    this is why ill stick to direct drives.

    One thing I've noticed with these is it could be advantageous to match your cadence to the assist level. I've noticed that on level 1, this motor tries to do about 70 rpm at the crank. On level 5 it's about 140 rpm at the crank. The motor will slow under load but if you are pedaling at 60 rpm in assist level 5, this is substantial labouring of the motor and it might be worth it to downshift a few gears and really get those pedals spinning. The motor will run more efficiently. I'm not sure what percentage of the no load speed it's best to spin above.

    So a melted nylon gear.means no drive right??

    Sweet. I wonder if aluminum gears are possible. It looks like you could really drop the motor weight substantially with aluminum gears. Some hard aluminum like 7075 might be up to the task. They should also make a chromoloy gear upgrade. Looks like they are using a cheap type of steel. In the 1000 W did they upgrade the gear material? I wonder if an aluminum motor case would also be possible. Dropping motor weight would be one of the easiest ways to make the kit much better. I use my bafang for mountain biking and really ride hard on it. I ride it up and down mountain and through deep snow. Going up a hill the weight reduction help alot, but also the lighter motor will bounce around less. Sometimes motor spins in my bottom bracket because it's so heavy and has so much inertia. One suggestion I have for you is to buy mini-crankarms. My crankarms are only 90mm. This makes pedaling super easy, because you can keep up with motor much easier. It also dramatically reduces torque on the bottom bracket, which allows me to do drops/really smash my bike hard, as well as knocking a lb of weight off each crank.

      +Clifford Zvengrowski - Yeeeeahhh.. this is one of the best comments I received in my channel... I love discussing about these things and also many other people can read these comments and learn a lot too =]
      Right.. the torque is huge in the small pinion gear, specially when using large chainrings like 46T, 48T... a very large 52T will definitely stress too much. The smallest chainring the faster the internal gears will spin so the less stress on the gears = your motor will last longer. The faster you spin the motor the better acceleration you get, it won't overheat and get more range from the batteries as it will become more efficient too. Your cells life will increase too... so many benefits I can list here... so why Bafang and DIY builders don't do it? Cadence... that could easily be fixed with a smaller crank arm like you mentioned there =]
      The BBSHD is here, really powerful and MUCH FASTER cadence... all those things I mentioned above are actually true. Cadence? I always tell people "people don't drive their cars at its maximum 7500 RPM they change gears before it happens but is good to have that EXTRA power if you're going uphill or overtaking someone".
      7075 Aluminium gear: would only be possible if you spin it really fast, the massive flywheel would be the first thing I would change to reduce the weight, much more than the pinion gear, the BBSxx fittings like the large triangle metal plate could be 7075 alloy too. Controller is very small and it needs some alloy casing for heat sink.. the nylon gear is very light... the whole frame is cast alloy already (very light).
      What I think it is really heavy there but can't be alloy? The huge BB axle
      Large metal bearings are very heavy and could be replaced by ceramic.
      all those changes will make this mid-drive double or triple the price and no many people would have access to this technology... =[
      If you really want something really powerful, really lightweight and no internal gears + better frame fittings.. you should talk to Matt and get your custom mid-drive here: davincidrives.com/ yes, it is a premium price you pay but you get the best of the best (tell Matt that Bruno TH-cam recommended)
      Where did you get your mini cranks from? I may get one myself =]

      +ElectricBike I don't think they should sell the whole motor with max upgrades, but maybe make it so you can buy individual pieces as upgrades. (like the bling ring) I have a rule... 25$ for 100 grams is good cost to weight saving. Anything more isn't worth it. You can buy your cranks here for about 80USD. Also one thing to note, the right crankarm on the bafang sticks out further from the frame than the left. You should measure this and tell Mark to make the left crank offset, and the right one straight down to balance this out. 90mm is the perfect crank length. You will see it gives you perfect speed, so you can always pedal faster than the motor, but also have good POOWWWWWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Tell him you want exact same request as Clifford, but with left crank offset more, and measure how far you want it offset.

      ElectricBike
      I am also confused by your statement. So you are saying that if I had a 10t on the front and 10t on the back this would be lower stress on the motor than 50t in the front and 50t in the back even though they are both 1:1 ratios?

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Clifford Zvengrowski - Yeeeahh... the $25 per 100grams is a good rule... I may start using it myself haha... thanks for sending Mark's email, I have been thinking about short crank arms for a while now...

      +ElectricBike (Bruno) - ah... what I said about the large chainring is not related with the cassette (rear gears)... the larger chainring (front) you have, the more torque the motor will have to generate to turn the gears and this will increase the heat in all electronics and stress too much all gears. Is almost like starting a car in 3rd gear but electric motor you have a huge torque from even at very low RPM, if you don't spin... something is going to break (internal gears or frying the controller in this case).

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pistolea Florin Hi, I actually did about 2300kms... I believe the damage was caused because I used a much larger 52T chainring, this would directly increase the amount of torque in the smallest internal gear, specially when starting up hill throttle only (motor only without pedal assist)

    Used a late 90s 28inch wheel 7 speed cassette Bruno and 44t front. Top speed 15mph. There's so much more talk I just can't keep up with the peddling man. Been reading others have had this problem. I'm concerned a larger 52t will be just touching the frame. Do I need a new bike? Bike shop said it can't be upgraded but having a 10 11 gr cassette won't do much. Is there a spacer to give the 48t 3mm to clear?

