Elderly Couple SHOCKED at 4 HOUR garden makeover!

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 28 ก.ย. 2024
- This elderly couple are no longer able to look after their garden, due to declining health issues. I was asked to take a look, the elderly couple (both over 90 years old) wanted a blank slate so that a family member can look after it for them from now on, and keep the garden looking nice.
Having the right tools would let me clear it in only four hours, they couldn't believe it, they thought it would take days to sort out.
After I have given this yard a full makeover, it would then be far easier for a grandson to help out and keep it tidy.
They couldn't believe this transformation.
As always, thanks for watching

Thank you so much for doing this!!! Our elderly that are healthy enough to stay in their homes are often not mobile enough to maintain them. You are a blessing!
Oh wow, thank you so much. That's greatly appreciated 😊 I hope you enjoyed the little video. Thank you so much for watching.
Martin.
❤
I like to see you cleaning the beds, this is what I call true gardening.
Thanks ☺️ I'd probably still do it this way, even if they invented a machine that could do it for me.
I find it very therapeutic 😅
I appreciate your attention to detail and your kind hearted approach to your clients 😊
Thanks ☺️ that was super kind of you to say. Much appreciated.
What a great video this time too! 😆 You don't just get rid of all the plants, you are a wonderful gardener who delicately 'takes care' of customers' gardens! 👏👏
Oh, thank you. You're an absolute diamond 😊👍🙏
Although, full disclosure. I accidentally caught the only flower on that peony rose with the strimmer. 😅 I did, however, feel very bad about it.
I would guess that keeping up with the weeding of the garden would be the most challenging for grandkids and great-grandkids. Great job Martin! Enjoying your channel!
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it 😊 it definitely makes it worthwhile.
You were bang on about the weeding in those empty borders. It'll be a lot of work. So more plants and grass, paradoxically, will mean less work than empty borders.
Thanks again
Martin
Agreed. Need some weed barrier and rock or bark mulch over those areas. Then can pop some plant pots on top!
Ground covering plants, but where its narrow you then have to keep trimming them back within bounds. Violets would do well under the plum.
It's satisfying watching you helping those people with a fresh start .I do the same only at weekends.Good job.
Oh, good for you 👍 well done. Far more work when you have to give up some of your weekends, so super well done. 😊
I like all your edging tools snippers and half moon tool! The elderly man wanted to see what you were up to young man!
Looks good! For helping this couple!
Ahh at last a real gardener who can tell the difference between weeds and plants and not just cut down everything.
Thanks ☺️ thanks very kind of you 👍
It's super appreciated.
Thanks for watching.
Martin
Well said.
Yes, I can’t get one that weeds properly. One guy I had recently decided to dig up all my daffodil bulbs. Also a lot of them just pull the weeds off at the base and don’t dig them out.
Oh dear 😅 I hope he replanted them!?
'Weeds' are the best flowers n pollinators - dandelion, red campion, ragwort, cow parsley. Leave your armpits hairy n stunning red cinnebar moths and colourful caterpillars will move in in no time
First timer here. What a nice job you did. Your attention to detail was just great. I said to myself, Good for this man her knows the material and what to save. It looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for watching. Also, for the lovely comment.im really glad you enjoyed it. Hope you get a chance to check out future ones, too.
It'd certainly be appreciated.
Martin.
I looove watching hand weeding. ❤️ Great job. 👍
DITTO!!!!! 💛🖤💛
Fortunately for me, I love weeding 😅 it's so relaxing.
Like a visual asmr? I find this whole video very relaxing to be honest, which is probably a good reminder for me to get out in the garden and do some actual gardening but I do find it relaxing 👍🏽
There’s something so wonderful seeing your videos - you know plants and what they need along with what the homeowner needs too. Some mulch in the flower beds would help new flowers stand out and keep the weeds at bay. Love the idea of a trio of flowers in the front of the shed 😊.
I love the idea of mulch 😊👍 and plants.
