That's about -76 degrees Fahrenheit. Here's something to think about: "the enemy" is always just a point of view. There is also accounts of when Stigler learned to be a pilot one of the instructors made a big point out of never shooting down or at someone in a parachute. Stigler saw this limping plane the same as someone in a parachute.

Just got back from watching "The Tour to End All Tours" at the cinema myself, enjoyed it a lot - it brought back memories of seeing them live earlier on the tour, and it was also good to see how much they were enjoying it! That's only the second time I've seen a concert film at the cinema - the first was Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" back in 1982...
If I’m not mistaken, when Stiegler served as a pilot in North Africa earlier in the war his commander had told them something along the lines of ”if I ever see you firing at an enemy pilot hanging from a parachute I will personally execute you when you come back”. This had since stuck with him and he saw the damaged plane as the crews ”parachute” and decided they could not be counted as armed combatants

@Lanae's Honest Opinion: Lanae, I just wanted to add that Franz, by flying ahead and to the left of the Pub, essentially signaled to AA ground crews that he had "captured" the Pub. Thus, the ground crews had standing orders not to fire on captured aircraft. This is why the AA crews didn't fire on the Pub as they flew overhead.
Another fantastic reaction vid Lanae! The Sabaton x Yarnhub animated videos always offer an insightful take on the events that transpired during these times. If I were to suggest another Sabaton x Yarnhub experience it would be The Red Baron animated music vid.
I'm not sure if they mentioned it in the Sabaton History channel, but it was mentioned somewhere that the luftwaffe instructors taught the pilots that they are not to fire on parachutes. They said that if they heard that a pilot shot at a parachute, they would shoot the pilot themselves. Franz considered the B17 similar to a parachute because it wasn't a threat to him, so he refused to fire on it.
War brings out both the worst and the best in humanity. There’s no glory in it, but it does provide an opportunity for humanity to shine its brightest. I think Disturbed said it best in “The Light”: “When you think all is forsaken, listen to me now. Hope’s not forsaken, you need never feel broken again. Sometimes darkness can show you the light.”
German anti aircraft batteries had a rule not to fire at enemy aircraft if friendly aircraft are also there in case of hitting them (At this point in the war the Luftwaffe numbers and resupply was so strained the risk wasn`t worth it) The ME109 pilot knew this and that no one would fire if he was next to them, he escorted them out over Holland to the safety of the channel at the limit of his fuel and returned to base
It's not a female thing, it's a human thing! I'm a male 50+ metalhead having seen this video and reactors probably a hundred times by now and the onion ninja still visits me. Hi! I’m a former Army attack helicopter pilot with combat experience. I can relate to the German pilot. I could have fired on so-called “combatants” and would have been justified but, it wouldn’t have been right. Great reaction! By the way, this song/video gets me teary eyed every time!

American bomber crews used to refer to their fighter escorts as “little friends “. These guys did not dream of having a little friend with German crosses painted on it escort them to safety.
100 degrees F is about 37 degrees C. -60F is about -51C. Zero degrees C is when fresh water and sweat becomes solid ice. 100 degrees C is when water boils into steam. Franz Steigler was accused of wasting ammo on "shadows and rocks" in North Africa but it was a training method - shoot your own shadow on the ground at max speed to work out how to shoot accurately! Allied pilots learned this way too! Some still do! ;) He could quite easily have taken out the B-17 as he was already an excellent shot and an ace in North Africa.
First thing: Thank you! Second: I cried also when I saw this and still do. Third: °C is really easy and logic, 0° is when water freeze and 100°C is when water boils, given altitude/pressure at sea/land-level. So if it was indeed -60°C, it was 60°C lower than when water freeze. However, since the altitude is mentioned in miles and feet I guess it´s -60°F. And a feet is ca 0,305 meter and a US mile is ca 1609 meters, by the way 🙂Oh.. and 1 gallon = ca 3,79 liters. And lastly fourth: Thank you for another, as always, great reaction and video. A song I cannot recommend enough is "The Last Battle". The Last Battle refers to the Battle of Castle Itter, when in 1945, a group of German Wehrmacht troops, U.S. Army troops, and a group of prisoners in the castle defended Castle Itter from Waffen SS troops.

the Knights Cross was a high order, a step above the the Iron Cross. if i remember right a B-29 was considered 3 kills and if you could prove that you shot down enough to achieve 20+ planes, the B-17 counting as 3, would have earned it for him...he was 1 kill away and he gave it up to save a harmless and no threat B-17.

