    I’ve been a hvac engineer for 20+yrs now and found your videos while scrolling through TH-cam….so glad I did as I watch them all the time, wealth of knowledge and learning new things about plant I hadn’t worked on before. I tell my lads who work with me to watch them to learn from….the time and effort you have put in must be incredible to produce such detailed and informative videos…well done mate…keep it up..👏🏻

    this is an incredible resource. i'm 19 and and just getting into the HVAC field and beside my mentor i don't really have any other source for information. i really appreciate the time and effort went into this especially in the diagrams and schematics designed, much easier to understand over someone trying to explain a specific system, part or unit.

      Really pleased to hear these resources are being used to help young engineers. It can be difficult to get the hands on experience and exposure that's why we try to include as many models, photos and real life examples as possible. There's plenty more videos on the way!

    I had to pause the video at 18:00 minutes just to show appreciation for how much I've learned so far from your knowledge. I'm brand spankin' new to the HVAC world and I start technical school July 5th. I'm taking HVAC/R and PLC Systems. I hope to start some sort of basic work at least halfway through the school year if I get lucky. Can anyone give me any advice on starting off fresh? This is a major decision I've made but I also look at it as an investment for my life and career. I'm 27 and I need good career like this one. I would appreciate any advice from anyone out there in the field. Thank you so much for this video. New sub here.

    • @EngineeringMindset
      @EngineeringMindset  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey Bodega, really glad to hear the videos are helping you and that you've gone into HVAC. It'll definitely be an interesting career choice. My advice would be to ask everyone everything, if you see something and you don't know what it is and how it works then ask around until you find someone who does. Never be embarrassed to ask or to learn, no one was born with knowledge, it is something we acquire. If a service engineer comes in, shadow them and pester them so you know exactly what they are doing and why. Write down the model numbers of equipment and ask the manufacturers for their service guides. Lastly, don't over complicate things, large systems are complex but if you break each part down it becomes much more simple.

  • @arwaabougharib8698
    @arwaabougharib8698 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for the amazing explanation, but there is something I can't understand at 41:32 -You pointed out expansion valves and refrigerant pipes within the AHU - shouldn't the refrigeration cycle and refrigerant just be in the chiller? Based on my understanding of your previous videos, AHUs, FCUs, and cooling towers just exchange heat between air and water, and only the chiller exchanges heat between the refrigerant and water. Why is this AHU different?

    • @EngineeringMindset
      @EngineeringMindset  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the AHU might have either a water cooled heat exchanger (or hot water for heating) or they might have their own refrigeration system or be connected to a chiller system. There's lots of variations and reasons for choosing the systems design.

    At 36:14 you say you will get much greater efficiency in the heat exchanger if the fluid is moving against the force of gravity. Is that a mistake? I can see how that may make sense in a refrigerant evaporator or steam economizer, but I don't understand how gravity impacts the flow of single-phase water. Can you clarify?

    thanks for the reply and sharing the link. Even though the AHU's here where I am at are built different, its the same concept. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait for other HVAC videos and related concepts.

    The chamber where the returned air mix with the external air can be considered a mix chamber? I mean, both airs just meet together without any device in this chamber to somehow mix them?

    I would be an even bigger fan if you could perhaps do a "building services troubleshooting video" for common HVAC issues and remedies.
