It's also fairly well known, at least in the firefighting community, that buildings made of those insulated structural panels are dangerous as well. When a fire burns away the foam insulation, the panel no longer has much integrity, so it cannot support much weight, leading to collapse.
I agree, the Grenfell incident is unique. But the cladding did compromise the fire safety of the building. I'm not even an architect or structural engineer but I am knowledgeable enough to know that flammable cladding on such a building is a no-no.

Agreed, however flammable material is still permitted under UK regs. I also agree that a blanket ban would be simple to understand and enforce, however we still need to understand why the fire in this case was so different to fires in other clad buildings which have been successfully
contained. I suspect there are other significant contributory features that have not yet been made public and the focus on the cladding may over simplify the issues and reasons for the fatalities.

I agree with you very much
