The original and second iteration of the GT4 are some of my absolute favorite cars that I wish I had the opportunity to own. They're just such quirky little 90's time capsules, but they actually have decent traction because of their AWD config, so you're less likely to understeer yourself into a ditch like you would with the standard drivetrain.
The Lincoln Mark VIII actually used the all aluminum 4.6L DOHC V8 similar to what is found in 96-01 Cobras & Lincoln Aviators. Not the iron block SOHC 4.6 found in the GT & crown vic

The gen7 (last one) Celica is actually great. They can’t handle as much power as engines like the k series but they can make enough for anything that isn’t drag racing, generally they start to become unreliable above 250hp - 300hp simply because of their weak gearboxes. However you’ve also got to keep in mind if you get too much hp you’ll get a lot of torque steer simply because it’s an FF. these cars are great specifically to be used as a jack of all trades, It’s amazing on a racetrack on account of the fact it has a similar weight to your average paper clip and passive rear steering. Despite that it’s still perfectly comfortable being used as a daily. Even when boosted they can last seemingly forever, for a stock one they can get well over 250,000 - 300,000 miles without needing a rebuild. I know they have a reputation for being “the bad one” but I think that’s only because of how mighty it’s predecessors were. TLDR it’s great car that simply couldn’t live up to what came before

I know I as one person can’t speak for the whole community, but I would love to see you do some older cars man. Either way dude, I’ll be here to watch. Keep up the good work!

93 Mazda Mx6 was actually my first car. Way before I could afford a Supra. I ended up blowing up the stock motor and swapping in the jdm KLZE engine. After full bolt ons it was actually a fun car. Was cool mopping up new edge mustangs and quick Honda’s at the time(2008) with it. Definitely miss it and sometimes debate picking up another one since they’re so cheap lol.
FORD PROBE YES!! And the MX-6. There's a guy where I live who has a 500HP turbo MX-6. @friendsofdonr on the IG. BTW, all MazdaSpeed Protege's are turbo. The MazdaSpeed MP3 is the NA version.
When I get my S10 Xtreme all fixed up, I’d love for you to drive it! It’s similar to a Miata with the fact that it has not much horsepower but it’s in a smaller package that’s nimble and fun to drive! And not to mention it looks pretty good too (totally not biased) 😝 the only thing that sucks is that mine is an automatic 😑 but it’s still fun as hell to blast around in on backroads.
I was making some food listening through headphones and my head snapped towards my phone when I heard you say cobalt ss. Ive driven an 09 tc for 7 years and have always wished someone would give you a super nice one to review. My ears parked up like crazy😂😂
I have an LFA story. I wasn't really into cars at the time. I was on my way to school on the bus in my very middle class town. We drove past the train station and I saw someone getting dropped off in an LFA. Not having read anything about it, I thought the LFA was a 911 competitor. I liked the look and thought they would be nice to see on the road. Then I found out how rare they were. Haven't seen one in person since!
The Lincoln Mark VII uses the DOHC 4.6 and has an independent rear suspension, based more on the MN12 platform, unlike the Crown Vic. I really wanted one back in the day.
David: People are afraid to email me because they think their car isn't show or go enough. Also David: I want to do a high horsepower *insert car brand* Ford GT is on the ultimate wish list here too. Probably never going to happen. But boy... It is fun to dream being able to slap some cameras on that one. And the LFA? The exhaust cam alone...
I owned a Dodge SRT-4 ACR and it was a fun car but I had a lot of problems with it pretty much the whole time I had it. I bought it with about 16,000 miles and sold it 4-1/2 years later with about 74,000 miles. The only mod I had was a Mopar cold air intake but most of the problems I had were not engine related. It was like everything was falling apart by the time I traded it in. I downgraded to a Chevy Sonic for a while just because I wanted something cheap and didn’t wanna deal with sports car problems. I’ve now owned my 2018 Subaru WRX for 4 years and it’s been great so far.
I like to think that David and RCR are two sides of the same coin, one is more mellow that reviews insane cars and the other is insane that reviews more mellow cars
Hey I actually like these list format videos, just talking about likes/dislikes and dreamlists and stuff, cause you threw a lot of stuff out there that I don't know/think about or often see and that's refreshing just seeing glimpses of the weirder less known stuff
Best put some respect on that Lincoln MKVIII, thats not just any 4.6 ford motor. Thats the DOHC 4v a la Mustang Cobra. The MN12 platform, while big, is comfy, sporty, and IRS. So yes, parts bin era Ford, but the MKVIII sits in a similar vein as the original Taurus SHO, the SVT Contour, the TurboCoupe you reviewed a while back...the best ford had to offer, far too often overlooked. Probe GT was a high school dream dream car of mine, so I would love to see you do a review of a Probe GT/MX-6. How about an MX-3? 1.8L v6 manual hatchback with that quirky-cool mazda 90's styling of the mx-6.
