That last shot of the Majestic and the Pharmacy that was on the corner was a killer shot. I lived on East Washington Ave and Harriet St. and I used to walk across the Congress Bridge up that hill to go to Central High in 1960. I remember the Bus Diner across the street, White Tower Hamburgers there etc. Brings back a ton of memories. Thanks so much for these 'rides'.

Both my wife and I were born and raised in Bridgeport. We both went to Bullard-Havens. The only structures I recognize is the boarded up Majestic and Loews Poli, and the Barnum museum. Across the street from theaters was the Lyric theater, and just a way down on Main Street was the Globe theater. All gone. All the stores used close at 5:00 pm except on Thursday, when they stayed open until 9:00 pm. Then it was wall-to-wall people and traffic. When Frouge Construction opened the Trumbull Mall that was the beginning of the end for downtown. You’re right - now it’s just an empty shell. Sad.

I always wondered what it looked like inside the arcade mall. You could always see the sun shining inside.

Glad you picked some uplifting music on a sunny day since the practically deserted downtown is kind of depressing. I enjoyed working downtown in early 80s and it was getting depopulated then. My mother grew up there in the 1940s and it was a very bustling city, so many offices and factories, much to be proud of. Don't know what's holding the city up. Now even People's United Bank (always People's Savings Bank to me) is gone, bought out by a Buffalo bank and many lost jobs. If they could only get a brave, honest mayor and some companies to relocate from lower Fairfield County. A popular chain store that's popping up all over, Ocean State Job Lot (from RI) refuses to open a store in Bridgeport.

It's normally very busy... I filmed early on a Sunday. It's easier to film with less people around plus... It kinda freaks people out when you record around them..lol

If the pharmacy was Ethical Pharmacy, I used to work there when I was 15/16.
The bank, was that People’s Savings Bank? The Connecticut National Bank building looks like it’s gone?
    I recognized The Barnum Museum.
