The album was recorded to tape so there is not as much production and the vocal harmonies are not lined up exactly perfectly as they would be if it was recorded digitally. As for Brendon and Sarah the song is not about them at all and they are fully together and happy and so in love. You can see and hear it when they light up when they see each other or when they talk about each other (when they were streaming on Instagram live or on Twitch). Neither of them are very active on social media at all from their personal accounts, especially Twitter, but Sarah has been reposting every single thing that Panic! has posted on her Instagram stories. She was also at the filming of both music videos and was hanging out with Leah the actress/dancer and also commented on one of Leah's posts. The song is not about their relationship but could be about past relationships when he was younger or it could be about what he witnessed in a relationship that one of the old band members had in the past. It could also be using what can happen in relationships as a metaphor for what happened with the band before Ryan and Jon decided to quit. They maybe kept getting into a cycle of disagreeing and then fixing things and remembering how good things could be and then disagreeing again and back and forth. We won't really know unless he talks about it. Anyway, sorry that got so long.
