So, I've noticed this plugin on literally every mixing video I've ever watched - regardless of genre - and now I know why it's so great. Thanks dude! I'll be investing in this ASAP!
Wow, this plugin will be on every single tracks from now on. I'll mostly be using it to control vocal sibilance but the ability to see immediately what instruments are competing for space is priceless.
I see people using this in every mixing video I watch, but finally decided to research it. Yours was the first explanation I found, and was filled with a lot of ah-ha moments. Thanks for the quick but thorough walkthrough. Instant buy.
I've been using the Ozone EQ by Izotope for a bit now, and never really felt that the Pro-Q 3 was gonna offer me anything that Ozone 11 couldn't already do. -until I saw collisions. I audibly went "Whoa..." lmao. Safe to say that I'm buying this now that it's on sale.
Another fabulously informative vid Mike I have Fab Filter Pro Q3 and was unaware of some of the functionality you've highlighted. Got a stack of problems this plugin can address many thanks for this additional info.
Hi Mike. I saw many of your videos using this EQ, but I finally bought it after seeing this particuliar video a while ago. And now, I came back to this video to get new ideas, and then I learned new things. Thanks a lot Mike.
Dynamic eq is great for preserving a good tone in a solod out section. Like an bridge with just a vocal and guitar but fixing problems that thick vocal creates in the mix.
Hi Mike! Thanks again for your amazing videos. I use this eq for ages and I didn't know the helping function on the left and on the right! Hi pass and Low pass filter!!! Excellent as usual!👍
I just got Fabfilter Pro-Q-3 yesterday finally. It's like I have an endless amount of VST-Plugins it's awesome but can be a pain sometimes because you come to a point where you have too many options. I have 3 DAWs. Cubase, Mixcraft & Reaper but pretty much only track in Cubase. I have the Slate Digital Everything Bundle which really is the best bang for your buck when it comes to analog mic pre simulation and all the other amazing stuff that it comes with.
I have Pro-Q 3, Am I missing out on Pro-Q 2. I didn’t get Pro-Q 2 because I have the third Pro-Q, but now thinking if Pro-Q 2 has anything cool and unique that Pro-Q 3 doesn’t have. Of course the third one is way superior, but I haven’t been able to get a simple answer on if Pro-Q 2 would be worth to get even tho I have Pro-Q 3, or would it just literally be wasting money
Hey dude great video. I had a question maybe you might be able to answer if you have a moment. Let's say I have pro Q3 on snare track. And I am creating two dynamic bands that I am going to set up as a side chain to two different instruments within that 1 pro Q3 plug-in I have on that snare track.. I've noticed when I try to do this. And try to Side chain the two bands to two different instruments. They automatically default to the same one. Do you know if I have to have separate pro Q3 plug-ins on the snare track, one designated to the different instrument that I am going to side chain to? I thought I would be able to side chain multiple bands to any instrument for side chaining within the same one pro Q3 plug-in on the track. Hopefully I didn't confuse you. Anyway thanks again for posting such a great video
Hi Mike, is there any chance you can give us any pointers on how to reduce electrical noise from a PC, i have tried everything to stop it, is there a device I can get to stop it? Great channel, great content, from an avid cakewalk user.
I think that might be a very long video. There are many causes and ways to address PC noise (hum, crackle, buzz, etc.). It could be the PC, but noise could come from almost anywhere. High static environments, hardware, connections, inputs, outputs, cables, processor speed, and drivers just to name a few. To help narrow things down, try to isolate where and when you hear it. Do you hear noise when playing MIDI instruments? Or, is it only when using your microphone? Etc. This will help identify the source. Although often hardware related, noise can sometimes come from software. For example: settings within Cakewalk. I have even seen cases where Focusrite solo and similar interfaces simply require a reinstall of the driver. Other times it is where the audio interface is located or types of cables being used. If you are having a difficult time tracking it down. Unplug everything (even printers) and check for noise. Then slowly add components back in. Or, if you have a buddy, try your hardware on their system. Best of luck...
I constantly argue software creators to build intelligence into their offerings, much like FabFilter does in Pro-Q 3. The bottom line is, engineers have more work than ever to achieve a given result, and that fact makes no sense at all. Computers should be anticipating our intents. Who would object to that? No one I know. Some DAWs think it is an impressive feature that they offer 30-40 options for automation, sound design, and modification. I feel the exact opposite on the subject. Anyone who can reduce that number to a handful is doing the real advanced work and all my purchases of plugins are guided by that reasoning.
How can we make it easier for you? Make the damn text bigger so we can see it without a microscope. 99% of people use a 4k monitor. It doesn't work with Windows scaling.

Pro Q3 is a mainstay in my projects. And you still uncovered a few nuggets I didn't know. Well done!
Yay! Awesome :)
Hey do you happen to know if the fabfilter plugins work inside cubasis 3 for ios??
I see people using this in every mixing video I watch, but finally decided to research it. Yours was the first explanation I found, and was filled with a lot of ah-ha moments. Thanks for the quick but thorough walkthrough. Instant buy.
This is one kick-ass EQ, and I especially love the dynamic feature. This will be mine tomorrow. Thank you sir!
First time watching your videos. This is fantastic. Thank you.
Show collisions…. Now that is an incredible feature.

Fabulous analysis of Pro-Q3. I've been using it for a while and you've shown me features I didn't realise were there. Thanks!!
Currently waiting on their sale. I didn't bite last time but I will on their next sale for sure.
Most plugins I've bought because I thought it was cool, but this one is NECESSARY AND EXPENSIVE. A must, for drums especially
Wow I've been discovering a lot about fabfilter plugins.. I like this one so I'm gonna get it soon
Awesome! Now, about that 100 bucks.....
@@CreativeSauce look I'm not surprised that it costs 100. Omnisphere costs wayyyy morr

Been a user for some time but didn’t know about the ‘auto’ low/high pass, thanks Mike. Greetings from Perth.
Hey Tony - haha. Also, if you do it a little further in, it will automatically create a shelf. Greetings back at you from Perth also!
Thanks Mike for the overview on the Pro-Q 3. You could always shoot a Part 2 video. ☑Extremely well presented.
Thanks bro ✊🏾
Merci Mike excellentes informations .👍

fl studio you can just add 2 eqs... for more adjustments though... iunno just my two cents

Scanning around looking for problematic frequencies is best handled with care I think because when you boost and scroll lots of frequencies sound bad
I;m a little embarrassed that I use this eq regularly by didn't know some of it's coolest features. thanks!

Hi Mike, have you given up on Cakewalk altogether?
Thanks for the video Mike. world class. I’m curious, is this plug in very CPU intensive ??

Is it compatible with cakewalk?
Yes!
Как раньше без него обходились если его не было бы его надо было выдумать за этот плагин надо дать нобелевскую спасибо разработчикам
For a long timr I avoided fabfilter.. I thought it would be PC heavy as it is so promising... But it was smooth as hotknife on butter ♥
I’ve heard it is NOT very CPU intensive? Is this true?
@@prodstevie it is very cpu friendly

It might be a great eq but you should be using your ears and not what you see on screen.
