As a Mitsubishi enthusiast, it does kinda hurt my soul with the way the brand had declined with performance cars. I’d love to have you do a review when it’s completed. It would mean a lot.

Funny thing in the UK the Mitsubishi colt was a good fast Hatch, My aunt had one and it was wicked but it ate alternators she had 5 in five years each just out of warranty so wen the 5th one went I said I will fit it so we had to go to Mitsubishi for the replacement, I explained to the dealer that the car was eating these and they did a check and admitted my aunt was on number six and she had purchased all of the previous batch they handed me the new one and said Free of charge and sent her a cheque for the price of three replacements as there was a faulty batch. My aunt was gutted when the car died as the car was in great shape and always passed our MOT the car was hit by a driver who couldn't drive.
I reckon at one point Mitsubishi had one of the best lineups, the 3000gt, Evo, Pajero Evo, Delica 4x4, Colt, legendary Starion, Eclipse, FTO, Cordia, Galant, RVR hypersport, Chariot GT and the Legnum VR4. Make Mitsbishi great again
lol times are changing. But yeah I have to agree, killing the EVO was the WORST mistake EVER. If the evo was alive I wouldn't be driving my 2019 Eclipse Cross. But still, I have no regrets, the car pulls hard in sport mode and it is FUN to drive just like an evo. Albeit it is a smaller capacity motor at 1.5L rather than 2.0L from the former 4B11, it has a 4B40T.

@@ML-yn9yu well where I am in this region of the world the car sells like hot cakes. It beats out the competition in value by a big time. I was looking at the Toyota Rav4 2019 and it was actually very costly for around 43K USD and the Eclipse cross 2019 was just at 25K USD in my country! The difference was very minor in comparison with the Rav4. Getting the legendary SAWC from the Evo line and a 1.5L Turbo engine plus a great price and interior was a no Brainer. I will never touch Korean cars. It's either Japanese or German for me.
I think ThatDudeinBlue should of done more research into a keiretsu or traditional Japanese conglomerate, as he got some key things wrong. First Mitsu Corp. doesn't even have controlling majority share of Mitsubishi, Nissan does. Second, while yes, the whole point of a keiretsu is for different companies under the same banner, to own a certain % of each others divisions. Meaning Mitsu Electric owns shares in Mitsu Motors or Mitsu Banking owns shares in Mitsu Shipping, but bear in mind, besides a once a month shareholders meeting, these divisions are fully independent of each other. Mitsubishi Motors NA isn't struggling because Mitsu Corp. is uninterested in keeping it viable, that's ludicrous as it does own some stock in Mitsu Motors. No, the struggle is the fact that Mitsubishi Motors NA made some really bad customer financing decisions in the early 2000s and then Nissan moving in after the emissions debacle to get it's hands on Mitsu's electric vehicle technology. Nissan is cannibalizing Mitsu for access to this technology. Nissan is relegating Mitsubishi to the SE Asian market whilst it controls the North American market. All Mitsu Corp can do, is sit and watch Nissan destroy it's legendary car division.
Mitsubishi is a giant in the manufacturing sector, if they want to create a monster of a car now they have the capital to do it but will they do it....probably not...cause the ROI on any new models is probably pathetic.
Back in the day when I was muscle car loyal. I secretly wanted a couple Mitsubishi’s. Nowadays, I don’t givea shit. If I like it I like it. I’m loyal to the car itself. And Mitsubishi will always have a place in my heart.
Mannn as badly as I want an Evo , the fact that they stopped making them really makes me sad and worried about finding parts for them in the future which turned me off on them.
@@16xthedetail76 but I don't vape tho..... nah all kidding aside I do like the blob-eye STI I'll have to wait and see if used car prices ever decide to come back to earth
It would be awesome to see another great build from Mitsubishi and could definitely see it like a hey we're still here kindof deal. It's not like they dont have the capital to create another competent build. It may just take enthusiasts like us writing letter after letter to them letting them know that they still resonate with us. Show them endless videos of just how much some people will always take Evo over Wrx, (Hey love my subies too BUGEYE BABY! lol), or dont care how much work it takes to keep a 3000GT at it's best. A move like that showcasing the love for their products and showing what we still do and love about them can warm even the hardest hearts.
