This Canadian 🇨🇦 has always absolutely adored this song! To me, it evokes a feeling of nostalgia, even melancholy as you look back at life - & it reminds me of the era it came out in, many memories of childhood.
I'm a proud Canadian from Kingston Ontario that absolutely loved this band and song when I first heard it in the 1970's. Just a great song with great lyrics!!! ...
At 75, Bill Henderson still rocking on so many years down the road of life. Last saw him at the Toronto Auto Show where he delivered some fine goods. I suspect the day will come down the road when he'll rise from his death bed to knock another one out of the park before taking his talent to the big house in the sky. He always had it. And he has it still.
Brother I grew up on Bill's music and this could have not been more perfect. Taylor I love you I love the band holy moly for me this is music history and God bless Bill how can you sing like that at 75 you have been blessed by the Rock Gods 🙂
Came back to listen to this again. A great band from Vancouver that we who live in Chilliwack call our home town band. Check out Chilliwack - My Girl (1981).
The strings are what is referred to as "catgut", they are not made of that anymore nor were they made from cats but intestines of other animals like surgical sutures in the past.
Besides Chilliwack there were plenty of great bands from the Vancouver area at that time. Trooper, Prism, Stonebolt and Doug and the Slugs just to mention a few.
I saw Chilliwack at a street concert last summer in... Chilliwack. Bill still has it. Some other songs to try: Arms of Mary, My Girl and California Girl.
Oh my gosh, how did you find these guys out?! :D Thank you for giving your time to react to them. The "Wanna Be A Star" album they have from 1981 is great. "Breakdown In Paradise" from 1979 is a close second.
I usually don't care for live performances when the recording is so universally loved, but I really liked it, he still got it at age 75. The girl looked familiar but she is Taylor James and not someone else who I thought it might be.
Old band guys...on the Pink Floyd Pulse there's a guitar player standing over by the singers. He played guitar for a band called Quiver. There should be stuff out there by the Sutherland Brothers And Quiver. Oh yeah, I have 7 albums by Chilliwack.
Incredible performance. For those of you not familiar with the band Chilliwack, below is a link to a live performance of this same song by Bill and the boys, from the late 70's. Jump suits and much hair. A couple more of my favorites by Chilliwack are "Arms of Mary" and "Crazy Talk". th-cam.com/video/WJEaPTox6to/w-d-xo.html
Guitar strings were originally made of catgut .not sure if that's what it really was or just a name. I suspect it wasn't actually cat guts. But when animals were butchered things like tendons ligaments and other membranes were saved for all sorts of things.
The original recording is performed a few tones higher, and as you said Ty, just something about the melody that engages me. Been a favourite since the first time I heard it. Oh, and by the way, the apology was to berlyn3014 for referring to the guitar strings as cat gut.😊
Yes! That's an excellent album by then. "Living In Stereo" is very catchy and "So You Wanna Be A Star" has some phenomenal drumming, especially toward the end.
The iconic Chilliwack hit My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone) Hokey video, great song, everybody of that time in Canada knows that certain part of the song :) Cued. th-cam.com/video/yahBtp_1jWE/w-d-xo.html I almost forgot, the hilarious SCTV takeoff of My Girl th-cam.com/video/q9MFqgtzb9A/w-d-xo.html

Seen both live in their primes. Either would be pleased to be mentioned in the same sentence with each other and in fact, together would've made a super band even better than each of 2, in my view. Quite a statement. But wish I could have seen such a collaboration.
Pretty evident you don't know Chilliwack. There was a time when you could go through people's albums and usually find the same ones. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours, Heart Dreamboat Annie and more often than not Chilliwack - Dreams, Dreams, Dreams
@@jethro1963 I think Stephen is basing his comment on one performance only. This late in the Bill Henderson catalogue one. Where he likely has a lifetime exposure to Lynrd S. If he digs into prime Chilliwack he'll gain a greater appreciation. I think that's a fair approach that would yield rewards.
@@2zxodcfm this song was written and performed in the 70's. They are a Canadian band so maybe not alot of exposure where you are. They hit it big internationally in the early 80's. My reference to later in life was not about the song but his performance.
@@juststephen1094 Fair enough, Stephen. Want you to know that I am Canadian so I've known and enjoyed Chilliwack for a very long time. Bill's delivery here for me is not expected to equal a 70's performance but I know that he can still deliver better than most at his 'advanced stage of decomposition.' LoL. He'd likely agree with that way of putting it. And as a aside, I still miss Ron Tabak and the gems that Prism left for us! I suspect you do as well.
One of the best songs of all time, period. Just watched them play in Regina, Sk 2months ago live. Still rocking.
Excellent version of this song.

I think it's the organic food from his own garden , Bill sound's as good as did when this song came out 45 years ago !

From chilliwack b.c. Canada...thanks for the review great memories from the 70's+ 80's..well done peace..👋👍🇨🇦🇬🇧👍👋
One of the most underrated songs ever. Still prefer the original studio version but quite surprised by this version👏
Underrated Canadian band
Always liked “Chilliwack “ from the 80’s!
i like it when a white haired man shreds his guitar,it's poetry in motion.peace to all.
Watching from Vancouver. I was just in Chilliwack this morning!
I might have seen you lol I live in Chilliwack
One of the best night time highway songs.
Never heard of Bill Hendetson before, but he really can tickle those cat guts.
He fronted the Canadian band Chilliwack who had a bunch of great hit songs in Canada :)
Wow. I bought the album when it came out. That Bill is still sounding this good is amazing
Ole school y'all
flows very nice.

They've many great hits. Like, watcha ganna do when I'm gone.
One of my fav songs.
First time I ever heard him. I liked his voice.

Great tune!
Wow they were really good I like this song. They got it going for sure.

Hard to believe he sounds that great at 75!!
Wow still rocking it. 👏
You have listen to the studio recording. It’s fabulous.
I think the lyrics are in reference to spending their nights on a plane to make it to the next concert date.
Nice song. A band singing song about what it is like to be in a band .😊
I've loved this band ever since my mom repeatedly played them in the 70s. I was 7 when I first heard this gem.
Oh my gosh, how did you find these guys out?! :D Thank you for giving your time to react to them. The "Wanna Be A Star" album they have from 1981 is great. "Breakdown In Paradise" from 1979 is a close second.
Don’t drive and listen to this song. You’ll end up speeding and putting the pedal to the metal! 😆
Nice treat. Thanks for covering this song. Takes me back.

taylor james has a web show pairing wine with the musician she interviews, then sings with them
Never hear this, but was enjoyable.

The house band for thus show is super tight. The steel guitarist is smooth and wasn’t used on the original studio recording.

Wow! That is the tightest cleanest version of FBN that I have ever heard and Taylor is not hard to look at either!

Also, Catgut were musical strings made from intestines of pigs or cows. Not cats. Cattle-gut is the actual term. It's a very ancient technique
Check out Chilliwack's, "So You Want To Be A Star" album. It's all good. Not a bad song on the whole thing.
Yes! That's an excellent album by then. "Living In Stereo" is very catchy and "So You Wanna Be A Star" has some phenomenal drumming, especially toward the end.
Something Better is another song of theirs you should check out
Cat guts are strings....right

communication breakdown and arms of mary great songs
Better drums in the original, I do love Taylor tho. The song is about their love of performing to an audience

I've watched two of your new videos tonight and I didn't hear any ticking.
👏🌟🌟✔
I think all original members have passed away except bill
Do more basic car reviews and consumer repairs.

a poor man's Lynard Skynard......ok, I guess

Never heard this before but it was really good! I really enjoyed the entire performance, his voice, the musicianship, really cool 🖤🤘
