Endymion was a mortal in Greek mythology who had a relationship with the Moon goddess Selene.

I always used to listen to Sonata ALL the time when i was younger, I just recently started again, I forgot how Gorgeous their songs are! This song, reminds me of my wife so much! I would listen to this song quite a bit before we actually got together. We met online playing World of Warcraft, So she was my dream. Best 9 years of my life! We did everything together, even worked together. She passed away 2 months ago, Now I Listen to this song again, Longing to have her in my dreams and the time, when two souls will again, entwine.

My man, it almost feels like your post was carefully constructed to torment me. The love of my life and I were also together for 9 years and where we didn't meet on WoW, we played it together a lot. I once found my Selene (not her name). Too bad I didn't realize it sooner, or try to meet with her when I had the chance. It's too late now, and I didn't even get to tell her how I feel. Now I wait and hope to see her in my dreams.

Loneliness really makes someone do and dream about things that sometimes can be shameful. We all know what this does to some people. Some just lose it and do insane shit. But loneliness doesn't make you a bad person. It hurts, it alienates you from relationships and connections. Makes you feel that being loved is just that, a dream. Shameful dreams.

in my opinion this song isn't just about his love compared with selene and endymion, he's trying to create a poetry but he haven't the inspiration so he indentified a girl as a muse but he's lonely and he doesn't succeded to write anything and "the book is still empty as him"

This reminds me of the last girl i fell in love with. I could never establish a good conversation(I'm very shy, she is too), then one night i had a dream in wich we were together walking on a field. The song references the greek myth of Endymion and Selene.
Same myth was the same that inspired the whole relationship of Sailor Moon and Prince Endymion.

Endymion was the son of a son of Zeus, a nephew of Zeus. He was actually human and had no god-like powers, but Zeus let him choose the date of his death.
Also it is unsure on whether he was married or not, and manuscripts vague from King to Hunter.
But there is a version of the myth that talks about Endymion getting eternal sleep to avoid consciently cheating on his wife.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It doesn't touch me as much as Shamandalie does, but still I love it very much. Whenever I feel like listening to these kind of beautiful songs I listen to certain songs by Iron Maiden and Sonata Arctica, both great bands with great feeling in their music.

Sonata Arctica's lyrics are so ingenious we don't even realize how ingenious they really are before we interpret them correctly.
This is one of my favourite songs by Sonata Arctica, and will remain so for a long time. The melody combined with the lyrics and Tony's singing, makes this song so incredibly beautiful it's almost not to believe. This song makes me tremble everytime, and the solo is amongst the greatest; it's just so ... epic (the best word I could come to think of as of now).

After reading the comments about Selene and Endymion, I think I get the meaning behind the song. It's about a guy who loves a girl. It's an abusive relationship, the guy I assume to be the victim. He wants to leave her and end the abuse, but he still loves her. That's what I get out of it, at least.

After a little bit of researching, I suddenly understood the meaning of the beautiful lyrics of this great song a lot more.
In Greek mythology Selene is a moon goddess, which makes sense ('Dressed in the whitest silver', 'Every night I wait for my sweet Selene'). Selene is Endymion's lover, which explains 'Would you let me be your Endymion?'
I assume this song is about two people who are being compared to Selene and Endymion, and in "Endymion's" point of view, thus 'My Selene' ... etcetcetc.