Mitsu just had to be like Mazda. Make practical but good economy sedans and SUVs Then use the profits to support the less profitable brand poster children (like how Mazda has kept the Miata alive even with dwindling sports car sales) They kinda forgot the profitability part of that equation and then forgot everything else then started eating crayons
It's funny because Mazda figured out the balance do well that the Miata is also one of the most profitable cars on the market. It's depressing watching a sports car icon lose all relevancy.
Ralliart is still very much alive but they told me that they were bored without anything to do atm but however they haven’t been let go so their being held onto for a reason
“We have decided to relaunch the Ralliart brand for customers in Mitsubishi Motors brand who want to add to Mitsubishi Motors-ness even more,” said Takao Kato, Mitsubishi CEO. “For customers who wish to experience our Mitsubishi-ness, we will launch custom-made accessories for our model line-up as well as re-entering motorsport events around the world,” he added. Bodes well.
My 92 galant VR4 gaps hellcats and has the original r12 freon in it's functional ac system. I will die with this car. And I'll gap a new soulless electric car too. Mitsubishi ftw!!!!!
Hahaha I got an ad for the Outlander Sport on this video. No thank you, Mitsubishi! Make interesting cars again and maybe I'll care. It really is a shame how downhill Mitsubishi has gone. They used to do things a bit differently than everyone else. Now they do nothing. If Mitsubishi had continued making turbo Eclipse models with AWD options for a big premium, there are people who would buy them now. Granted, it would be a small niche market, but at least it would bring attention to the brand. It's why Subaru has a soul! Mitsubishi lost theirs.
mitsubishi could easily stop being the laughing stock of cars if they just went back to building cool SUVs, decent sports cars, and maybe a truck. Off road suvs are HUGE right now, and sports cars, especially japanese sports cars will always have a small but deathly loyal following. their US lineup in the 90s could translate to 2021 very well
The ceo of Mitsubishi responded to the #makemitsubishigreatagain thread on Twitter last year. To sum it all up he basically said “I don’t care that you liked the cars, that doesn’t mean anything to me, we are making a lot more money in our other fields, they’re never coming back, deal with it”
I so wish 4 wheel steering didn't end as soon as it did. By all accounts cars like the Prelude and 3000GT have next level turn in thanks to effectively having speed-dependent adjustable toe angle
I think they will make a comeback. They seemed to be focused and the 2022 Outlander was enough for me to purchase (SEL Launch edition) replacing my totaled EVO X MR. hoping for a EV-O in the future with S-AWC.
I'm from japan and many american friends tend to miss the point. Mitsubishi is a 株式会社 (public owned company) roughly translated sorry Mitsuishi owns a lot of stuff here in Japan. 1. Aeronotics (they make licenced planes from the US IE F-2 aka JDM ver of f-16.. Also licenced f-15 models,) 2. aerospace and defense (Satelites, tanks, etc..) 3. Retail (Lawson if anyone been to the Japan) 4. Industral (cars and Industrial parts and well nuclear) and many more subsidaries. car's aren't a priority for them. MItsubishi as a whole sees the car industry a lost cause with razer thin profit margins. they're still in the biz because Renualt and Nissan. besides that Mitsubishi has better revenue streams in their other subsidaries.
I went from a Mazdaspeed 3 Bk making about 400hp back to my Lancer Ralliart because I love the brand and the feeling that the car gives me. My Grandfather also had his own offical version of the Mitsubishi Sigma here in Australia, so Mitsubishi is kinda in my blood I guess.
Mitz do not care about the automotive industry anymore, they’ve got so many military contracts coming out of their ass they’re practically a super power
I find myself not really missing the 4G63 in the same way that NA, high revving engines are becoming more and more appealing. Evo owners are one of the groups of enthusiasts that I feel have had a great selection of modern options. pretty much everything recently has been an awd, turbo 2.0l 4 cylinder with large tuning potentials.
Despite their lackluster performance in the 21st century, Mitsubishi is not a naive company, nor are the people who control the company. If the 400z succeeds, the Supra continues to succeed along with the 86, and more performance cars continue to appear and insert themselves into the market in a sort of “jdm renaissance” I have the feeling Mitsubishi might consider reinserting themselves into the performance car scene. Or maybe there are just the ramblings of a hopefully enthusiast. One can dream, I suppose
First car was a Mitsubishi colt, here in America it was a dodge but yeah... for a old hand me down of a car I loved it. Put in a low mileage j import engine and a new transmission and it ran forever. Miss that little car, lotta fun times.
