Thanks for this insightful gift to us old nostalgic wanderers. I too, grew up in the Garden School neighborhood. I lived on Fairview Ave. and delivered the Bridgeport Post from Barnum Ave to Paradise Green. I actually remember an ol pal from Curtis Ln., just off King St, Craig Burke, whose Dad was a Stratford Cop. Of course, this was in early 60's.
Would you be related to "Muggsy" Marks, whose name may have been Richard. Dated my sister decades ago.....we lived at 750 King Street. The park you are recalling was the playgrounds of Garden School, a grammar school since demolished and replaced with appartments.
wholly crap. I grew up on north ave .at the bottom of the hill close to main street. if I remember king street was off north ave. there was little park near by it. im feeling nostalgic lately . im in florida now for almost 20 yrs. funny watching this video on youtube.

Is there a house or any building named after someone from the Fairchild family? I never asked about the founders of Stratford? Do you have historians?
I'm related to William Beardsley
