Hi Robert. I really don’t know. Probably I had to put some more tape on the board to stop it flapping about. I’m afraid our continuity editor had the day off. Re the rifle noise, I think that is down to having a sensitive microphone pointed at the rifle as it doesn’t make that sound in ‘real life’. I hope that helps and that you found the video helpful.

Hi. To be honest I've never even bothered using this feature as I've always assumed that a PCP would not have sufficient recoil to activate the record function. I'll give it a try though and let you know...

Hi John. Thanks very much. What weight are the JSB Heavies you're using? Are they 8.26 grain? You velocity is 719 feet per second. If you can confirm pellet weight I'll get back to you re the BC.
@Alpha Militaria I've got 0,670g /10,34gr Then 4.5mm M47/08 But when itry to put Bullet wt/gr it won't let me put anything over .10 below the decimal point it goes to 1.0 and it goes after high as 500.0
It should due to it having a gyro inside. It should take angles into account. However it does not take the can’t into the equation. Needs to be level for the calculator to be spot on
Thanks. I think it's fair to say that in my regards it is similar to the old NV008LRF model - which I really rate (and use) by the way - but with the added benefit of the ballistic calculator. There are some neat design improvements too like the focus ring throw lever for example. Currently using mine on a 12 ft lbs .22 Delta Wolf. Zeroed at 30m, I use it to shoot rats from 12m. (Great film btw!)
@@airgunextra thanks for the reply,I do also have the pard 008,also find kinda strange the the pards 008 are similar in price to the newer version..I haven't checked side by side comparisons yet,but am thinking of buying this but still keeping the old pard..again excellent reviews fella.
Hi good review thanks a question if you shim the scope does that throw the ballistic calculator off slightly as the scope is not parallel to the barrel
Yo Paul, after shimming you re-zero the Pard anyway.. so it has nothing to do with parallel or not. Only if the reticle is zero'd. So no! you can shim-away.. with no problems. (I just did it myself today) grtz Theo
I believe the method of attaching changed and they are a little more permanent now so you have to make a decision as to whether you want the eye cup attached...or not. I prefer to remove mine which, as a glasses wearer, I find much better.
Hi Richard, I have the exactly same hardware set-up in .22 as you in this video. but could you please tell me which pellet you are using and what settings have to programmed into your pard nv800s lrf ballistic calculator for this please as when i use the ballistic calculator the pellet don't hit where the ballistic calculator tells me to aim. If you could please help ?🙏
Hi Peter. I believe I was using Air Arms Diabolo Field in the Delta Wolf and JSB King Heavy mk2 in the .25. I have been fiddling around with a few scopes that have a ballistic calculator function and thought I'd pass on two main learnings: 1. If you've zeroed your rifle and then find the groups are higher/lower at longer distance when you use the ballistic calculator, try adjusting the setting for feet per second. This will alter the impact point at those longer distances. If your groups are going high, then drop the FPS down. If they are going low then increase the FPS. Its a bit of trial and error, but once your group is on with the BC at a longer distance you should find it more accurate at other distances. Just check that your zero is still on. 2. If you find that your groups with the BC at longer distance are left or right, then re-adjust your reticle accordingly so that you are aiming and hitting the impact point. I've found that what appears to be a good zero at say 30 metres could in fact me out by a quarter or eighth of inch. When you add another 30 metres on top of that, that quarter or eighth of an inch turns into two or three inches. Again, just make sure your original zero still works. I hope that makes sense and is helpful. Good luck!
Thanks very much. Yes indeed. Take your time to set the profile up properly and spend some time on the range to fine tune and hold over is a thing of the past!
I use the same PARD 008SLRF scope as you, how do I set the "ScopeHt" value on the ballistic calculator? The default ScopeHt(mm)=70.10, what should this value be set to on FX Impact M3? Thanks!
Hi Ashwa. I simply measure the approximate distance between the middle of the barrel to the middle of the scope in mm with a ruler/tape measure. In the video I said that its worth fine tuning the set up once you've put a few shots through to ensure the ballistic calculator is working accurately for your set up. Playing around with the value you enter for scope height is one of the things you can adjust along with the other settings. At the end of the say, time spent on the range to ensure you have everything set up just right is the only way forward in my opinion. I hope that helps.
Hi Richard great review as ever. One question I may have missed this in the review, but does this product still have the 5 profiles as per the pard oo8 ? Thanks Garry.
Hi Gary. Sorry for the delay in responding. I believe the answer is 'yes'. I'll double check when I get the rifle out again and will let you know if any different.
Hi Richard, I have a question for you about the rubber eyepiece. I notised that you removed it before testshooting, and also in the previous vids about the old 008p. Was it a easy operation? ...I guess it's glued on.. true? I want to remove it also, but I guess I'm a little cowardly sinds it costs so much.. and I'm afrayd I won't be able to put it back on.. should I regret it later on. Right now I struggle to align my eyes to the screen to see all the info on it. And also compared to the rubber of the 008P, the new one seems even thicker and sturdier thus blocking a clear view. And another thing that's holding me back is that maybe the light radiating from the screen, might lit up my face in the dark and spook the rats. I'm really curious about your thoughts on this, and especially how you went about to remove the rubber eyepiece. Thanks in advance! ..I realy enjoy your extended-in-dept revieuws. grtz. Theo
Hi Theo. Thanks very much, I'm glad you like our vids. Personally I find the scope much easier to use without the eye cup and I get a much better picture. The eyecup is attached...a bit. Having removed it I can still put it on again as there is a small recess around the ocular lens. However, as I know I prefer to use the Pard without the cup I'm not too both about putting it back on again. I wouldn't worry too much about eye shine - I've not found it an issue with either rats or rabbits. However, you can turn the brightness down on the settings, or wear a face mask if you are concerned. Thanks again, Rich.
@@airgunextra I also really enjoy your videos - they've been a great help to a novice airgunner! I also get a better view of the screen without the eyecup, but in certain lights outdoors I've found the scope almost impossible to use without it. As you say it's easy enough to put back on if necessary ...so long as you get it off in one piece! Mine was pretty securely glued on, but came off OK with a bit of care.
That was a great review Richard. Going to fit one on a 22 rim fire that only has a 11mm dove tail. What would you suggest make of waver rail to fit as I here the snap on ones leave a lot to be desire. Also is there a max GB of micro card recommended.
Hi Joseph. I'd recommend a dovetail to Picatinny rail rather than go with the clip on converters. Optics Warehouse sell a reasonably priced universal adapter that should do the trickwww.opticswarehouse.co.uk/utg-universal-dovetail-to-picatinny-weaver-rail-adaptor With regards to the mx GB, I'm not sure. I've been using a 32 in mine without issue and it's got hundreds of shots on it so far! Thanks for watching.
Morning Joseph, I'm using a 128GB MicroSD card in my new Pard008S-LRF as standard, just as I did for my older (pre-P) Pard008-LRF and it works nicely. Pards record at approx' 100MB/minute so a 32GB card stores approx' 5 hours of video footage. Hope this helps, loads of 008S-LRF reviews coming soon to my channel, cheers. Russ
@@RussDouglas222 Hey Russ, I'm still waiting (longing, craving etc) for your in-dept nitty-gritty review. And when you get to it, see if you can find out how to move the LRF-cursor more to the middle of the reticle if you want?! ...your humble follower. grtz Theo

