This is exactly what happened when I went to Uni. First year met this group of people and we were really close friends so we decided to get a house together. Turned out that half of them were complete arseholes to live with and didn't give a shit about responsibility for the house or anyhting and wouldn't pull their weight. Lesson learned I guess

The sketch implies that most of the things they say is overblown or untrue. They just know their friends better than other people. So they're under an illusion that their friends are uniquely many-sided, and are proud that they still can deal with them despite their flaws. If you think about it, almost every friend group is the same, none of them is especially "bad". And we see it in the sketch, the dog guy is not terrible, but he's told bad things about Rehka by HIS friend. It's a bit like your mom or brother saying embarrasing and dismissive things about you to others even though they love you. So to drive this home, the same weird detail is in each description for each friend. Like, if they say the same bizarrely specific bad thing about every one of their friends (...and also doesn't believe in holidays), it's less likely they're telling the truth, even if they think they are.

lol i had a friend like this. She pretty, smart, driven, and charismatic, people love her. But she thinks it ok to steal from department stores, thinks tripping on Rohipenal or E would be fun, and if she loses interest in the guy she is dating she will ghost him. but i think you could do this to anyone. Self: Smart, supportive, (dark or crude) humor, enjoys to cook, clean, and take care of small kids. There was an easy walk harness on that dog! Those are THE BEST tool to get your dog to stop pulling. They work 100% better than choke chains or prongs. They work by putting pressure on pressure spot and naturally calming your dogs energy while also making it physically impossible to pull. Because of where the pressure goes when they pull they’re pulling around so they’re looking at you. It’s really hard to pull backwards for a dog you know!
I think that's the point of the sketch. Both of these people who'd like to date are told bad things about each other. With the best intentions. But it's implied in the sketch that their friends are biased, as in, they know too much about their friends (as compared to other people) and advise against dating them. It's a sort of protectiveness, "I'm friends with these people and I know their various sides, but I've learned to live with them, you don't want to go there". But *all other people are the same*! Most people don't have a uniquely "bad" set of friends, all people have lots of sides, you just don't know them as well! So "protecting" strangers from one's friends does nothing, except from hoarding them to oneself. And in the sketch the friends do exactly that, they prevent two perfectly normal people from dating.
I mean… Not to the extent of being horrible people, but one of my groups of friends (more specifically my Pathfinder Party) is full of people I could not stand sharing a house with for more than a week. Luckily all four of them are already in relationships… with another one of those same four respectively. Yes, I‘m literally the fifth wheel, but because I‘m best friends with the DM they‘re never gonna be rid of me (said DM is also the only one among them I could share a house with for longer).

So to drive this home, the same weird detail is in each description for each friend. Like, if they say the same bizarrely specific bad thing about every one of their friends (...and also doesn't believe in holidays), it's less likely they're telling the truth, even if they think they are.

lol i had a friend like this.
She pretty, smart, driven, and charismatic, people love her.
But she thinks it ok to steal from department stores, thinks tripping on Rohipenal or E would be fun, and if she loses interest in the guy she is dating she will ghost him.
but i think you could do this to anyone.
Self: Smart, supportive, (dark or crude) humor, enjoys to cook, clean, and take care of small kids.
Cons: emotionally distant, shut inn, no drive or unrealistic goals, Judgmental of partner but not others, will take you down if your wrong. doesn't believe in holidays but will exchange gifts if knows you do.
I think the point of this is we are all terrible people XD

Someone else in the comments pointed out it was a soap box, which futher helps that final joke where we find out that her friends think she's super judgmental. Which would be way to on the nose if it wasn't so subtle

There was an easy walk harness on that dog! Those are THE BEST tool to get your dog to stop pulling. They work 100% better than choke chains or prongs. They work by putting pressure on pressure spot and naturally calming your dogs energy while also making it physically impossible to pull. Because of where the pressure goes when they pull they’re pulling around so they’re looking at you. It’s really hard to pull backwards for a dog you know!

I think that's the point of the sketch. Both of these people who'd like to date are told bad things about each other. With the best intentions. But it's implied in the sketch that their friends are biased, as in, they know too much about their friends (as compared to other people) and advise against dating them.
It's a sort of protectiveness, "I'm friends with these people and I know their various sides, but I've learned to live with them, you don't want to go there". But *all other people are the same*! Most people don't have a uniquely "bad" set of friends, all people have lots of sides, you just don't know them as well!
So "protecting" strangers from one's friends does nothing, except from hoarding them to oneself. And in the sketch the friends do exactly that, they prevent two perfectly normal people from dating.

I mean… Not to the extent of being horrible people, but one of my groups of friends (more specifically my Pathfinder Party) is full of people I could not stand sharing a house with for more than a week. Luckily all four of them are already in relationships… with another one of those same four respectively. Yes, I‘m literally the fifth wheel, but because I‘m best friends with the DM they‘re never gonna be rid of me (said DM is also the only one among them I could share a house with for longer).