I used to think Mitsubishi was a weird car brand but always loved the Evo (IX) the most. Recently I’ve also fallen in love with the Eclipse GSX and 3000GT. Idk but the the idea of owning any of their cars felt wrong. Except a Evo 9 I would definitely like to that one.
I had to guess that mitsubishi's biggest mistake, was to keep the lancer evo to the domestic market for so long. Had they sold the lan evo from it's first model year. They might have had a bigger audience. Heck they should have started with selling the grand father of the lancer evo, the galant vr4 world wide.
They did sell the galant vr4 in the states, they’re just rare now because people saw them like that and used them for drag racing till they die. Same went with all the DSM’s they got drag raced to hell or just modded to hell and the Evo is going through the same fate. No more clean, stock DSM’s or Evo’s anymore
The audience was already big but with these low production sports cars everybody at the time had their hands on you could say all OF THEM lol at least in the states
Mm, what if Daimler-AG takes advantage of the legal issues against Carlos Ghosn, and makes an offer to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, about stakes? The corporation behind Mercedes-Benz and smart is powerful enough to absorb or adquire more brands. But I did never know why Daimler let Mitsubishi go back then 🤔
As much as I'd like to see Mitsubishi Motors make a comeback in North America their odds of actually happening are about as much as GM bringing back Pontiac to compete against Dodge.
When my dad was still in high school, He had a ‘93 Eclipse, and he participating in a STREET RACE with it! He raced against the new Acura model that came out at that time. It stretched from Tampa to Orlando and he was going up to 135 MPH. They need to ditch the crossover SUV and bring it back. At least show us a concept art or something! 😭
"They didn't have the capital they needed"... They sent rockets into space, and you think they didn't the $$$$? Mitsubishi doesn't need to make cars. That's not their 'bread and butter' business.
Have an old 94 Lancer. It has been preserved in quite good condition, the original engine still kicks in, a testament to the quality which they were build back then.
I have a white starion collecting dust inside one of my hired garages. Couldn't write it off, but I can't find the parts to fix it either. I always loved that design of that car. That's one thing I always liked about mitsubishi too. Their designs.

I accepted what Donut Media said a long time ago in their Mitsubishi video: "They don't care." My 1999 Eclipse (resto-mod) is great although I wish DSM wasn't such a cheap ass offering the 420a engine while other countries got the 4G63 no matter what trim they bought, if not the rare 2.4L 4G64. Shame on you, Chrysler, giving us Americans the sh!t end of the stick.
I have a 1994 3000gt and a 1986 starion esi-r and love them both. I hope that eventually some day ill get to see mitsubishi bring these models back from the dead, even if it was just for another short 10 year term like they did with both of these cars in the first place.

I’m on my 4th Mitsubishi/3rd Lancer and I wouldn’t trade it for anything except an Evo. Even without awd, it’s still fun to drive. Then add some mods and it gets even more fun to drive. I’d love to have you do a review when it’s completed. It would mean a lot.
Same here bro my Mother had a Lancer almost my entire childhood it was a 2002 ES named the "Silver Bullet" lol fast-forward to today she drives an Outlander Sport and I have both a 2017 Lancer & 2015 FE Evo X named Shadow & Snowflake lol
@@Kingshock I’m still on the hunt for my future Evo X. My last Lancer was also named Shadow. Seems to be a popular name amongst black Lancers.
Same here. I love Mitsubishi. Have a Montero right now and love it.
growing up i was surrounded by Mitsubishis in games, movies, irl, and still have one, sad:/
Same driving the last Lancer ever made now
Same, got a Diamante given to me as a first car. Nearly 200K and it's going just fine.
Mitsubishi owns damn near everything. They own union bank
mitsubishi also used to make planes in ww2;the legendary zero
@@acaperic359 yes I've watched that thing too
They are separate entities though, sure they are part of a group of companies, but the car division is like the worst performing now.
They have a air conditioning brand too!
Are you calling Mitsubishi jewish
RIP....
Loved my Colt... Was great in the snow too...