There have been some other fantastic suggestions, I'm going to start crowd sourcing my ideas more often 😂😊
What an amazing transformation. It was so satisfying to see the weeds removed carefully & the borders tendered to. I have a lot of moss in my lawn this year & wondered how to tackle it. Thank you 👍
Hi 👋 thanks for the comment 😊
As for your moss problem:
Always think of moss in the lawn as a symptom of a problem. Instead of the problem itself. It's quite easy to get rid of in most lawns. If I know a little bit about the lawn. I'm an organic gardener, though, so I don't use magic lotions and potions on mine 😂
Tell me what you can about your lawn, is it sunny, shady, clay or sandy soil. Have you had moss before or is it a new issue? More info the better, and I'll see what advice I can give to help out 👍
Oh thank you. It's South facing but shaded by a large cherry blossom tree in my neighbours garden. The soil is clay too. The lawn is very spongey in this area & when wet, there's a number of toadstools forming. I don't wish to use chemicals & I would greatly appreciate your expert advice. Thank you 👍
Oh dear, I almost missed your reply.
So basically, as I said before, think of lawn issues as symptoms as opposed to the actual problem.
With moss, it's usually one or more of a few things.
Drainage & shade, although some other things in combination can also cause it to. Like soil compaction and nutrients defficient soil.
So hit it with a few things, and it should help out.
1.Try to remove any over hanging branches that cause too much shade.
2.Remove the moss with a rake, no need to be too over zealous 😁 and over seed if you can.
3. Top dressing with horticulture sand is a great way to improve Drainage, just sweep it over the grass. And let the worms do the rest. (A must, for heavy clay soil)
4.feed the lawn, use anything, it doesn't have to be lawn food. I use liquid seaweed or tomato food. Because they are very cheap (some gardens would blow their top about this) but food is food to a plant 😂
And if it's really compact soil, jist use a garden fork to looked it up a little to get some air to the grass roots.
To top it all off, grass is actually a very thuggy and tough plant. Hardly anything can out compete it. But it does like to be happy. Tick all of its boxes, and it should be fine 😁
Improving Drainage in soil takes a while, it's not an overnight solution. But it's easy to sweep over sand a few times a year. This'll probably do more to solve the issue than anything else.
I'm an organic gardener, so I never use the chemicals solutions that are often touted as the cure by companies.
Longest comment ever! 😂
Martin.
Thank you so much Martin for taking the time to leave me some advice. I really do appreciate it 😊👍🙏
It looks like really good soil!
Yes people underestimate how much work a garden requires.
You are a kind man....great job!
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏 that's mighty kind of you. It's much appreciated 😊
Once again wonderful work with so much attention to nature's children. Perfect outcome!
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏 a truly lovely comment.
It's always much appreciated.
Wow how I wish there was someone in uk like you doing the same thing….good on ya!
I'm in the U.K 😂 I work in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
This garden is now officially beautiful. The owners will enjoy it every day. Would be nice to have a few more plants or flowers. You are a wonderful gardener. Job well done.
Oh, thank you 😊 🙏
I think you're right on the planting front. It could definitely do with some. Bare earth = weeds 😅
Thanks again
Martin
What a lovely video, no background music (until the end!) just watching you work your magic and listening to the wind blow. I haven’t cut my grass at all this year. It’s waist high at least. Wish me luck for the weekend🥴
Oh dear 😅 best of luck 👍
The wild life will be grateful for the later than normal cut. Don't worry, more people should do the same thing 😊
Keep an eye out for frogs 😅
That’s a nice job there. Especially the attention to the small plants. Nice.
Thank you 😊👍I wish I could take credit, but I am normally in total autopilot 😅
Greetings Martin, from the PNW! What a sweet, simple garden, and I think a perfect size for the elderly couple there. I hate when there comes a time that they can't do what they enjoy in their yards. Thank God for you! I think what I liked most about the video is your stopping to have a chat with Dennis. My heart simply explodes for lovely older folks (I've been this way for my whole entire life, it seems, having a heart for them.) For you to have a chat and a friendly ear was probably just as meaningful as the actual work you did recovering their little oasis!
