Dry camping sucks. If I have to dry camp it's because something has gone wrong, like being delayed by weather or by an injury. On the plus side, bad weather usually brings precipitation, so the water can be collected, filtered or boiled.
Great advice as usual! I hate bugs and mosquitoes 🦟 hence my love of winter hiking and backpacking. And your comments on widowmakers is spot on. I am amazed at how many campers don't even consider this! I was surprised you didn't mention a good bag of chips as essential to a good campsite!! 😂😂😂
oooh I'm always SO shocked that in the vast expanse of the wilderness people choose to camp near others. I've had a group camp 15ft away from me out in Escalante, Utah. That same night another group came in and camped INBETWEEN me and my group.
I'm jealous of the bottle of Weller behind you!
Wind good when buggy
Even Dolly Sods has dry spells. The only time I backpacked there most of the streams were dry. So even there, planning for water is important.
Oh we have plenty of water out west this year. Aloha is still under ice and snow!

Hey you guys haven't put a trip video out since lake Tahoe 8 months ago. Do you have anything in the queue?

I do love hiking, but I totally enjoy the camping experience more than anything when backpacking. Appreciate your insight here! 🤙🏼
How about a Father’s Day Trip video?????
My #1 tip is don’t backpack in Illinois
