First heard this in college at Plattsburgh State University, which is just south of the border on Lake Champlain. What a time to be alive. Chilliwack are amazing. So glad we were able to get all those great Canadian radio stations at Plattsburgh. I spent almost half my life along the NY / Canada border and always enjoyed Canadian rock as well as the Canadian TV. Things like the Red Green Show or Corner Gas or bands like Rush and Chilliwack. Canada is so cool.
archangele1, I was a Plattsburgh alumni, too. Class of 1987. I remember Jefferson Starship at the school in 1984, Nuclear Furniture tour. Life in the North Country.
Worked on Postering the Town with their Concert Posters when they performed at Kingston's Memorial Auditorium... The Band appreciated how the streets were "Chilliwacked"! Incredible Live! Awesome Musicianship!!!
Back in the good ol days when, at least in NY state where I grew up , rock ruled the radio, all the malls around me had at least two record stores ( i remember one that had three), not to mention department stores such as Sears and JC Penny's had HUGE record and home stero departments which reminds me; every other home that I ever visited had 1-3 big stereo systems in it depending how many people where living there, also everyone appreciated good guitar playing, including......females (like your sister and yes, even your girlfriend)! Lol. So many good memories of those times. Oh yeah... this is a great video, thanks for sharing it.
Fantastic Band and guitar work! - Funny story... I was in Chilliwack on vacation and went into the local music shop to buy their CD, they never heard of them, WHAT! YOU'RE JOKING!
Yes!!!... i have in my collection since the year 1999 the CHILLIWACK first LP "DREAMS, DREAMS, DREAMS" that have this songs "Fly At Night (in the morning we land) side one track one, and "Something Better" side two track two, recorded at Can Base Studios, Vancouver, B.C., Mushroom Records 1976, the band played exactly note by note but it's awsome to see them played live, one of my favourites canadian bands along with THE GUESS WHO and BACHMAN-TURNER-OVERDRIVE, kudos from Guadalajara, México 27-diciembre-2022 ✌😎
Berrycup Blooze Band opened for Chilliwack in the Gardens- late 60's. The sound check was a gong show, the sound crew were gooned and some of the Chilliwack guys showed up and got the show back on track. The Drummer let our drummer use his kit so we wouldn't have to break down so much gear at the break. Top drawer guys! Dave Russell
It must have been the *very* late 60s, 'cause they didn't change their name from the Collectors to Chilliwack until the latter half of '69. And they never headlined at the Gardens in the 60s. Woulda been there for sure if they had. They were a fantastic band in those days, before their music degenerated into mainstream pop in the early 70s.
CHILLIWACK is: Bill Henderson- lead vocals, acoustic & electric guitars & solina; Howard Froese- vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, solina & pianos; Glenn Miller- vocals & bass; Ross Turney- drums & percussion; and in the keyboards M. Lawrence
I love the sound and imagery in Something Better. The first two minutes feel like they should be the soundtrack to a fantasy movie where the heroes prepare for the final battle.
Chilliwack,Trooper,April Wine. Great Canadian Bands.🍷👍
And Haywire! 👍
And Collectors..
I’ll give them a listen.
First Canadian record to get a 5 star review in Rolling Stone. Also the band Jerry Garcia said was the best live act he ever saw.

This song is that old?
shame 70s progressive rock genre didnt co-exist well with newer music as 80s drew near?
RUSH much?
They were around way before rush.
