I fished pleasure beach every day as a kid. Fond memories of an old black woman teaching me how to catch fluke but cleaning them was tough. Mom used to fry them for us in Crisco❤️😀

I was a kid that lived at 133/135 Wordin Ave (right across from Went Park) in BPT back in the late 60's & early/mid 70's and truly enjoyed watching your video. I see that the house is still standing and hasn't changed much at all, except it was olive green in color back then.
It was the summer of 1970 that I was about to turn 4 y/o and almost got killed right in front of the house we lived in when I got run over by a car on Wordin Ave.
Whatever happened to the factories on west end of State Street? The Pyramid? The State Street Diner? The Chicken Roost? The old A&P grocery store? It's all gone!!
I remember the old guy with a few small Boston Terriers that lived in the building in the middle of Went Park.
I remember taking our laundry to the laundry mat that was on state street around the corner and having the older kids in the neighborhood steal our money and throw me and my twin sister in dryer.
I remember that our 3rd grade class at Elias Howe had to have classes over at Bassick High School because of overcrowding at the elementary school. As a young white kid, I used to get my ass beat and my lunch money stolen all the time at the high school.
I remember being 6 or 7 y/o and sitting on the front step of the Pyramid and listening to the music while the adults partied there.. Until there was a shooting there and then mom said no more.
We moved to Fairfield in '75 because it was getting to be a rough neighborhood.
Tell me something that I can't remember... There used to be a hot dog stand, owned by an older black man and his wife, down towards Seaside Park that was either on Park Ave, Main Street or one of those streets that ran parallel with those streets and was on the left hand side of the road and I cannot for the life of me remember the name of that place? They had the absolute best chili dogs and were the nicest of people we ever knew. For some reason, the name Johnson seems to be coming to mind, but I'm not sure. It was a long time ago.
    Anyway... Thanks for the memories!

I didn't think i was going to feel like i was sitting in the front seat of your vehicle and seeing my home town again so soon. I was born and raised in Bridgeport. I moved to Florida in 2007 and never returned. I still get homesick from time to time. I left behind some very good memories and dark ones too. Thank you for this journey through my hometown. You picked the best music 🎶 for your video. I listen to a lot of Lofi hip-hop when driving around Florida. I've subscribed and will be looking through your Bridgeport videos. Please make more.

Well done. "Back on Park", I was literally saying to myself, "omg, is that the old Carvel"? Then your words popped up that it's gone. :(
Passing Kolbe Cathedral where I played basketball with St. Patrick's girls basketball team. So eerie seeing the site of the collapsed L'Ambience Plaza where I think more than 25 people died. The 17 year old that passed, was a senior at Notre Dame HS where I was a Sophomore. It really hit everyone so extremely hard. Bittersweet memories in this video.

Ary, for most of my early life, from birth to young adulthood(1945-1971), I grew up in the West Side except for the 3 years I lived in Success Park on the East Side during the time span. I have old photos of my grandfather's house and property which were located between Monroe and Hope Streets.. That area has changed much from the time he owned it. The Goodwll Building now stands across the street from it. The southern side of Hope, at one time, was the location of marshland that the city filled by using it as the town dump. Buildings and houses now stand on the dump-filled marsh land. At the far southern end of the marsh were 2 large buildings. One was used for running alcohol in the 1930s and the other was used, I believe, as a monastery of sorts.
I also remember catching 2 turtles on the southern side of Fairfield Ave. near my father's garage which is roughly where the Post Office is now located. The area between Fairfield Ave and State Street running from Black Rock to downtown has also changed dramatically from when I was growing up in Bridgeport.
BYW, I tell everyone my motto is:"Bridgeport born, Bridgeport bred, Bridgeport dead". [LOL]
P.S. I now live in Monroe and I go to Seaside Park everyday. Is it a coincidence or a foretelling that I would live in Monroe when I lived on Monroe Street in Bridgeport during my infancy?

Those traffic lights on railroad ave I would never sit at when I used to drive taxi on the overbite shift. The red lights would take too long to change to green. Love watchin your Bpt drive-thrus, keeps me remembering where I came from. Except for my school years (lived in and went to Milford public schools) then when I graduated I started my adult life in Bpt. Was born in Bpt but my mom elected to move to another town when my brother Steve (R.I.P) and I were about to be school age because she didn’t like the Bpt school system.

Bridgeport has so much repo activity going on. The west side is not rarely built, with the new movement of Bassett high School. Bridgeport soon change. Bridgeport is populated with so many zoning grounds, anyting can make Bridgeport. I as Paul Cameron running for Mayor See's Bridgeport as a gold min 4 prophecy of our future. 2024 and beyond would be a new beginning for our Bridgeport world. Infrastructure all around will be completed for new days to see. As far as what I see in hearing there is so much Bridgeport needs and we will establish that by our communities together. Now I have a plan that is just unrevealed yet and I will make sure our needs will be met. So instead of criticizing come to the table and make Bridgeport great. Vote November 7th 2023

I can applaud the efforts made by the producer of these sightseeing videos around Bridgeport. What saddens me, though - is his failure to traverse many significant through - streets, choosing instead to return to many of the same streets already traversed.…in the case of this video, those unseen streets and neighborhoods are: Bostwick Ave. (PT Barnum Apts., Captain’s Cove Seaport), Yacht St., lower Ellsworth St., Grovers Ave., Brewster St., Canfield Ave. (all in Black Rock), Wordin Ave., Wood Ave., Maplewood Ave., Briarwood Ave., Clinton Ave., and Brooklawn Ave. This video is promoted as a tour of the city’s West Side…the additional streets/thoroughfares listed here are what makes this video a complete presentation.
