One HOUR! Garden Revival | Helping A Young Mum with a GARDEN Makeover.

- This young mum needs some help getting her garden back into shape ready for summer. A quick transformation of the overgrown and weed ridden yard was the only way to get the garden into a more easily manageable condition.
Watch how this garden comes back to life and what difference one hours work and giving back to someone else can do.
This quick makeover will allow a young boy and his mom and dad to spend some lovely time outdoors and make it far easier for them to maintain later on.
Thanks for watching
Martin.

Your homeowners must feel so relieved once you are done. The changes are always remarkable. I think it would be encouraging if you left them a potted flowering garden plant somewhere in the landscape, as if to say . . . "Here is your starter garden, now carry on."
That’s the perfect size lawn for most seniors. I have a little over an acre to try to keep up with. It looked so much better. One more thing, always listen to your wife. 😊
Wow, one acre....I could grow a serious amount of food in that much land. You lucky thing 😁 although I'm sure it's a fair amount of work. So you may not feel lucky 😂
Thanks for the comment 👍
Martin.
@@martinthegardenguy Слушать всегда жену не обязательно 😂
Not as often as she thinks I do 😊😂
Agree move shed to adjacent corner regain patio for table and chairs ,another room
If you don't have room to store a bunch of yard equipment, it seems like all you really need is a strimmer to keep it neat. Cracking job Martin 💗💗
You're probably right 😊 It wouldn't be the best cut in the world, but it'd work OK 😁 I'd get bored of raking up the grass, though 😅, and strimmers are quite messy.
Thanks for the comment, as always 👍 😊
That was a kind thing you did for family, tidying up a sweet small garden. First time I saw a gardener using the flame thing to burn weed 👌
Oh yes, that little weed flame gun is awesome. Albeit a little dangerous 😂 I spend quite a bit of time stamping out little fires. They are good though, in the right place 😅 and at the right time.
Thanks
Martin
Just watched 👍love your work.😊
Lovely small garden easy to manage now you’ve sorted it Martin. ❤❤Pauline. Wiltshire
Pauline, you're an absolute diamond 😊 thank you.
I've never seen that scorching tool before, genius! Great job as always, looks lovely. x
Oh, thank you 😊
Yeah, the weed wand is awesome 😂 albeit a little dangerous 😅 better than pouring weed killers all over everywhere. That is, as long as you don't set fire to anything 😁
Love the matching gear to your lawn equipment ❤
Haha, me to 😊😅 I'm a bit obsessed with the wolf garten tools. There awesome 👍
It's like collecting stamps....but I collect gardening tools! 😂
Lovely job and a garden can be enjoyed again. The simple things are the best things 😊
Oh yeah, I love doing these little gardens. They are quite simple, but the owners are always blown away with the improvements 🥰 and it doesn't take much effort. This only took me an hour, and I wasn't going fast either 😅
Now you have it all cleaned up the lady will be able to sit out there when the weather is nice and her son can play in safety
So true, I had a very lovely picture from the mum later on that afternoon. The boy was already out playing 😊 and having fun.
That was great and very kind of you, Martin. And isn't it wonderful for them (as others) to have this tutorial they can always reference of just how to keep their own space a source of the good kind of pride (personal responsibility in daily effort) going forward!
Oh, thank you. I've never thought about it like that before, but you're totally right. I forget some people don't really know where to start when it comes to gardening.
Thanks, you've given me a new perspective 😊👍
I really appreciate it.
Martin.
@@martinthegardenguy If you knew how rare it is to receive a "thank you", to be appreciated, to be thanked for giving a new perspective in my "world" you might understand why I am thanking for a thank you for a thank you. Do you think that little garden gnome my (adult) son rather insisted I buy for our own garden just a few days back has anything to do with this UNUSUAL event? God bless. Kris MN
Oh Kris, in that case, I'll say thank you again 😊 I really meant it. Super lovely to get such nice (and useful) comments.
Garden gnome? I haven't seen one for ages 😂 I never actually liked them, but dam, they always made me smile 😁 or maybe I do like them, and I'm just lying to myself 🤣
Martin you always do such a great job bringing the yards/gardens back to life. They are so relaxing and very pretty. By the way, I put my plants outside and my rottie took off with my Venus fly trap! Have to see if the store has more! Lol
😂 I literally laughed out loud when I read this. I can't believe the naughty boy ran off with your Venus fly trap. You've only had it a few weeks 😂 I bet the German shepherd is far more well behaved 😁🤞
@@martinthegardenguy yes my shepherds don’t bother anything! Yesterday he pulled my mother in tongue as the call it out of the pot it was in!
Oh dear, he sounds like a very naughty boy 😂 either that, or he really likes plants.
Looks beautiful. Nice job.
Thank you 😊 🙏 Very much appreciated.
Martin.