I think we're all in agreement that the bare earth will continue to breed weeds, and to go ahead and add sod the 2 sides around the lawn (by the walk and then the patio.) If the small fence line space could be used for some color, it might be easier for the grandson to handle in general. I am happy to see that you'll give the lad some helpful tips to not feel overwhelmed.
(Was I the only one who wanted a look-see inside the little gray shed?)
Watching you is so therapeutic, Martin, as you work your way around the garden, constantly in touch with everything that surrounds you. Your appreciation for nature sure touches my heart, and your perspectives are so refreshing. So few have even a smidgen of enjoyment of a simpler time. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us here. Sending blessings from over here to over there. 💛🖤💛
I'm the same, I really enjoy working with elderly people, not for any charitable or magnanimous reasons. But for the amazing stories and experiences they have. It's like reading an awesome novel. Many of the older people I've met have wonderful and horrific stories comparable to any blockbuster film.
Plus, I find them extremely easy to get along with, plus the added bonus of just helping out another human being 😅
P.s no, I also wanted to look in the shed 😂 I just forgot. Although I did just want to check, they'd got a mower for the grandson to use.
P.p.s thanks for watching, very much appreciated. I like to kind comment 😊 I probably don't deserve it, but I like it all the same 😁
@@martinthegardenguy Oh I disagree! I think you deserve every bit of praise you receive. And I agree their lives are better than most movies... their loves and losses, their victories and tragedies, their epic history retold in first person. So many toss them aside, thinking they have nothing to say or offer as they age. How sad a perception.
Helping others is sewn into the very fabric of your soul, I think. What a joy it's been, coming along with you as you experience so many wonderful gardens, some forgotten or neglected, yet are as charming as the owners (of every age) you meet. I admit, I wish your episodes were longer, narrated with your calming voice, because I enjoy them so much!
I hope one day you will show us the ponds and water features you encounter, too... fingers crossed you anyway.💛🖤💛
I think that the biggest problem with gardens, especially small ones, is underestimating: 1. How quickly they can get out of control. 2. How long it takes to restore them. 3. How much effort it takes to maintain them. Nice transformation!
You're totally right on all counts 😅👍
People forget how quickly things grow when the soil is warm, the sun is shining, and the rain is frequent.
I much admit, I sometimes forget until the end of spring. Then it's all guns, a blazing 😂
Like my one,.now its taking ages to sort out and will need co stant maintenance to.not repeat makeover every year
@@martinthegardenguyRight now I could do with a bit of rain. I'm wilting with the plants😅😅😅😅
I'm glad the gentleman was okay, for a second I thought he went down along with the tripod 😅 Excellent job as always, I'm sure they are very pleased with the results and they can't wait to refill the bird feeder.
Oh dear, that would have been horrific. Fortunately, it was just my camera that took the beating 😅 he was a total gentleman, and he kept coming out to check I was OK 😁
It's hilarious what you said about the bird feeders, I'd meant to take some with me as I buy it in bulk for my garden. I was going to fill them up, but I totally forgot to take the birdseed with me 😫
Thinking the same thing. Hopefully the grandson or great grandson can clean and refill them.
I don't want to overloaded the boy with work 😂 I'll zip down and disinfect and refill them.
I know it's been done then 😅
I love that you actually weed a garden not just whipper snip. Very Very good job ❤🎉
Nice job Martin! The elderly owners must have been really relieved to see their garden under control again. I am a retired gardener and worked mainly for elderly and disabled people. I know the stress that an overgrown garden causes them. I do hope the family attend to it regularly for them. 👍
Thanks 😁 😊
Great work on helping other people out, well done 👍 good gardeners will always be in demand. Even when we retire! 😂
I hope I'll be doing it until they put me in a box 😂
Very nice! Hopefully the relatives that will be doing the yard work know to pull the weeds from the roots, trim the grass and ornamental plants, remove the waste/debris and clean the paths just as you've done.