The engine for the original SHO was made for the SHO first. It went into other concepts after. Also, I had a 363W with 650 hp in an AE86 and it handles it fine. The car was a complete monster
Ricky from throttl’s 510 LZ’s R34 is pretty much “the one” A coworker of mine had both version of the colbalt SS. The turbo version seemed a little bit more refined. Both were definitely little sleepers. That nissan wagon reminds me of the NV van they have. But.... the front end swap you showed looked killer.
Maybe consider a 1987/1991 Mazda Mx-6 turbo. With a torquey 2.2L Turbo engine and a nice 80’s body line once tuned propperly tuned. It can be a fast and exciting car. Definitely a car that went under the radar sadly.
As a car-reviewer myself i have some cars my self that are still on my bucketlist to drive and review. For example i still want to drive the R34 GTR even though i have driven the R33. Also if we are talking expensive cars/trucks i have always wanted to drive/review a G63 6x6 ever since i saw it on topgear.
I remember as a kid my dad picked up a og ford S.H.O for $80 out of a friend's impound yard haha seats needed redone but everything else cosmetic/mechanical was mint! He ended up flipping for 2k a couple months later.
Me and my dad saw a blue Eunos Cosmo at Real Street's 2JZ meet last year. Such a timeless car. It was in Gran Turismo 1 and 2, I used that car in those games even though it wasn't the fastest car in the game but it was fun to play around with.
Not dissappointed in any way but I thought this was gonna be about reviews you did that you changed your mind or perspective on and ended up not liking. Would also be interesting...
Barra like the fish. It also came in different versions found in anything from the BA, BF TO FG/FG X Falcons to the Territory SUVs which are based on the Falcon platform.
a buddy let me drive a 2000 Celica Gt back when it was new. Very impressive for what it was. the gt had a fairly broad torque band and it was very nimble.
Out of all those cars you listed, the Mazdaspeed Protegé is actually very very rare. You have better odds of going for a ride in any of the sports cars you listed.
Kind of hard to get one in america, but any of the soviet/ warsaw pact cars, i'm a huge nerd for them and i love the history of how they came to be, surprisingly a lot of them are really fun to drive with how manual and raw they are. I personally own one, a lada 2101 with a dinky 1.2l engine making about 60hp, planning on building it up to about 150hp.
You should try to review a Saturn Ion Redline alongside the Cobalt SS & Dodge Neon SRT-4. The Saturn Ion Redline has the same engine as the Cobalt SS except it's Supercharged. Was one of Saturn's better performance vehicles. There rare & awfully unique & think would be interesting to have up on the channel in comparison David. And not interested in Classic Cars I beg to differ. Throw up a poll for us and see how it fairs. Even let us know ahead of time in a video so as many of us can take part as possible. Your likely right but what if your wrong? In general just love your reviews on practically anything
I've driven two Probes in my life, both stock. One was a first gen turbo 4, I think it was an 89 or 90. I was 17 at the time and that car felt really fast. The second one was a mid second gen with the 2.5 liter v6. The handling on that thing was insane. It was pretty damn quick too.
i think you just need to do more classic cars and such to build up your viewership on them, then they would be getting similar views as the newer cars.
The Lincoln Mark VIII's didn't JUST have the mustang GT engine, they had the 32 valve 4.6 that would become the Cobra engine. They were pushing a fair bit more power than the GT's of the day, of course they're kind of a boat, and only offered with an automatic, but still rear-wheel drive and definitely quick for it's time. Definitely a cool oddball.
Bara, the correct way to say it is the second way you said it. As an aussie tho honestly they're sorta boring engines, yes they're a good engine reliable and make easy cheap power, but they don't rev very high and for the lack of a better word they're souless compared to a RB or a 2J, lack that X factor
Could i add a tip for the older vehicles? Maybe do a bit more a more detailed review of the cars that arent as exciting as some of the higher hp cars to watch. Kinda like going over the interior more in depth and mainyl just do a walk around and i hate to say it but kinda filler tbh. We all love watching your videos because we feel like thats how we would react too. So man the more obsessed you are about the car...the more we're obsessed with the video. Thank you man!