I got a colt fucken love it
I reckon at one point Mitsubishi had one of the best lineups, the 3000gt, Evo, Pajero Evo, Delica 4x4, Colt, legendary Starion, Eclipse, FTO, Cordia, Galant, RVR hypersport, Chariot GT and the Legnum VR4. Make Mitsbishi great again
The FTO was a damn good looking car man
It'll never be the same no matter how hard they try mitsubishi will never be the same. Its the sad truth
Every time I see an eclipse Cross... I die a little inside 💔
Tell me about it. What an insult. poor Mitsubishi
lol times are changing.
@@Hunikengt Just eww. While I would never ever get a crossover. I dont see why someone would pick it while theres so many other, better looking crossovers in the market. Which is why I dont think its doing so well in sales. Hell, I think the Kona is better looking, has more features and is faster.
@@Hunikengt "Fun to drive just like an Evo" yeah keep feeling yourself that. "Pulls hard" dude it makes 150 HP...
*_Did everyone forget about or not know about the Limited Edition Jackie Chan Evo??_*
Fantastic movie
Ah yes, NFS Underground was the start of my knowledge of the Eclipse.
I still use 1989 galant vr4 for rally competition until this year and still a competitive car
I will never sell my 91 3000GT VR-4, yeah Mitsubishi pulled a uno reverse but at one point they started my childhood dream. I love you Mitsubishi :(
I've got a 94 3KGT SL and I'm right there with you, I'll never sell
@@YukiRestrict it's not worth the pain to sell it then regret it later in my opinion.
The Eclipse died in the 3rd gen when they ditched the turbo and awd options.
Mannn as badly as I want an Evo , the fact that they stopped making them really makes me sad and worried about finding parts for them in the future which turned me off on them.
Pretty much. At this point you should just get a subaru

literally was telling someone recently how crap mitsubishi has become given their iconic history so this video is clutch rn
I'm down for this!!! 💯 🤙🏽
Mitsu just had to be like Mazda. Make practical but good economy sedans and SUVs
Then use the profits to support the less profitable brand poster children (like how Mazda has kept the Miata alive even with dwindling sports car sales)
They kinda forgot the profitability part of that equation and then forgot everything else then started eating crayons
It's funny because Mazda figured out the balance do well that the Miata is also one of the most profitable cars on the market. It's depressing watching a sports car icon lose all relevancy.
Rip spider bro... The Starion is one of my favorite cars, hopefully Mitsubishi doesn't go the way of that spider.
I run an program CNC lathes an mills for a living and some of our best end mills and face mill inserts we use are thru Mitsubishi
I Have heard that Mitsubishi is bringing back the Ralliart Section so hopefully some good things may be in the works for the Future.
Ralliart is still very much alive but they told me that they were bored without anything to do atm but however they haven’t been let go so their being held onto for a reason
Ralliart suvs how like Nissan are doing with the juke and titan
I hope they wouldn't do what Toyota does to supra. I hope they revive the evo and eclipse lineup
Bodes well.
I remember when I heard that the eclipse was coming back, only to see another SUV...
I want to cry...
My 92 galant VR4 gaps hellcats and has the original r12 freon in it's functional ac system. I will die with this car. And I'll gap a new soulless electric car too. Mitsubishi ftw!!!!!
Fun fact: the Mitsubishi logo is not a pair of diamonds, it represents the logo of a propeller from an airplane as they started making air planes.

To sum it all up he basically said “I don’t care that you liked the cars, that doesn’t mean anything to me, we are making a lot more money in our other fields, they’re never coming back, deal with it”
Yea that’s a good point too, they shot themselves in the foot with the final eclipse
Mitsubishi doesn't care lol
I so wish 4 wheel steering didn't end as soon as it did. By all accounts cars like the Prelude and 3000GT have next level turn in thanks to effectively having speed-dependent adjustable toe angle
That need for speed cut scene really brought back memories. I always wondered where I’d seen that scene from as a kid
I think they will make a comeback. They seemed to be focused and the 2022 Outlander was enough for me to purchase (SEL Launch edition) replacing my totaled EVO X MR. hoping for a EV-O in the future with S-AWC.