Martin I am fast becoming hooked watching your videos! I loved watching you re-do this garden for the elderly couple. It was so neat and tidy and all ready for their grandson to do his thing! You are a true master gardener, the only one I’ve found on TH-cam to watch. Your manual edger is amazing! 👍Your close up/slow motion hand weed pulling in this video was fun to watch!
I gasped when the elderly man grabbed the tripod; I was afraid he fell. Was happy you told us all was OK! You were so kind and gentle with him, showed the kind person you are. 😊
See you next video! Watching and enjoying from Texas 🇺🇸
Oh, yeah. The same as me, I thought he was going to fall over 😫 fortunately, he was actually more steady than he appeared, and he wouldn't let me help him either 😂 but if you can't be stubborn at 95, what can you be 😁
Thank you so much for the lovely comment. You are too kind. I'm honestly not that good, really. I just love gardening, and although I do this for a living (as well as doing free work) I'd still only class myself as an "experienced amateur" 😅 and I'm probably a little old fashioned too, preferring traditional manual tools to power tools.
But I shall still accept the lovely comment 😁😊
Thanks again
Martin.
It's sometimes harder to keep a small space neat than a larger one. I'm so glad you could help them sort out their garden & enjoy it rather than having it as a constant worry. As always, you did a thorough, careful job of clearing it up with a great result!
Thanks, Teresa 😊 your always so kind 😊
I'm going to make a few little changes to this garden, as I think it'll be a nightmare to keep the weeds down. I'd like it to be mainly a lawn mow garden. With plant maintenance only a few time a year.
But I'm still working on the plan 😅
The garden looks so inviting! Lovely job!
Thank you very much.
Truly, it's very much appreciated 😊
What a Lovely job you have done for the old man Bless him Bet he was so pleased .
Oh, yeah. He was chuffed to bits. He told me it'd not looked like that for a while 😅
He was a lovely gentleman.
I jist hope the grandson can keep it up to scratch now. I'll be checking up on him 😂
Such attention to detail !!
Oh, thanks 😊 although in truth, I'm in total autopilot most of the time, so I'm not actually paying much attention 😅 😁
Keeping the edges neat and weeding flower plots
Gute Arbeit, schön dass es Menschen wie dich gibt. Gruß aus Deutschland
Hello Germany 🇩🇪 😊 thank you for the lovely comment.
Good job Martin. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching. Catch you next time 😊😊
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏 see you on the next one. Thank you for watching
Lovely job Martin love the edges 👍🤩
Thanks 😁 I didn't do them too straight, as in all likelihood they'll be getting some turf on to make it easier to look after the garden.
Or at least those tiny little borders will 👍
Thanks again
Martin
Love watching these videos there's always a good result at the end great job
It is incredible that the couple are in their 90s ❤❤❤ Bless them. Given their ages, less is best in this situation. They have a nice bit of lawn to maintain. Maybe some mulch to give a little pop around the edges
I agree, and I love that saying 😁 less is best.
I think a few little alterations and it'll be relatively low maintenance. Like getting rid of the tiny borders, maybe just turf over and keeping the one big one, and mulching the rest.
I'll probably be back to do just that, I hate unfinished work 😂
What a grafter, nothing wrong with this guys knees, deserves every penny he earns great video, all the best to you
Thank you 😊👍
Love your work. Love seeing English gardens beautifying. But I’m afraid I should be in my garden doing something. Soon, soon. You are a true inspiration. 👍🇦🇺🦘
Indeed you should!! Go out and get some gardening done 😁 you can always watch me later when it's raining 😂
I'm glad to be a little inspiration to you 😊
All the best
Martin
Здравствуйте! Очень нравится Ваша работа! Вы большой молодец! Здоровья и здоровья! С уважением, 😊!
Wow, thank you 😊 🙏
All the best to you as well.
Martin
Great job Martin👍
Oh, that's very much appreciated 😊 🙏
Thank you.
