  • After the Grenfell fire killed 72 people, many promises were made. Politicians vowed they would never let such a tragedy happen again.
But survivors say lessons are not being learned fast enough.
21 months after the fire, 354 buildings in England still have flammable cladding on them. In London, at least 176 high-rise buildings are yet to remove their Grenfell-style cladding.
Residents living at Northpoint in Bromley say they are facing bankruptcy and have been "abandoned" by the government.
It comes as police say criminal charges over the Grenfell Tower fire won't be considered until the end of 2021. Survivors group, Grenfell United, say they feel "frustrated and disheartened" by the lack of progress.

Isn't that something? All it takes is any room, or apartment/condo to catch fire, just burn through the window and you have a major disaster - AGAIN! People in charge need to wake up!

why would anyone make flammable cladding? How could anyone use it on a high rise building?

Paint will be a bit nicer than cladding

Looks like it is when it's a retro fit there's the problem it wasn't designed for.

This is why the government should never approve anything, it should be a matter for the construction company to decide on what type of cladding could be used based on a minimum specification. If problems develope they are soley responsible and can be sued.

That is effectively what has happened, the private sector developers have dodged the regulations, if there were no regulations it'd be even worse.

£30k for a waking watch. Once again this country has people behind the scenes making fortunes off people’s misfortune. Robert Jenrick your a disgrace. Any nice lunches with developers lately?

I sleep on a flammable bed each night. I make sure I don’t smoke in bed.

Your bed isn’t made out of petroleum product.