YES!!! Do a Celica! The 2ZZ is actually an astonishing motor! If you come across a Pontiac Vibe GT, it's the same car! Review a Vibe GT dawg.. They sound good 😁
The Celia is basically the same as VTEC. Above 5k rpm it's a weapon but below that it's sluggish. They are pretty quick for what they are though. Had the new Camry engine which are a suprisingly fast car.
Interestingly. The Lincoln Mark VIII has the 32V 4.6 V8, the same one found in the Cobra. But, if I remember right, the Lincoln had it first. If you want something more in line with a Luxury Mustang GT the 89-93 Thunderbird (5.0) or 94-97 Thunderbird LX (4.6 2V) they are RWD and have MOSTLY the same engine and the exact same 4R70W auto trans from the Mustang and the same 8.8 Rear end (I put a 3.73 kit for a Mustang in my 96) they also have Independent Rear Suspension unlike the Mustang which, as you know, was a straight axle. Once I finish mine (it’s stock for now other than a muffler delete and 3.73 gears) I’d love to let you review it. Maybe we can work something out one day. If I ever get it to a point where it’s not just a “Grandpa Car” lol.
I remember writing to you when you first started and you never responded to me 🤷♂️ But, I knew you were / are a busy man. Here we are years later and you own the same model car and have already done everything to make it your perfect version. Pretty cool how life works out 👍
Yo David, been a fan since 2014, but I am surprised by your Lincoln mark VIII remark cause that engine was not the 2v 4.6 found in Crown Vics or Mustang Gts, but was the first rendition of the 4.6 DOHC engine that would be beefed up and found in Thunderbirds, Mustang Mach 1st, Svt Cobras, the legendary SC Terminator Cobras, Mercury Mauraders, and a select few Lincolns, like the Continentals and Aviator and also notably the Koenigsegg CC8S and Koenigsegg CCR. Tldr Lincoln Mark VIII was the Mach 1/ Na Terminator Cobra Mustang before they were a thing and have an interesting history to their liniage with heritage of being an engine variant that has been in some of the most legendary cars of the 90's-00's. Added note, I have alot ton of respect for the 2v 4.6 SOHC as they are near bomb proof and run forever, while also being in legendary cars, like Crown Vics, Mustang Gts, F150 and ect... but as the Dude in Blue himself said Terminators are the American 2JZ of their era and while Ls's and Coyotes can make more power easily, the character of that engine is hard to match and it all started because of the 93 Lincoln Mark VIII, one Lincoln Ford's finest motors, paired to such a quirky car
I don't have a Mazdaspeed Protégé but I do have a modified Mazdaspeed Miata you're welcome to drive. Also a turbo 99 Miata and IRS swapped 04 Mach 1. I am also friends with a guy that has a modified 2g Eclipse GS-T that would likely let you review it although it definitely isn't quite the same as a GSX of course. @@gewoontimm *that is a 1992-1996 Honda Prelude and not a 1997-2001*
Boosted boiz prelude 👀👀👀
It would be cool to see you do some V8 wagons like the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 and the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon.
“That just seems like… a hoot” 😂😂 I just thought that was hilarious
FORD PROBE YES!! And the MX-6. There's a guy where I live who has a 500HP turbo MX-6. @friendsofdonr on the IG.
BTW, all MazdaSpeed Protege's are turbo. The MazdaSpeed MP3 is the NA version.
and the ZX2 🥺
When I get my S10 Xtreme all fixed up, I’d love for you to drive it! It’s similar to a Miata with the fact that it has not much horsepower but it’s in a smaller package that’s nimble and fun to drive! And not to mention it looks pretty good too (totally not biased) 😝 the only thing that sucks is that mine is an automatic 😑 but it’s still fun as hell to blast around in on backroads.
I would love if you did like a left field review and did a lowrider or something like that
Would love more videos like this in the future! I enjoy learning about the cars I don't know exist, and appreciate them in a very similar way to you
I was making some food listening through headphones and my head snapped towards my phone when I heard you say cobalt ss.
My father-in-law has a third gen Eclipse.
It's actually a great roadtrip car. They take it on their yearly roadtrip from Phoenix to Pennsylvania.
The Lincoln Mark VII uses the DOHC 4.6 and has an independent rear suspension, based more on the MN12 platform, unlike the Crown Vic. I really wanted one back in the day.
I had a Mazda protege5 5spd, such a fun utility, lightweight, good handling wagon. Super fun on the back roads
David: People are afraid to email me because they think their car isn't show or go enough.
