i would like to add a comment to Lanesharks brush cutter, I believe adding wheels to the cutter would make it more efficient , with adding wheels you could use your front end loader in the float position and the brush cutter could easily roll across the ground and follow the terrain. I have seen these on bobcats and that is the thing they have the most trouble with, controlling the brush cutter and keeping it out of the dirt, thanks I hope this works for them, with the bobcats being so short they tend to bounce a lot.

Great video. Keep up the good work. What you keep calling a pump, is actually a hydraulic motor. The pump is what supplies the hydraulic fluid to drive the motor, that drives the blades.
Something you're not considering is, when you are grinding the brush driving straight into it, you must remain aware of the angle of the mowing deck in relation to the operator's position. When ever you're seeing the underside of the mowing deck, one of these just cut branches can get thrown in your face. Many skidsteer mounted mowers have a chain attached from the mower to the skidsteer, to keep the operator from raising the deck high enough to allow the mower to throw waste material at the operator. Bobcat actually includes a Lexan door to attach to the skidsteer in front of the operator compartment for the operator's safety.

The utility of this unit is rather amazing, I run a 6 ft diamond brush cutter and its a truly amazing machine but it throws shit around like you cannot believe and thank God 99% of its under the deck being chopped but every once in awhile you will see a chunk of wood come out at about 300 mph and fly off to places unknown if the operator got hit by one of those 1% pieces it could easily kill you, that is what would worry me about this unit it looks dangerous as hell!

just as with any machine...you've gotta keep an eye on the arms, loader, rear attachments and hoses. If they are constantly catching ya might consider some heavy duty zip ties. If you're using it in the woods....just be careful as you would with any cutter my friend

Hi Josh, Thanks for the vid of Lane Shark. Have seen other earlier vids of iterations of this tool, and have considered getting one, or similar. Recently I've seen it and it's closest competitor over on Messick's TH-cam channel. I suggest you look at the comparison of the TrailBlazer One to the Lane Shark. Lot of similarities, and some acute differences in TB's version. Personally, I prefer the spring loaded blade cover on the front, and the separate hydraulic tank on the 3PT to allow separation from the tractor's hydraulics. Driven off a rear hydraulic tank by a attachable 3PT pump, the tractor's HST, or manual trans is isolated from added heat, or possible cavitation of the hydraulic fluid, that could damage or destroy the tractor's main hydraulic pump.
Lane Shark is now cautioning their customers to return hydraulic fluid from their mower's mounted pump to the tractor's main hydraulic pump/reservoir without installation of their additional 'plumbing', which bypasses the usual route of the circuit's return line, unlike a third function valve would do for a grapple, or other front mount implement.
Yes, more expensive to buy the rear mounted 15 gallon tank and PTO pump, BUT which would one do; take a chance of damage by excessive heat or other issues to their main transmission pump or isolate it from any chance of unwarranted damage and costs of rebuilding/replacement?
Messicks has sold both brands, but according to what Neil Messick told me, in a lengthy conversation of the pros/cons of each design, they are discontinuing the Lane Shark and sticking with the Trail Blazer going forward.
My point here is not to slam one brand and promote another; instead I want readers here to know that IMHO, there is a different approach to some of the problems that these front mount mowers present, (in current form(s). My want is a mower that will cut ditch grass and sloped embankments, which neither of these mower companies can do currently without adding another cylinder for angle adjustment, or a similar solution. And if one considers the problems of angling toward the tractor to cut ditch banks etc. it becomes obvious the engineering is not the issue; the resulting flying debris toward the tractor operator IS the issue. Commercial grade highway mowers are almost always protecting the operator inside an air conditioned cab, most likely with safety glass or a forestry cage, and mount the mower to the undercarriage of the tractor rather than directly in front of an open station tractor, where the operator would be in serious danger from any debris flying toward them.
I hope you and other subscribers find this useful, I've given it serious consideration and will likely wait until there is a front mount mower that can do what I need it to, and safely for an open station tractor operator.
    Cheers!

I've been waiting for this video. Seriously looking at one to tend 200 acres, just don't have the coin to switch my loader to ssqa, plumb, and purchase this mower right now. Thanks. Would love to visit. Heading to Moravian Falls next month to visit some friends.

Looks like a great one to use in tandem with the woods mower and get as much cleanup done as possible.

Dang! Tractor time with Tim is definitely gonna want to try that beast next. Awesome job all way round

My dads work uses this same concept except the tractor has a boom in the fron that allows the blade to be moved back in forth and all sorts, so i guess the lane shark is a hobby/cheaper option vs the boom

What an incredible piece of machinery! Looks too small to do the work it does.
    Was very impressed.
Once again, great video...great commentary and as always, Loved the Bloopers 😊😁😊

Nice machine. Looks like you need a full cab to use it as you plan to, there were a lot of branches and treetops flailing around as you pushed in and down.

That a cool attachment for farm equipment 😎

I think I'd use it on its side cutting the higher branches while running the bush hog behind me to mulch up the rest. would seem to be the quickest way to get stuff done.