"they are just trying to get to home" and the pilot's home was bombed back to the stone age. If the world you knew is gone...How far would you go to bring it back?
En livstid I krig live in Gothenberg has to be very near future its ostensibly about the 30 years war in 17th century Europe, however the lyrics tell a far more profound story, by the the song is in Swedish so put thr subtitles on
9:54 nope, got nothing to do with that. Franz the Nazi flyer could ans should have shot the damaged bomber to get "The Knight's Cross" . He didn't because the giant aeroplane was not a threat anymore when he spotted it, it was a miracle it flew.. He didn't shoot it down, he escorted it, and blew his chance to get a Knights Cross, a Medal of Honour
Yes, the Knights Cross is the medal they are referring to in the lyrics. I read the 8th Air Force flying B-17s into France and then Germany sustained 10% of all the American casualties during WWII - both Europe and The Pacific campaigns. 115,300+ Served in the 8TH, of those 47,000+ were casualties including 26,000+ dead. Everytime a B-17 or B-24 was shot down, 10 guys went down in the plane. Those numbers are hard to comprehend when you compare how many served total. The crews got to go home if they completed 25 missions. The average number of missions before being shot down was 11. At the altitude they flew, the temperature was 65 degrees below zero. The waste gunners stood at open windows with the .50 cal machines guns trying to shoot down the fighters attacking them. It was basically slaughter at 25,000 feet. Gut wrenching doesn't come close to describing it. My HS girl friends dad flew B-17s and was shot down over France in late 1942. He spent the rest of the war in POW camps in France and Germany. He was the real deal.
What some people don't understand is that just because you were born in Germany doesn't automatically make you a Nazi. Normal intelligence is enough to understand this. In contrast, just because you were born in a democracy does not automatically make you a democrat. So how is it possible and for me as a history-conscious German, it is completely unacceptable that right-wing radical locals are allowed to parade in the USA with the swastika flag in their hands. This is not freedom of thought but an absolute mockery of the millions of victims.
Trust me even men tear up sometimes to some things, if you haven’t already I recommend some five finger death punch songs more specifically wrong side of heaven

It was -60 Celsius, which is -76 Fahrenheit.
.
Funny coincidence
-40 °C = -40 °F
En livstid I krig live in Gothenberg has to be very near future its ostensibly about the 30 years war in 17th century Europe, however the lyrics tell a far more profound story, by the the song is in Swedish so put thr subtitles on
-60 celcius is -76 fahrenheit.. yea pretty fucking cold
Next you need to check out 1916 and also Soldier of Heaven from Sabaton!
Thank you. If he is am Marine, you should look att the sabaton song " Devil dags " Greetings from Sweden.
Sabaton 1916 is the one to react too
To understand how cold -40F = -40C
Your husband will cry,too.
Let out an expletive... he said a bad word... he swore
One to definitely show your husband is Devil Dogs. It’s about the US Marines in WW1.
Yes, the Knights Cross is the medal they are referring to in the lyrics. Your commentary of the cruelty of war lead you to a Nightwish song regarding a soldiers emotional turmoil over killing for his country.

Shalom. ❤
Please reacting Sabaton - Lady of the dark (Animation Version)
Since your husband is an "ex" Marine, you should try Devil Dogs by Sabaton!
it refers to the German Iron Cross
Pity you watched the history channel first. Oh well too late now.
with your husbands being a marine, you might want to react to sabaton devil dogs, a song about the US marines, and its sabaton so can you really ask for anything else
Watching the backstory first kind of wrecks any reaction
FYI: they pronounce things differently 'cause it is "British English". Live and learn, right :)
Trust me even men tear up sometimes to some things, if you haven’t already I recommend some five finger death punch songs more specifically wrong side of heaven
Devil dogs
The official music video please?
@Lanae's Honest Opinion if your hubby an ex marine he would like Sabaton's Devil dogs it about how the Marine's got their name Devil dogs
Others to Sabaton songs to watch are
NightWhiches Animated Story Video
To Hell and Back Official video
Defense of Moscow Official music Video it is cover of and a Russian singer called Radio Tapok
Screaming Eagles Official music video
Attack of the Dead men Official lyric video then do live version of attack of the dead men
82nd All the way official music video
There are many more songs could recommended keep up the good work and i concur about not watching the history channel before the song and do history channel after the song as the song will have more impact listening to the song before you go to the history channel Many other reactors also film themselves reacting to the history channel
Don't be shocked if His Daughtet replies. She is somewhat active here.
Why say the story before no to look the video
The Book Unbroken was better then the movie. Filled in a lot of holes in the movie
🐕
👍🥲
Having seen the history, you got a heads up on the surprises that catch those who go into the reaction blind.
Bucees?! Where are you located?
You arent reacting to the story if you researched it before 😂🙄