Great job, well done on all counts 😊
Not just a lawn guy... but a REAL gardener!
Oh, bless you. I class that as extremely high praise. So thank you very much 😊
Neat job Martin! I would think one of the worst problems in this or any other garden, mine included, is the size of the taproots on the thistles etc. But now what a neat little garden so the grandson has hopefully an easy job keeping it tidy.
Oh, yeah. They can be a problem. Fortunately, I pulled the ones up in this garden. So I'm hopeful they don't come back 😅 which they shouldn't, it the lawn is mowed regular.🤞
The main issue I was talking about, was the large areas of bare soil. Which will be a total weed magnet without a few alterations to the garden.
I'm the same as you, hoping the grandson can keep on top of it 😅
What a great video! Your work is great! You asked what the next gardener might have a problem with in the garden? I should imagine it is how to get the riding mower through such a small gate! LOL! Thanks for sharing! George from Florida, USA
Haha, cheers, George 🍻 😊 I bet some gardeners would get a ride on through the gate...literally, and the fence as well 😂 personally I still mow really big lawns with the little mower. It's a lovely walk, and it keeps me fit 😅 I'd be a right chunky monkey otherwise, because I really like my food as well.
Hope you're doing well, George
All the best
Martin
Well done. You have the same trowel as me. I also have the large shovel and fork from same company. Love the serrated edge to cut through stubborn roots. 👏🐸
Nice work Martin!
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏 ever so kind.
You have done an amazing job !!!! The garden looks amazing💯😎❤️👍👏👏👏👏
Wonderful
Good luck keeping the weeds down. It looked like the dandelion plants we have trouble with in Texas. Good job!
Oh yeah, I think dandelion are an international nuisance 😂 although I'm becoming quite fond of them in my old age 😅
Thanks
Martin.
Very nicely done.
Beautiful job Martin. Your a good man.👏👏👍🏻
I just got some black edging made from recycled plastic. You just put it along the edge and pin it in. You can have it sticking up a few centimetres to keep mulch in. It looks really good. I'd plant a few small, neat plants such as Golfball pittosporums and put a good thick layer of mulch down to suppress weeds. Or pots of plants placed on top of the mulch, which can be changed seasonally. The lovely old man seems quite frail and unsteady on his feet. I'd put in a nice bench seat or chairs for them so they could sit out there in warm weather and enjoy their garden.
Oh, yes. I've used that stuff myself from time to time. It has worked a treat for the most part. I've found the good quality ones to be far better and tough enough to step on and mow over, for instance.
I think in this garden, though, the plan is to turf over the tiny little borders. Gravel and weed suppressant over the fence border. And get some ground cover plants for the larger border.
I love the idea of a little bench 👍😊 that'd be perfect for them. Maybe placed near the back door.
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Well done! 👏👏👏
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Looks lovely, great job.
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Looks fantastic. Hope your client is feeling better.
Oh, cheers, he's fine, thanks. Or at least, as fine as he's gonna be at 95 years old. He's a total gentleman, but I think he's a bit annoyed at not being able to garden anymore. It's understandable.
Thanks for the comment 😊
Martin.
@martinthegardenguy I know how he feels. I'm only 65 and I'm in a nursing facility no longer to physically be able to work in the garden.
Well, in that case, I'm glad you get to join me on my jaunts in the garden, then 👍
Best wishes
Martin.
@martinthegardenguy Even in my prime, I'll leave the slopes to you. LOL
Haha 😅 good man 👍
Thats an honest piece of work 👏 Subscribed
Thank you 👍😊 very much appreciated.
Love it! God bless.
Thank you 👍 😊 and God bless you too. 🙏
Really nice cleanup! I’m sure they appreciated your work.
Thanks ☺️ much appreciated 👍
Great job!
Beautiful job I love how you made the border lines
Oh, thanks 👍 it was quite easy. The hardest part, was finding the old lawn edge 😂 it was rather hidden.
