Joel I’m 63 years old and I love this channel in 1989 I was 7 months pregnant with my 4th baby staying with my mom when her swamp cooler stopped working checking with an uncle of mine. He said he thought it was probably the motor so I climbed up a ladder got on her roof drew a picture of the way the motor and the color of the wires were setting in the swamp cooler unit because of that, I was able to put a brand new motor on it and it started working right away. I love how you make things look simple enough for the average. person to be able to use these videos in their own ways. Thanks for such a great job you and Bonnie and your family are the best.
To anyone watching this you must short the capacitor to discharge the energy or you are going to get a hell of a shock. Make sure to cross the terminals with an insulated screwdriver with the power off before you disconnect the wiring. 20 year hvac technician, trust me you will be thankful you did.
Won’t shorting with a screwdriver put strain on the capacitors life? Would it be better to set your meter to Volts and short them that way since your meter will take the hit up to 1k Volts?
Thank You Joel! Such a pleasure to watch someone do a very through and well detailed video! I have to help a neighbor on his RV, we’re not sure if it’s the CAP or fan motor, but this sure helps! Also you have very good parenting and schooling!
My dad drove under a height barrier at a gas station forgetting we had the bikes on a rack on top🙄, my handlebars were never quite the same 😅. He only did it once though
Hi Joel. This is how to check which capacitor it was: * Turn the AC off at the thermostat and throw the breaker for the AC. * Turn multimeter to volts and check C to herm, Herm to fan, and C to fan. This discharges the capacitor. * Take picture of terminals, so you know where they go when replacing the terminals on the contacts * Now disconnect terminals and set meter to capacitance to measure microfarads. * Measure common to fan and common to herm (hermetically sealed compressor) and compare it to the label on the capacitor The larger capacitor starts your compressor (Herm) and the smaller capacitor starts your fan.
Joel, I feel so bad that your having to work on what should be your relaxing trip. Lol! If your like my husband though, after being in the car that long, it probably felt good to be working your hands and mind doing something else. Prayers that this will be the last fix a major problem the rest of the trip. 😊
You may already know about or have one of these.....but a trucker's GPS could be a lifesaver for you. Truckers GPS has routes you should avoid due to height limits or turns in which big vehicles & rigs like yours can get into serious trouble, really quickly. Enjoy your trip! 😊
My late husband, anytime we travel he had a whole toolbox with everything you can think of and a few times that came in handy myself. I carry a hammer if I can’t fix it with a hammer it don’t need fixing lol.
I was wondering about that chandelier. Guess we know now what happened with it. At least you are able to figure it and fix it. Then hopefully you can get some rest and relaxation for a little while. Enjoy Florida Keys.
A little lost... in the end, did you patch up the front one that was crushed? As folks state below, checking capacitors is easy and always wise to have spare(s) in the RV.
I have never really discussed it, but we have been doing TH-cam influencing for nearly 10 years. It has been my full time occupation. We have been blessed beyond my wildest imagination and I am grateful for our subscribers and viewers. Thank you for watching.

@@jeffschaeffer5520 the correct way is with a discharge tool but you won’t be doing any damage with the screwdriver.
@@Imagasholejudging by your picture, you are wrong. You are definitely not PERFECT, only one is. 🐬

Oh no Joel! Well now you know you have to really watch for that for sure!! I knew you would get one running! Good work Joel!! 🔌🧰🛠🪛
Glad you were able to fix that! That looks like a very busy RV park and it seemed loud too! Thanks for testing out these places for us.

Oh do I feel for that man....
Joel your bike 🚲 will be the next repair or is it the cracked windshield?

Very helpful thank you.

Huge saving Joel- well done. 🌟👏
JOEL FACE IT YOUR A NATURAL!!!
Really great video helped me replace my capacitor. I also use some pontoon cleaner to clean the air coils. And it dropped the temperature by 5°
I've said this before Joel...you NEED TO BE TEACHING🎉 🎉🎉
It's a good idea to always discharge the capacitors before pulling the wires off.
Way to go Joel!!!!!!! You are AWSOME!!!!!!!!!

Joel you are a legend.
Cool stuff Joel!
Also, the Houses in the Back are Stellar!
Very educational video!
Where would one purchase a capacitor since we don’t have “spares” 😊
Grainger caries them, but some places require a license.

@@TodaysTaskyou really make money making TH-cam videos?
$1800 is down right robbery, are people out their mind? That cost of new unit! American Dream dead! Nice vid tho!
I paid $1000 for a new 15k GE unit for my 2021 Jayco ( 2 months out of warranty) in April 2023. Lone Star RV in Houston did it