Hoping for a 2025 4000GT VR-8 with a big loud V8 engine
I wished Mitsubishi would rejoin the car enthusiast world again. I love my evo x, and would love to see a the Evo brought back 😭😭😭😭
I'm from japan and many american friends tend to miss the point.
Mitsubishi is a 株式会社 (public owned company) roughly translated sorry
Mitsuishi owns a lot of stuff here in Japan.
1. Aeronotics (they make licenced planes from the US IE F-2 aka JDM ver of f-16.. Also licenced f-15 models,)
2. aerospace and defense (Satelites, tanks, etc..)
3. Retail (Lawson if anyone been to the Japan)
It's Public owned but the Public here wants their Rally cars in America 🇺🇸.
I was staying in a hotel last weekend and I noticed that the air conditioner had a big Mitsubishi logo on it
I went from a Mazdaspeed 3 Bk making about 400hp back to my Lancer Ralliart because I love the brand and the feeling that the car gives me. My Grandfather also had his own offical version of the Mitsubishi Sigma here in Australia, so Mitsubishi is kinda in my blood I guess.
Mitz do not care about the automotive industry anymore, they’ve got so many military contracts coming out of their ass they’re practically a super power
Yeah they making warships and shit
I find myself not really missing the 4G63 in the same way that NA, high revving engines are becoming more and more appealing. Evo owners are one of the groups of enthusiasts that I feel have had a great selection of modern options. pretty much everything recently has been an awd, turbo 2.0l 4 cylinder with large tuning potentials.
I went with the 4B11T
Remembering my Galant VR4.. One of the best car I ever owned
Me too. I loved watching Tom's Turbo Garage build of his VR4 Galant
love paying for premium to see keeps ads in every video.. wp youtube
My favorite part about the starion/conquest is it uses a forklift motor which is how you buy parts for it in today’s age.
I remember in the early 90's everyone had a Mitsubishi so sad. It was a great car company....
I’m a proud owner of a WORKING eclipse😂😂😂
Despite their lackluster performance in the 21st century, Mitsubishi is not a naive company, nor are the people who control the company. If the 400z succeeds, the Supra continues to succeed along with the 86, and more performance cars continue to appear and insert themselves into the market in a sort of “jdm renaissance” I have the feeling Mitsubishi might consider reinserting themselves into the performance car scene. Or maybe there are just the ramblings of a hopefully enthusiast. One can dream, I suppose
Thankyou I needed this people need to know 😭😭. I still have and love my 98 GS
First car was a Mitsubishi colt, here in America it was a dodge but yeah... for a old hand me down of a car I loved it. Put in a low mileage j import engine and a new transmission and it ran forever. Miss that little car, lotta fun times.
Emissions regulations. That's the reason Mitsubishi stopped making the Evo.
It's the reason a lot of new cars seem shit rn(tho I still fwm tbh)
and lack of money,more importantly
This completely forgets to mention that Nissan owns a large part of Mit. and is suffocating them for alternative reasons in the car market.
I really miss Mitsubishi the eclipse was what got me into cars in the late 90s
But I did never know why Daimler let Mitsubishi go back then 🤔
Mitsubishi, also known as the ex-Rally pros and the japanese red Hyundai
If they make a comeback, it'll be one hell of a showdown between japanese manufacturers.
Maybe they'll pull a kia and make a badass out of nowhere
As much as I'd like to see Mitsubishi Motors make a comeback in North America their odds of actually happening are about as much as GM bringing back Pontiac to compete against Dodge.
I had a 3000gt sl, Rest In Peace😭😭

What a shame. I liked the brand.
Jackie Chan was a huge fan, he put a lot of them in his movies.
On the topic of Mitsubishi, how’s Jasmine? I really miss the feisty gal 😥😢
What I can say is that I wish I had a Mitsu Starion in the garage...
Same, we never got them in Canada tho.
Wish i had a Lancer evo 7 wagon.
I have a white starion collecting dust inside one of my hired garages. Couldn't write it off, but I can't find the parts to fix it either. I always loved that design of that car. That's one thing I always liked about mitsubishi too. Their designs.
Keep an eye on local pick n pulls. Been seeing a few of them come and go this last year. Hit em fast though cuz they get stripped within first couple days

The new evo concept that’s been floating around looks good. Hopefully enough hype builds up that tempts them.