As someone else has noticed the problem is the little narrow borders that will just fill up with weeds.. I suggest the grass should be taken right up to the path, shed, wall and paved area. The border between the path and fence to be planted with low-growing ground cover and small shrubs.
Gold star for you 😁 I totally agree, tiny litte borders aren't mush use for anything other than weeds. So I did as you guessed, and suggested turfing over them. Lawn is far lower maintenance than borders 😅 and also totally agree with the use of ground cover to lower the maintenance regime. 👍
Thank you
Wow! Great job.
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Nicely done. All ready for them to add some colorful flowers.
Looks like the Newark area, good job there.
Turned out nice!
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Nice job 💚
Thank you, much appreciated. 😊
Wonderful ❤that was hard work I do hope someone will maintain it for them 😊
As far as I know, the grandson was doing a good job keeping it in order😊👍its been a month or two since I checked though 😂
Hi Martin! I have found the biggest issue with kids, or grandkids, helping is that they don't know what is a weed, and what is a desired plant. This is a special problem in my yard because I have very mixed beds. So at 66 and severely arthritic, I still do most of my own weeding, but get my 16 year old son (obviously adopted) to do the hauling for me. I am slowly teaching him what are weeds, and what are desired plants, although we sometimes weed a plant we like when it pops up in the wrong place!
Oh, that's a fantastic idea. Training your son to do some of the weeding 👍😁😅
I do love weeding, but the positions you have to get in aren't the most comfortable, Are they 😂 my legs fall asleep sometimes 😅 I use the Hoe quite a bit, but nothing beats getting down there and pulling them up.
I hope he learns quickly to save your poor bones from any undue stresses. 🤞
@@martinthegardenguy yes, I avoid the hoe, because I make too many mistakes with it. But I do have an antique hoe that has only half a handle, that I do use when down on my knees. It has a small, triangular head that is very thin and is great for slicing through hardened soil. My youngest son is a great helper. He is eager to help, unlike my daughter, and listens to instructions and asks questions. My joints start to hurt, necessitating a position change, before my legs fall asleep, but I do remember those days. Did you know there is research that shows that gardening the way we do it, actually improves mood, due to soil organisms? But if you are standing up, spraying herbicides everywhere, you don't get the benefit. Have to get down and get your hands dirty!
Haha, I know exactly what you mean with using the Hoe. I'm occasionally over zealous and catch something I shouldn't. But sometimes I do the same when I'm hand weeding, I somehow managed to grab a delphinium the other day and rip it out 😥
I do know the style of hoe your talking about. They are a fantastic design for targeted weeding, they seem quite sharp too.
I'll take a look at that research, I've read so much about the health benefits of gardening. But I'll be interested in the biological aspects as well. Fascinating.
Best to pave the whole garden.... I did this after 3 decades of lawn mowing every year ....now have a beautiful red and grey paved garden with flower pots...😊 you did an amazing job!!! 😊
People with paved, artificial, graveled etc etc gardens should just go and live in a tower block or on a boat. Pointless having a garden, may as well go and sit in the middle of the street.
Each unto their own I say, I love things that grow, and only need a little hard area for seating. But that's just me ☺️
Outstanding
Well done Martin.. a real good job..
Wonderful job
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
This is a beautiful little garden and you have made it a nice little place that the couple can now sit in and enjoy. Seeing you pulling those weeds out of the lawn reminds me of doing the same thing a few weeks ago. Similar sized lawn to this garden and we had huge Dandelion weeds 'about eleven of them' to pull out of the grass. The roots were near a foot long on some of them. I put some grass seed down and it is looking a lot better now. You are a kind and caring man Martin, keep up your excellent work. God bless this couple and yourself.
I should'nt watch these
"makeovers".
I usually prefere the " before " . 🌿
Haha, me too sometimes. I like wild gardens myself, but more people prefer something a little more conventional. I think the best of both worlds is possible.
@@martinthegardenguy Great respect for people like your and if there were more people like you in our society things would be so much kinder and better.
