exuberance all over.
Go Courtney!
Fender, I Love You
Fender, I Love You [2]
Hey fender, is the red jag Courtney is playing from the custom shop?
It's a Cobain Signature that we had specially modded for her :-)
CB came along just in time, I turned 60 a couple months back and thought rock was dead. She's a savior, no less.
Mate, look up another Australian band called "The Chats"....."their songs like "pub feed" are great.....I'll think you'll like them
She needs to release a live album. Her live performances just sound so fucking good.
Neil Young was right. Rock and Roll can never die. What a refreshing sound! Hints of Patti Smth, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, grunge, Chrissy Hind, and Neil Young guitar tone creeps in. But she's her own style and very addictive. I love it.

I heard a little 'Sonic Youth' in there as well.
Definitely some Dylan in there as well
bob dylan was who came to my mind
It's Hynde, not Hind. But yeah, this is great stuff.
it's so so relieving to hear that someone without connexions in the industry and just with raw talent and passion can make it today. Courtney you're a saver!
Giving away your music to sell products helps too
If you think she has no connexions you are bizarrely naive.
her entire band is so lovable.
Seeing this at the end of 2020 makes me long for concerts.
Saw her do a mini show in LA in Feburary of 2020, was the last concert I went to before COVID =/
She’s on tour now!!!

No one's born to hate. They learned it somewhere, along the way.
She really is a true modern rock star.
Archie Thornton ㅎ
someone should tell Keith she stole his soul. shes the real god damn deal.
@@ciaphascyne8866 Lou Reed might be looking around for his too!
At least you can call her rock, bur needs moar rock.
She, Mac de Marco and Conan Mockasin give us faith that rock and roll didn' die
Im a little obsessed. Haven't heard something so classic but new since The White Stripes i'd say.
Het
This set just reeks Nirvana MTV Live & Loud. The tone, the angst, the stage layout, the colours. Amazing. She makes it her own. Love you Courtz.
No way, I completely disagree. Is that meant to be a compliment?
Jiv Ing she is clearly inspired by Cobain so yes it is a compliment
How is saying something reeks a compliment?
Jiv Ing im exaggerating - I love her stuff relax lol

A perfect live rock and roll mix,,,,,
Props to their live sound person,,
What a fucking gorgeous creature.💜
I would eat my feet to see Courtney Barnett live
So good... Saw her at a festival (probably the same tour) and had never heard of her. It was absolutely the best surprise of the weekend
Haha
Best new artist in many moons

Men are scared women will laugh at them / women are scared men will kill them - brilliant brilliant Courtney Barnett
I met Courtney when she did her first tour of the US she was in Denver at a small club called the Larimer Lounge, we shook hands and chatted a bit and then she and the band went to eat dinner before the show. Nice girl.
-I'm a "grunge-age" person - she's her own thing - that's what makes her so good !!! love her !!!! respect. go Courtney !!!!! awesome.
One of the best exports from our land down under. ....and it does nothing for our GDP but spreads the joy of music!
I can confirm she's bringing me great joy here in switzerland :) I hope she keeps going on for long!
Incredibly respectful audience. Well deserved!
raw is best i dont want no polished artist if they cant relay a message or a feeling and she does this with most of her songs simply amazing
wow, very extroverted for courtney up there, looks like she’s having a great time!
I can't figure out why, exactly, but pretty much everything about this act makes me happy....

Thank you for this. I love courtney so much ❤️
Dearest Pitchfork,
Can we please recreate this exact same music festival someday? Otherwise, I'll have to build a time machine.

This is great- love it. Been listening for more than 5 years
Loved it even more before all the ads would play 🫤
Such a nice sound mix! And of course, nice songs!
Courtney is just Rock ’n’ Roll - what a show!
That red Jaguar!
That bass tone!
Too good all around.
I am happy i came back after such a long time ❤️
This is beautiful ! We love your work ! 🔥🙌🏽🔥
I love the keys at the end of Hopefulessness and beginning of City Looks Pretty. Nice freaking touches. See you soon awesome band!

Courtney rules!
Great artist is Courtney. Great band, too. They "fit" and support her brilliance. This makes them great, too. (This Old Guy knows.)
Seeing Courtney Barnett live is on my bucket list, maby one day when covid ends she can drag the band up to Ontario for a show or two.
going to her Toronto show this coming Feb!
Was just about to comment the same! She’ll be in Montreal & Toronto in February 2022. I’ll be making the trek to Toronto
Probably the best show I’ll see all summer.
so jealous!!
Saw her in KC the week prior to Pitchfork. The sound was much better and she played a longer set. She was having fun and so was the crowd. Will see her anytime she is close. Kid just rocks and has a very tight band.
god dam that red jaguar guitar
Courtney Barnett has to be the most promising musician of this generation.
The problem is that she can't sing very well.
But the band is really tight.
Depends on the genre. King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard would be my first pick for rock, next to Tame Impala.
They're all Australian btw, somethings in their fucking water. Same goes for new New Zealand artists
TRUE!
She sings her own music just fine. Vocal style reminds me of Liz Phair. Everyone had the same complaint about her.
I love you Courtney. You are my inspiration for all of life.
Courtney rocks and will be in Seattle in October. Can not wait.
such a great surprise first hearing her. so raw. glad to hear more women step into the rock scene and killing it!
Nothing but talent Courtney! Love your style.
Megakudos to the folks at Pitchfork for capturing this great set so well!
A brilliant rhythm section gives super extra value in moderate compositions.
je t''adore Courtney
be great to get out and see this in person again someday after the current stupidity ends
this is actually mixed very well and well recorded....I am surprised and a great performance too.
Killer show Courtney! ♡
perfect sound engineering! perfect mix drum and bass!
Unorthodox guitar approach but love it. Thats how new music is found.
This is a breathe of fresh air.
I love Courtney soo much, she's great
GO COURTNEY! Shes an original slayer
Courtney Barnett in Italy !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes yes yes yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love you, Courtney
Brilliant Courtney live ❤ seen twice in the uk❤ both high class live performance nights for sure ❤ definitely looking forward to more of the same ❤❤❤
Great sound! Perfect drive!:)
She is so good. Amazing.
Whatever special Once in A generation Xfactor that Cobain had, she has it too.
Francis Vincent Ong Courtney is a punk and Courtney is a beautiful girl.
Nirvana is not grunge. Nirvana is punk rock.
No, but yes.

I'm in Love with this CC Drums! Lovelly sound and very well played! Very Nice drummer

Gosh I love her!
Good stuff ... She's clearly heard her share of Sleater-Kinney and similar 90's grrrrrl records (and some Dinosaur Jr), I'll leave it at that ...
I love her debut, and the collaboration with Kurt Vile, but too many sophomore albums have kinda disappointed me, so I was afraid to give much listen to hers. Yeah, really enjoyed this vid, now I can't wait to pick up a copy (I'll take vinyl) !!!!

so original. so cool . like a modern day chissy hynde. was lucky to have seen her. i could listen for hours.
Soooooooo good!
I love the drummer Dave. 4 real.
Well she finally got the Fender Jaguar she was mentioning in her "dream list' in the 2015 interview. It's not forest green though.
