My grand mother worked at Levite’s department store downtown my mother and I use to walk from our house on black rock avenue to there all the time down park to seaside park to I’ve loved Bridgeport area my whole life and always will always feel. Like I’m home when I visit there
That's a good feeling I remember when I was little everybody walked to most places here cause the city was quite small and easy to walk to where you gotta go was nice to see the neighborhood met people but now all the ppl are strange and sit in cars all day 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆! Glad u like the pictures
B4 my time to but I love getting these pictures just hope who knows them would share 😌 that info I get so many of these old pictures sometimes and im not sure what they are ....glad u enjoy the pictures tho'
Born at St. V's July 14 1961,. I live in South Carolina now, however, I love Bridgeport and always have. The one building I recognize that gave me the goose bumps was CONTI'S, at Seaside Park. When everyone else was getting hot dogs and hamburger me being the rebel wanted freaking TUNA. Conti's made the best dang tuna on Earth. I visited probably some time in the 90s and went to Contis just for a Tuna sandwich it was exactly as I remembered. Thanks for doing this. I love this city. Welcome to Bridgeport, Hugh C. Curran Mayor. I still remember that sign then Nick Panuzio, then Bill Seres, then John Mandanici, then Len Paoletta...
I remember palette and some of those Mayor's I read about im 54 my brothers and sister went to conte s mostly they have lots of stories about eating there glad u enjoy pictures I hope to upload more soon when I get a chance!
Very well done. I was born and raised in Bridgeport and I pretty much recognized these photos. Other Bridgeport videos I’ve seen are more modern and there’s very little that I recognize. Downtown was the place to be with, Leavitts, DM Read, all the Loews theaters, Bryn Mawr for lunch, and so many stores. Nydens and Skydels on the East Side. Had to take a bus, CR&L, everywhere. Very few people had cars as there was nowhere to park overnight. The times sure has changed. Great video. Need more old photos.
THANK U SO MUCH!!!! I was thinking of doing more modern pictures and videos because others are but I like the old ones I do have some 60s 70s 80s pics also when I have the time I will be posting soon and thank you so much for saying that I'm so happy u like photos
I remember the pet store fish tanks and birds im quite sure that was part of Walgreens? I have a research coming up i hoping to get some more exclusive pictures hopefully I will glad u like the pics
Me too! I loved the pet department and the fabric/sewing stuff in the basement. I bought fabric there to make a skirt and vest for myself in 8th grade.
@@chachiwahi Yes! I loved the basement, those tables and tables stacked with every fabric known to mankind, all for dirt cheap. Remember the big curvy food counter upstairs? My Mom used to buy me a big glass of that awful sugary lime punch, which I loved. I'm not remembering the pet department....I need to go back in time and see it again :)
I hope you like them if you could share and continue commenting that be great im trying to get in the algorithm so please like comment and share and subscribe
Do you have any pictures from pleasure beach in the late 80s or 1990s before the bridge burned in 96?? I can't find not one photo or video of crossing the bridge in the 90s
Because sometimes I try to place it as like your riding around town or it just pops up in your mind ...I try to make it seem ur just traveling the city so I might show the same pic or different pics of same thing like if the video has a theme to fill it out longer I show same pic ...

It would be nice if we could see and read the captions under some of the pics. Many were out of frame, scrolled past, or disappeared in seconds.