That's a super kind thing to say ☺️🙏
Lovely job! Keeping those beds at the perimeter free of weeds will take a bit of work. Some mulch might help.❤ New subscriber watching from Syracuse, New York.
You're totally right 😊👍 either mulch or some smart planting with ground cover. Although I think the smallest borders should probably just be grassed over 😅 their not big enough to do much with.
P.s. Thanks for subscribing, I hope you enjoyed the video. And a super big greeting to New York from Nottingham 😊
You can't beat herbaceous borders ❤❤❤
Good job👍
Great job all round sir.
You really went the extra mile. Well done !!!!
Oh, thank you 😊 🙏
For goodness sake that wouldn't even take me days and i can barely walk the length of myself 😂
Their little postage stamp garden wasn't that bad, bless them but an elderly couple would definitely struggle.
Thats amazing
Very nice job done, Martin! The little garden is missing a stone foot path, so the couple do not step into the dirt. They could fall if they try to step over the dirt bed.
Great suggestions 🤔 😊 👍 I think your definitely right about the trip hazards.
Proper job that.
The borders, as the weeds are already established. Lovely job. Just because the gardens small, it doesn't make the job any easier.
You're right. The borders will be quite high maintenance, without something else doing to them.
I've never seen that many weeds, without any actual plants anywhere to be found 😅
Awesomeness ❤❤❤
Not as awesome as your lovely comment 😁😊
Thank you.
The biggest maintenance issue is going to be weeding the beds. Unless landscape fabric and mulch are put down, those huge weeds will return. If the grandson just runs the mower and string trimmer around, the beds won't be attended to properly and you're back to square one. Great job!
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
P.s you're totally right on all counts, I'm sure it will be a few of those things that eventually get done 👍
What a great job , i think the biggest job will be keeping on top of the weeds in the beds .
The family should be able to manage to keep it tidy .
You hit the nail on the head! 😅 way too many empty soil borders. You're right, it's a virtual written invite for weeds 😁
If you buy a small pressure washer you can take care of the elderly clients so that they don’t slip on those beautiful stoned floors and sidewalk.
It should be the green bin. The brown is for recycling 😂😂😂
Query: which is best, with the grass collector on the mower or without? 🤔
Haha, quite a complex question, really. I do both. For meadow and rough lawns I generally always mow without, as it's far quicker. And done often enough, you can hardly see the grass clippings afterwards.
But for a bowling green, I'd collect 👍
Great before and after pics
Oh, thank you. It's very kind of you to say so 😊
At last a good gardner. He knows what he is doing. 😊
😊😁 well, I'm not sure about that, but I'm glad you think so 😅
Thank you.
Martin.
I think keeping the weeds out of those borders. I’d suggest the grandson put membrane down cut through to put his shrubs in & cover with pebbles. It retains the moisture & keeps weeds out. Hubby & I are a wee bit older now & we’ve done this & our garden is now looking so neat & easy to maintain l. Thanks enjoyed your video xx
Thank you 👍 😊
You're totally right, I'm hoping they extend the lawn to cover the tiny little strip borders. And then gravel and membrane down the side of the fence.
And then just keep the larger border with the wall and pop in some ground cover plants.
Or at least, that's what I suggested 😅🤞
Thanks again for the lovely comment.
Martin.
the most difficult part to maintain is certainly going to be the edge around the grass area.
You hit the nail on the head 😁 hopefully a few alterations will be getting made to make it easier for them 😊👍
Thanks
Martin.
Good job..😊😊
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Lovely
Thank you 👍 😊 🙏
Excellent job
Well done
Well done nice neat job. The trouble with getting old is that the mind is writing cheques the body cannot cash. It comes to us all sooner or later😂❤Ruth
Really looks nice now. The couple will have a nice view sitting out side now. Hope the gentleman has a walker. It's much better if needing to hold on to and balance yourself than a cane.
Oh, thank 😊
Yeah, he's got one 👍 he was quite fast on it when he was showing me around 😅 far better than the walking cane (or my phone tripod) 😁
Love it
amazing