Great pruning ,made the place look much bigger, and now more large thorns to run into
Thank you 😊
Thank you 😊 what a lovely comment. I appreciate it 🙏 😊
Well done on helping out the elderly 👍 great stuff.
Another good job😊😊
Lovely makeover Martin, very clean job!! Bless you
Thank you 😊 🙏
A wise man listens to his wife!!😂😂 Another job well done!!❤
I certainly can't argue with that 😁 nor would I want to 😂
Lovely tidy up😊
Cheers ☺️ much appreciated
Martin.
A nice size for busy mom lovely clean job 💯👍👍👍🌟
Oh yes, I agree. Perfect size for a litte family. It shouldn't be too hard to keep looking nice.
Thanks for the comment. 😊👍
Martin
Such a lovely transformation! Family friendly!❤
Thank you 😊 🙏 I do love these little garden tidy ups. It is such a great effect for only a little work 😅 and it blows the owners' socks off with happiness 😊
Hi, Martin. It's good to see you again.
Good to see you to 😊👍I hope you're doing well.
Realy enjoy your gardening.
Thanks ☺️ I'm really glad you're liking the videos. It means a heck of a lot to me.
So a super big thank you from me to you 😊
Really good job there Martin the lady must of been over the moon with your work. I have done many of these small unkept gardens myself and you never get bored of the customers reaction
Oh yeah, so true. They are quite easy, really. Especially if you have a few tools. She was ecstatic, got a photo sent of the boy playing in the garden that evening 😊 awesome.
Where abouts do you work? I take ot your a fellow worker of the land? 👍
Lovely little garden. Beautiful job. Bless you. Please stay safe
Thanks Linda ☺️ 😊 super kind of you.
All the best
Martin.
Love the flamethrower.😂
First time watching, nice work
Oh, thanks 😊 🙏 I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I really appreciate the comment.
All the best
Martin.
Hello I’m from Puerto Rico and love your videos
Awesome 😊 I'm glad you're enjoying them. Thanks for the lovely comment.
Puerto Rico? I always wanted to go there, but I have not managed it yet, though 🤞
Greetings from Nottingham 😊
A very well done transformation. Nice garden too xx
Thanks Joanna ☺️ 👍
I can’t help myself , when I see a garden my imagination
Starts going on overdrive.
I see the shed moved to the end of the garden
Maybe on the slant,
I want to plant a tree and fill a border with clematis
And foxgloves.
I have to remind myself it’s not mine!
This is your job Martin and it pays the bills
But I know you are a true gardener,
How do you cope with following
A clients wish to keep the plants in check?
Do you get more enjoyment when gardening
In a garden filled with wildlife.
By the way this is not aimed at any particular garden
Just a thought!
Best wishes.
Oh, hello 👋
This is exactly how I feel in all my clients' gardens. I always say (in my head) what I'd do if it were mine 😂
I am quite picky in my clients though, there's lots of things I refuse to do. Like installing artificial turf, and things like that. I also refuse to prune things that are flowering. Unless there's a very good reason. Touch wood, my clients are always happy for me to have free reign 😁 and the free jobs I do, I have total autonomy of course 😀
P.s yes, I love gardens that are full of wildlife. The more, the merrier 😄
Nice golden leaved Choisyia Ternata, and that looks like a Robinia Pseudoacacia Frisia you were pruning. They can be very spiny when young.
If I could give you 100 points and a gold star, I would 😊😁 that's was amazingly well spotted from the video.
I had to look it up when I got home as I couldn't remember the name! 😂 and I've been at this job for more than 25 years as well.
Did you see how surprised I was with the thorns just before I put my gloves on? 😂
Thank you so much
Martin.
Nice job
Cheers! much appreciated 😊
Martin
Hi 👋 Martin that was a great 👍 job on your family’s garden 🪴 i love ❤️ those flame 🔥 guns great for burning the weeds of David owe sometimes what the wife says David 🔥👌🇬🇧❤️👍🪴
Cheers David 👍 the weed burner is pretty cool, actually. It works really well, although the ignition switches tend to stop working, so I have to carry around a lighter with me 😅
Plus, if I fancy some marshmallows while I'm working, I can roast them 😁
Really nice, perfect little yard. Could the patio pavers maybe need some sand brushed in to help keep the weeds down? I mixed salt in with the sand when i did my mom’s patio, and it seems to have really helped.
That's a great idea 👍 it does help. Although I've not done it for years, I tend to use manual ways to keep the weeds down. Or my new flame gun 😂
I would have got rid of that Bush as well but you done a good job in that garden
I'll get back and give it a trim when it's finished flowering. There is no way I'm removing a beautiful Choysia like this 🤣 it smells delightful.
Excellent
Thank you 😊
Nice work as usual!
Thank you 😊 🙏 👍 much appreciated.
