- I have lots of other Rodtrek videos. Please drop in, look around, and subscribe.
This video will also apply to Versatiles on the Chevrolet Platform. Filmed on a 2004 Chevy Express 3500 Popular 190 which has an additional inside water tank. Some of the later models will have variations on water systems.
Be sure to read the manual before taking on this task. Diluting the bleach before you put it into the tanks is a good idea as it is less likely to damage the vehicle or harm you. Wear safety glasses and gloves.

If I recall correctly you can use citric acid instead of bleach. Can't tell you how many shirts and pants I've ruined from bleach! Lots of time you see this being used for beer making to clean the tanks. Citric acid makes a great cleaner that's all natural. It comes as a powder so you can mix it in a small container to dissolve prior to using.
nice indepth tour of water system, handy 2 my 95 chevy 210 new 2 me!
Thanks for this video!😯
We have a 190 Popular 2003. I see you have a mattress on the bed area. Can I ask what size and where you got it?
Use a new transmission funnel to add the bleach to the tank
A flexible funnel would be the best way to go to add the bleach.
What about the dumping of the antifreeze in your driveway. Is that poisonous to pets?
RV antifreeze, usually red/pink, will not harm people, pets or wild animals. Ethylene glycol antifreeze, usually yellow/green, used in a vehicle's engine IS harmful to people and animals.
you should walk yourself through the procedure first so you don't have to correct yourself. I'm more confused now than before I started...
Hey bud I had a quick question a little unrelated to the video. Say you wanted to use your hot water heater in the winter. Is it not possible to use it after winterizing? Or can you use the indoor water tank supply to use with the water heater?
Thanks in advance.
I had a look at the 2005 manual and it seems that you can use the hot water tank in the winter but obviously you need to keep the van warm when you do this. I'd be interested in knowing how long the propane lasts during the winter. Please check your manual: archive.org/details/@steverontario?and%5B%5D=Roadtrek
We want to get our propane tank certified but can’t find anyone who does that. We are Ottawa area. Do you know how to find someone? Thanks!!
I think I had mine done in Renfrew or Arnprior.