    Whats the difference between bbs02 and anbbshd nylon gear? I have bbs02 with almost 10k km in one year, no nylon gear failure. I would like to push 10-15 more amps (if possible) with external controller. What do you think about nylon gear durability cause I shift to stay in peak power range (60-80% rpm) and i want to be able to push full power all the time. How much amps would you reccomend with 52v. I know i maybe ask a lot but you are the one of few who i believe about this topic. Save my life maan XD

    i just installed my motor yesterday. worked for a five minute ride and was no good after. trying to sort it out with the guy who sold it to me so lets see. which website did you order your parts from. BTW I'm from Queensland

      Yeeeahhh... QLD huhuuuuuulll... sorry for the delay getting back to you, have you got your bike going? What was the problem?? Worked well for 5 minutes then stopped???? I am in Sydney working for www.emax-ebikes.com.au the largest Bafang seller in AUS and NZ selling motors to all other ebike businesses. We are on holidays but drop me a message here if you need help with something... thaaaaanks for watching my videos, lot more interesting info coming out soon =]

      +ElectricBike (Bruno) All sorted out. Sorry I should have said something quicker. The seller was great as he said it might be the controller that might be the problem and I received a new controller the next day without any questions asked. His name is Daniel Pereira and he sells on ebay as electricbikesandstuff. I also installed a aquarium thermometer in the controller and yes I have also learned how to ride the bike properly and keeping it in a low gear always when starting. The thermometer is a great indicator as well. I will also open up the fried controller and put 3077 mosfets in there soon. BTW i know nothing about electronics or motors but Im satisfied by my purchase of a bafang so that I can modify it myself if i have too.

      +ElectricBike (Bruno) Hey Bruno do you think I could get a discount on the programming cable from emax if I used your name/reference. $32 sounds very expensive for a cable put together. Don't you agree? :)

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Alvares - Yeeeahh.. my friend Daniel Pereira is taking a good care of his customers... didn't ask questions and didn't want the old controller back.. =] the fryed controller you can following some steps here from Karl (another "Bafang friend") electric-fatbike.com/bbs02-controller-mods/ and get it this thing fixed with the upgraded mosfets.
      The programming cable is actually a reasonable price because the sellers have to make the cable themselves so there is a labour cost involved there. Another thing you should consider, there are some cheap USB programming cables out there but they will stop working after a while and won't communicate with the controller anymore. Almost all cables are very short which is really annoying as you have to place your computer so close, sometimes holding the computer with one hand and the other doing the commands. The emax-ebikes USB is the only one I know that is loooooong and will make your life much easier + we never had any problems with the cables. If you order there I will be man on the working bench doing a good job soldering making that thing reliable for you =] You can mention my name in your order "thanks Bruno".. it sounds good for me hahahahahaa... POWEEEEEEERRRR!!!!

      +ElectricBike (Bruno) hehe. Sounds good. I was just being a cheapskate to see if I could get a discount. Hey Bruno, I really appreciate your videos and time man. You are a voice in the the desert and someday the general public will see the light on electric bikes. Screw this government and its stupid dumb laws. They should restrict cars to 250w per passenger and 1000w for the car and see how everyone would like going back to Flinstone's days push the cars with their legs. Greedy lobbyists and power hungry politicians

      +Jose Gonzalez $1400 for a bbs02 with a 20ah triangle pack battery. On the first charge i played around upto level 9 PAS and I got 83km out of it and I know I can get more if I was serious about commuting further and kept the power under check. I purchased this kit of an ebay seller out of ebay but via paypal for buyer protection. He is a great guy and I'd highly recommend him to anyone. His name is Daniel Pereira and his ebay id is electricbikesandstuff. BTW i dont know if he will still provide this combo at the same price as I was the first to purchase his triangle battery pack so please ask him and he will get on top of it.

      +Daniel Alvares Would you recommend buying the new 1000watt bafang motor? or the 750 watt will be enough? is there a difference between the two in terms of durability?

    • @danielalvares2952
      @danielalvares2952 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jose Gonzalez Mine's a 750w but if you can spend a few more dollars then go for it. I didnt realize that places like emax-ebikes.com.au sold these or else i would have got it. however i have no regrets with my current motor either. Oh and Bruno I am sorry for recommending another seller here I just thought that it is rude to recommend another seller especially when you are providing support through your company. so please if you delete my comment I wont take it personally as its your channel :)

    • @BrunoPOWEEER

      +Daniel Alvares - +Daniel Alvares - Yeeeahhh.. no problems here... I work for emax-ebikes.com.au but I am always helping people from all over the world I also talk about other sellers etc... I see my messages as an open space like a blog so people can post whatever they want, the more info people share the better for everyone =]
      Yes, I know Daniel Pereira, we talk all the time, I personally don't do any business, I try to stay away and just do the geek research and tech stuff + helping people here and passing all the feedback I get from my subscribers to the sellers and also Bafang so they can improve things.
      The last shipment Bafang sent BBS02 motors labeled as 500w but the motors are all the same, the only thing is they changed the settings (programming) lowering the amps but if you pump it up you get all that power. It is interesting because on Bafang website the 750w is gone they only show the 500w, I think it may be a marketing strategy pressuring people to buy the BBSHD 1000w.
      83km/h?? Are you running this thing with 52T chainring like I did in this video th-cam.com/video/5NQAZSzJdrc/w-d-xo.html
      Ah check the display settings making sure the wheel is set to the correct size (26" / 700c / 29) if its all correct, you should post a video and drop a comment in my 85kmh video with your link, many people wouldn't believe my speed, I need more cases showing that YES it is possible if you're crazy enough hahaha... so much POWEEEEEERRR =]
