Hello to all the highly artistic and well regarded new viewers. This is not a movie review channel, this is a banjo channel. I don't like this film, it's dookie. I made a fun video to express my opinion. You will be OK I promise.
DUDE, I’m impressed. A cool, clever amalgam, and so well executed! You turned the synopsis of a bad remake into something damn near indistinguishable from an Appalachian folk ballad. As a lover of the original Nosferatu, there’s no way I’m watching this turd sandwich. Don’t listen to the naysayers man, I wanna see more of this!!!!
Lord I was scared when I first started reading your comment. 😆Thanks Cameron, I appreciate your willingness to have fun! If a movie is so bad I can't help myself I just might do it again...... next time I'll have to wear a suit and tie and put a 3hr presentation together as I did not realize I would face some expert level movie critics.
@@tylerjgiffordMan, speaking as someone who’s going into film as a field, cinephiles and film critics can be some of the biggest snobs and buttholes out there (not all, exactly, but MANY). I love a tonne of films that critics hate and hate a tonne that they love, and despite all the hissy fits I’ve had thrown at me, they ain’t changing my opinions anytime soon. Should you decide to make more of these I am very much looking forward to more of your takes brother
I think you're spot on, and it's a strange phenomenon. If someone doesn't like something I do, it doesn't devalue it to me. I'm glad people are able to enjoy what they do. I don't understand the adhomeneims from people who liked this film when I didn't. The cinephiles and film critics can be oddly aggressive when someone disagrees with the overall reception of a film. Hopefully you can make a difference in the field!
I loved the film. Personally my favorite Eggers film so far, but they've all been great. This is high gothic horror, so it's expected that people are either going to love it or hate it. Real gothic horror fans will love it.
If you hate this video format, don't worry! The channel will not morph into a movie review channel, I promise. I just had to do this. What's the worst movie you've ever seen?
😂 😂😂 I wouldn’t even watch that kind of movie unless I had a gun at my head. Anyway I don’t get any of it Tyler but this is very creative brother. I’m wondering if count Warlock wondered why everbody he met seemed to be a rank stranger
I disagree completely with your opinion on the movie but this was a seriously fun format and you had me laughing out loud during the end of your recap. I would have thought a mustached man such as yourself would have been more appreciative of mustaches getting some horror representation but I stand corrected. The mustache is rooted in real history (Transylvanian lords would definitely have mustaches at that time period), as well as the original Dracula book rather than the 1922 Nosferatu movie which itself was just an unlicensed adaptation of the novel. I think that this movie was very thematically rich though perhaps marketing it as a horror movie is doing potential viewers a disservice because you're right: it's not scary. To me, it feels more in the realm of one of Grimm's fairytales rather than our modern conception of horror movies.
What a refreshing comment! I can appreciate that you enjoyed the movie and can also have some fun. Maybe I am just jealous Orlok can grow a better stache
WTH….!? 😂😂😂😂 This was some funny crap buddy… like a bluegrass version of Joe Bob Briggs! I disagree…. We must have more horror movie reviews in this format! 👍🤣
Yes! Finally an accurate review of this overrated dud. As a technical achievement, it's absolutely wonderful, but it lacks any suspense or actual horror
Probably one of the worst movie reviews I've ever seen. Rambled out a couple half thought out reasons that were fueled by ignorance of the genre he was pulling from. It's my opinion that the actors were wonderful, the score knew exactly when to step in and build the scene, the cinematography was gorgeous, and the themes of the story of Nosferatu were not only held intact, but elevated. Agree to disagree, but you may like Eggers other movies more as this was more of a passion project of his.
Fair points, I do like other Eggers movies but this one was dog water imo. I wouldn't take the review seriously partner, I'm not a critic nor a director. Just had high expectations based on raving reviews and was let down. That's the good thing about movies, there's something for everyone.
You may like other Mr. Gifford banjo videos, but this was more of a passion project. You rambled out a couple of half-thought-out reasons fueled by ignorance of the genre he's pulling from. Probably one of the worst comments I've seen. This video is elevated.
You mentioned everything except the most important part of a movie which is the plot, is that because you agree that it sucks? Sigma ex vampire mogs the new loser husband and steals his girl and she secretly loves it, felt like a weird romance movie plot with a horror movie coat paint. Was almost like they remembered it was a horror movie at the last second of production and were like, “oh shit, just put random jump scares in and call it a day no one will know”.
@@dankmeme420 The most important part of a movie is subjective, and I won't discuss spoilers of a movie that recently released. You lack understanding of the historical significance of stories like this in the time period, and it makes sense why it would bounce off you in particular. I will agree tho that the jumpscares are the worst part, and were most likely a studio requirement for trailer footage. Have a great one cuz I dont care enough to stick in these comment sections. Doesn't seem like a place of healthy discussion.
@@fugue7938 most important part of the movie is subjective 😂😂 so i can jingle some keys in front of you and you’d love it as long as the acting and setting were good
In all fairness I do like his other work that I've seen, and maybe the high standards he set for the Witch and the Northman set me up for a disappointing experience. Thanks for commenting
@tylerjgifford It was a perfect gothic horror story with beautiful cinematography, acting, score, smart framing. He was an imposing, demonic presence. Even the scenes without him were scary. Idk what you were expecting, but this wasn't another cheap jumpscare annabelle movie 🤷🏻♂️
Agree to disagree. I love horror films of all kinds and this was not scary even remotely, aside from the cheap jump Anabelle like scares you mentioned, which are definitely present in this film.
@@CadaverJunky8I’m confused if we watched the same movie or not. Every “scary part” was just a jump scare of naked nosferatu. I wouldn’t even say he was scary on the screen with his goofy accent and mustache. Did he even do anything that was actually scary except gyrate naked on everybody?
@ The stylization and sets made it a great period piece. Great cinematography. The story is well known at this point and faithful to the novel, which could make it seem slightly corny because it’s so familiar and not exactly “scary” or new. But my favorite part was probably when Orlock was going to town on Ellen so hard that he didn’t realize the sun was rising. Classic horny bro simp move lol.

Easily the most creative way I've seen anyone review a movie on this platform! Splendid work Tyler
This is so hilarious and bizzare holy shit
"Deliverance" Not a bad movie, but some of the things in it.
But banjo in Nosferatu really?!
Q: How can you tell the stage is level?
A: Slobber comes out of both sides of the banjo player's mouth.
Bald