Mine does display the BC aiming point on recordings (though at shorter ranges there are still some inaccuracies), and @SportsmanGunCentre have just informed me another update in already available. 👏 I'm confident this awesome compact scope's ballistic calculator will very shortly be working perfectly at all ranges. 🤞🎯 Thanks for your patience, cheers. Russ
Hi. There are two versions - the NV008S does not have a range finder or ballistic calculator. The NV008S LRF is the model with the range finder and ballistic calculator. The previous model (NV008P LRF) also had a range finder but no ballistic calculator. The range finder works by with a quick press on a button and the ballistic calculator works with another quick press of the same button which marks your revised aim point on the reticle. I hope that helps.
Hi Richard, happy subscriber here from WA state and new to the PCP fun. Just received an FX Wildcat BT and am looking for an available NV008S LRF. Two easy questions: which scope mount are you using in the vid, and how much more desirable is the -008S than the -008P? I ask because the 'P' is available here stateside but the 'S' is rarer than an intelligible Biden sentence.
Hi. Thanks for subscribing. I love WA - spent a lot of time in Redmond and Bellevue for work... The good news is that the Pard NV008 comes with a mount and will go straight onto your Wildcat without the need to buy any kind of additional mount. The main difference between the S and P models is in the LRF (laser range finder) models of both. The S LRF has a ballistic calculator mode whereas the P LRF does not. If you're not bothered about having a range finder/ballistic calculator function, then the non LRF versions of the S and P are pretty much the same. I have both the NV008P LRF and the NV008S LRF models. Other than the ballistic calculator function they are the same in terms of optical performance and features. I hope that makes sense (at least more than if Biden explained it!).
Good review, would be interesting doing the same test with a .177 sub 12ftlbs rifle zeroed at 30yds and then use ballistic calculator 40,50 and 55 yards