Also David: I want to do a high horsepower *insert car brand*
Ford GT is on the ultimate wish list here too. Probably never going to happen. But boy... It is fun to dream being able to slap some cameras on that one. And the LFA? The exhaust cam alone...
You should do adam lz barra mustang or his R34 gtr
XJ220 YES! So glad I'm not the only one that's obsessed with these!! :)
Adam lz barra gt350 and his r34
The engine for the original SHO was made for the SHO first. It went into other concepts after.
Also, I had a 363W with 650 hp in an AE86 and it handles it fine. The car was a complete monster
Man you mentioned the Eclipse and i immediately thought of Miguel DSM. He has a clean Eclipse that's look amazing.
Ricky from throttl’s 510
LZ’s R34 is pretty much “the one”
A coworker of mine had both version of the colbalt SS.
There’s a rotorary swapped Suzuki here in CT. They sound and look nasty
I remember as a kid my dad picked up a og ford S.H.O for $80 out of a friend's impound yard haha seats needed redone but everything else cosmetic/mechanical was mint! He ended up flipping for 2k a couple months later.
I have a Stagea 260RS which is a a r33 GT-R with the stagea body put on it. RB26. twin turbo. It is amazing!
I can gladly do that as well. 👍🏼
I've always been interested in your thoughts of the (sort of) recently discontinued accord coupe v6 manual.
He can come check out the Jon and Jon’s ghetto garage accord in harrisburg! 6-6 coupe!
I've got 2 for you........
1991 Mercedes-Benz 350SD (3.0L Inline 6 Turbo Diesel) with Big Turbo
1981 VW Rabbit Pickup with 2.0L 16V swap + Fully Built engine with Turbo & LSD
Out of all those cars you listed, the Mazdaspeed Protegé is actually very very rare. You have better odds of going for a ride in any of the sports cars you listed.
I would love to see you review more five cylinder cars
Kind of hard to get one in america, but any of the soviet/ warsaw pact cars, i'm a huge nerd for them and i love the history of how they came to be, surprisingly a lot of them are really fun to drive with how manual and raw they are. I personally own one, a lada 2101 with a dinky 1.2l engine making about 60hp, planning on building it up to about 150hp.
My first car was a turbo Mazdaspeed protege I miss it so damn much
You should try to review a Saturn Ion Redline alongside the Cobalt SS & Dodge Neon SRT-4.
My family had a second gen V6. The handling was fantastic and it sounded pretty good with no muffler
CTS wagon 3.6 awd is awesome, even better is the V version 556hp caddy wagon!! Even the 3.6 v6 wagon is tunable and there are upgrades for them.
I knew we had similar tastes in cars lol. I have 3 different celicas a dsm an an 02 mustang among other thinks like mk3 supra.
Mk3 Supras and Dsm.....did we become best friends? Lol
i think you just need to do more classic cars and such to build up your viewership on them, then they would be getting similar views as the newer cars.
Bro I own a 95 mark vlll and a 92 5speed sho both in immaculate condition!
There is a wild looking Lincoln mk8 down the road from me. Super crazy wheels and tires on it. I agree with you. I'm in Washington though.
A kid in high school had a gt four celica one town over. It was wild and sounded so good.
My grandma had a Lincoln Mark 8 and I drove it often. I had the opportunity to buy it and passed at the time but I somewhat regret letting it slide.
Keep doing these videos, get the word out so you can review more unique vehicles. Just seems like good business.
Edit: focus svt?
I remember writing to you when you first started and you never responded to me 🤷♂️ But, I knew you were / are a busy man.
Here we are years later and you own the same model car and have already done everything to make it your perfect version. Pretty cool how life works out 👍
Would be cool to see you do a Mad Max or Post Apocalyptic segment of crazy built vehicles
I’d love to see him do a 2006-2008 GD3 Honda Fit sport that’s modified
Celicas are underrated
I own 2 of them 93 and 82
Absolute riots to drive on curvy roads
Miguel dsm for the eclipse he has an evo swap awd his build is on TH-cam
Cleanest eclipse I've seen so far
Also uuhh_son on Instagram his isn’t super clean but is pretty fast
Fun fact David that Lincoln mark Viii that you showed is actually for sale right now on Facebook marketplace
I have a coworker with a McLaren 570s and another with a 2015 Nismo GT-R that may even be open to letting you drive those. This is in Wilmington, NC if you're interested!
The Suzuki Samurai with a Rotary is here in Richmond..I see the guy sometimes at Richmond Cars and Coffee!!
3:50 lol the garden edging front lip, the classic. or maybe its just dinged up to look like it