Hiya, I see you use a petrol mower. Is there a battery mower that you would recommend as I don’t think I’d be able to lift a petrol mower in and out of my car 😮
Nice little transformation there mate, good idea with the weed burner. Hope your keeping well?
Oh yeah, I used to have one years ago. But the gas was quite expensive. It's pretty cool 😅 works a treat on gravel.
I'm doing OK buddy 👍 weather is finally improving. It's been scorching here today.
How you getting on dude?
What a lovely little yard! I hope your niece in law invites you all for lemonade and cookies to celebrate! Btw, are you able to get back to the yard you did for peanuts and a bug hotel? That was another little yard that could be gorgeous
Oh yes, I've been in touch with her recently. I'm planning to revisit within the next week or so. I've been waiting for the plants that I have sown to grow.
Just a selection to plants in the garden. I'm not sure I'll be getting paid peanuts again, though 😅 maybe I'll ask for some bird boxes this time 😁
P.s niece in law was very very happy, as was her boy. He was out in the garden that afternoon, apparently 😊
Ding ding ding
Hi Martin it's good to see you again what is the plant you are pruning back
Oh hi 👋 ☺️
The one's in the patio were self set buddleia. I like them, but not when they are growing out of a patio and ruining a fence 😅 quite easy to take out, though.
I hope you enjoyed the video 😊
Thanks, as always.
Martin.
Hi great videos been helping
Me as I start out with gardening work , was wondering what model the Makita strimmer is thanks
Keep up the great videos
Hi, it's a Makita Twin 18v engine unit, with their strimmer head. Strictly speaking, this makes it 36v. But it's a lovely strimmer 👍 last quite a while on a full charge.
Have you just started your own business?
I haven’t set up as of yet , I’ve been doing friends and family along side my job as a postman , if I’m honest I’m scared of the jump
To being fully self employed , thanks for the reply , I’m getting my tools bit by bit unsure what to buy , really enjoying your videos keep up the great work
Well done, mate, that's exactly how I did it. Although that was over 20 years ago 😅 it's the best way to start off. Best of luck.
P.s Drop me an email if you like with any questions when you get set up. It'll take me a few days to reply. But I'll get back to you. Gardeners should watch out for each other 😁👍
martinthegardenguy@gmail.com
That would be great thanks so much for taking the time to reply
How many batteries do you go through a day mate
Honestly, it depends mate, the hedge cutter and strimmer last for ages. But the leaf blower will flatten two batteries in about 10 mins.
I keep 10 fully charged in the van, and I've never run out during a job.
Although my mower is petrol, lof it was cordless I'd needs a lot more batteries. 👍😅
@martinthegardenguy OK cheers Martin my petrol strimmer is on borrowed time now so I was going to get battery 🔋 power next makita are heavily into the battery garden kit now. Great stuff 👏
No worries, mate, I'm happy to help.
They are quite good nowadays, although the money investment in batteries is far different than a can of petrol! 😂 and you'll have to step up your van security.
Haha, that's totally normal 😁😊
I like a nice, even lawn and tidy patio, but I also like long grass to 😁 so I'm always happy 😅
Thanks Olga
Martin
Hi, what head unit are you using on the strimmer? Many thanks
Hi mate. It's an Oregon speed fit head 👍 the original Makita one wore through almost to the springs! 😂
💚👍👍👍
Thanks ☺️ 😊
That was some SERIOUS paver weeding - mini chainsaw(!) and weed burner 😮
When are pavers going to learn their purpose in life is meant to be NOT LETTING THE WEEDS GROW? 😅
What was that weed burner thingee?
Haha, yeah, the pavers were virtually useless at their main job 😂
The weed wand? It's just especially a blowtorch, but made specifically for weeds. It's pretty good, although the obvious risks are there.
It fulfills my pyrotechnics fascination 😁
❤👍👍👍
Thank you 😊
hello , why i not see , the young mum ,
Because she wasn't at home 👍 she was out at work.
You need to be careful when you are near thorns
Indeed, I do, unfortunately it's a hazard of the job 😂 I do wear my gloves, though, as I'm definitely not keen on getting spiked.
Thanks for the comment
Martin.
@@martinthegardenguy you're very welcome there Martin
Great job 👍 Keep listening to your wife and she will pay you in gratetude instead 😊
Haha, I keep hoping so 😂
But this job is definitely "one in the bank" for next time I want a favor 😁
👍🇰🇿🖐🎉
Thank you 😊 🙏
❤👏❤👍❤️💐🇷🇺
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
All those cutting Fri leant from back door patio, could be grown else where all papers should be cleared 100% as they are a trip Hazard
Why do you think young people are not into gardening.
Great question, I think some are, but I can only speak to my own experience. I loved it when I was a kid, and my young kids seem to enjoy it as well. They certainly like watering the plants anyhoo.
But I'm putting a lot of effort in to make them love the outdoors. 😁