@@airgunextra Thanks very much Richard. Hmm sounds like yours is running Feb's firmware, so you could leapfrog the March update and get the newest one installed. Did you see my post on the Airgun forum Pard008S-LRF thread, with an annotated screenshot explaining how the eyepiece's BC displayed reticle is slightly out at 6m, but the recorded BC reticle is almost spot-on? I think if (in time) they get the BC firmware tip-top and I can get an adjustable-iris sunshade to fit the new Pard (because just like the older Pard, the Wülf 4K and many other digital scopes, bright oncoming/direct sunlight can wash-out the image), I might well also replace my remaining Pard 008-LRF with an 008S-LRF. Just a shame this new wonder-scope's not also 4K... never satisfied are we? 🤣🤣 Cheers. Russ
Yes, as explained in the video, you'll need to enter details relating to your set up - pellet weight, BC, fps, height between middle of the barrel and middle of the objective lens etc...You can save several different profiles.
@@MasonStormSunny Hi. Have you tried one yet? I did with a range of different pellet and slug types and shapes. It worked just fine for me. Don't forget this is zero-eye relief so not appropriate to use on centre-fire rifles that recoil.
@@airgunextra well, there is that rubber piece which distances your eye. 008S was designed for centerfire rifles. This is why the IR and RF in on the left side of the scope so that it does not colide with the action of the rifle during reloading.
I think you might be confusing the scope with the video camera at 21:00. You do realise that I walked up to the target with the video camera at 21:00 and its not footage through the scope right?
@@airgunextra Yes, I knew you walked up to the target. My question no scope has the power of it (21:00). Unless I am using my uncle ATG's Hensoldt scope.
@@angelisone I'm sorry, I don't know what point you are making. The Pard Nv008S has 6.5 and 13x magnification, which is ample for airgun use (you do realise this is an airgun channel right?). That said, I use it on a .17 HMR out to 130 metres without a problem. It's not suitable for recoiling rifles. If I'm missing something please let me know. The Pard NV008S is a fantastic product. Have you used one?
Your ballistic calc will not work correctly especially the further you push the distance out to. The scope height measurement needs to be the point of aim (POI) of the scope to centre of barrel at the muzzle NOT the height from objective lens to barrel centre vertical when mounted.
A lot of people who are new to digital scopes struggle with what they perceive to be complexity. Explaining all the features, as well as how to shim (something that's often needed on this scope) and then shooting on the range is going to take time. I could have left a bunch of information out and done it in less time. I am not motivated by views - £0 is made from these videos.

It should due to it having a gyro inside. It should take angles into account. However it does not take the can’t into the equation. Needs to be level for the calculator to be spot on

Hi there. They can be tricky. You might need an adjustable mount like the one from Eagle Vision will solve the problem.
Is it really a good upgrade from the 008?...Great review.
Hi good review thanks a question if you shim the scope does that throw the ballistic calculator off slightly as the scope is not parallel to the barrel
Hi Paul. No, I don't believe so...
Yo Paul, after shimming you re-zero the Pard anyway.. so it has nothing to do with parallel or not. Only if the reticle is zero'd. So no! you can shim-away.. with no problems. (I just did it myself today) grtz Theo
Hi! How to remove the rubber eyepiece?
It's very attached to mine...
I believe the method of attaching changed and they are a little more permanent now so you have to make a decision as to whether you want the eye cup attached...or not. I prefer to remove mine which, as a glasses wearer, I find much better.
@@airgunextra Thank you for your reply, I'll buy a spare eye cup and take it apart, knife, fork, scissors, axe at home, it will come off for sure! :-D
Hi Richard,
I have the exactly same hardware set-up in .22 as you in this video. but could you please tell me which pellet you are using and what settings have to programmed into your pard nv800s lrf ballistic calculator for this please as when i use the ballistic calculator the pellet don't hit where the ballistic calculator tells me to aim.
If you could please help ?🙏
Hi Peter. I believe I was using Air Arms Diabolo Field in the Delta Wolf and JSB King Heavy mk2 in the .25.
I have been fiddling around with a few scopes that have a ballistic calculator function and thought I'd pass on two main learnings:
Good luck!
Excellent insight! So, would the ballistic calc help with the age old .22 hold over situation?
Thanks very much. Yes indeed. Take your time to set the profile up properly and spend some time on the range to fine tune and hold over is a thing of the past!
@@airgunextra Sounds like cheating 😆 So im ordering one this evening!
@@airgunextra Thanks for your reply, I benefited a lot from your video, thanks again!
Do you need shims when your picatinny rail already has a 20 moa?
Yeah - afraid so...It's worth investing in an Eagle Vision adjustable mount...
Although to be fair, I've put a Pard Nv008 on some rifles and it's dropped straight on without the need for any shims...

Hi Gary. Sorry for the delay in responding. I believe the answer is 'yes'. I'll double check when I get the rifle out again and will let you know if any different.
When setting up the BC is there a place for wind direction and wind speed?
Hi Wally. No, there's no capacity to add in wind speed and direction unfortunately.

Hi Ivan - yes indeed.

@@airgunextra Thank you very very much. good info!
Also is there a max GB of micro card recommended.

is there a difference on how to use the ballistic calculator from pard nv008s to nv008s LRF.?
@@airgunextra You explained it perfectly and thank you for the great videos, and for your excellent reply.

What is the minimum pellet weight for the ballistic calculator, ATN is 10 grain would be great if is around 8 grain.
Hi Arthur. You'll be please to know that the range starts at 1.0 gr.
The ballistic calculator cannot work good if there is no ballistic profile selection - G1, G7, GA.
Yes, as explained in the video, you'll need to enter details relating to your set up - pellet weight, BC, fps, height between middle of the barrel and middle of the objective lens etc...You can save several different profiles.
@@airgunextra but there is no place to specify if your BC is G1, G7 or GA which makes the calculator useless.
