1st thing to do with first watercraft and trailer. Find a large parking lot and practice backing up. Practice, practice, practice. Learn to use the mirrors or open the back hatch or tailgate so you can see what you're doing.
NAAAHHHHHHH makes too much sense. Just let the TRAILER practice backing on it's own at the public launch....MORONS !
My neighbor bought a jet ski couldn’t back it in told him same thing.a half hour in a parking lot he came home put them behind his house with no problem looked like he was a pro
It is sooo painful to watch these people backing down the ramp.
was painful trying to watch that guy get in the boat. like he was a twig he could have launched him self in the boat.
...and now we see why they started adding trailer steering onto trucks.
If only people would start backing trailers with their hand on the bottom of the steering wheel...
I think that some of them look so bad because they cannot see their trailer behind the truck or suv. PVC trailer guides would help

MBR is awesome..back in college I worked at a boat rental right next to a boat ramp...we would watch people doing these amazing boat ramp feats all day ..and with the same kinda commentary...you guys are awesome

About 6 minutes in when the dude in the Jeep is backing the jet ski trailer down the ramp the guys in the boat on the dock are rinsing the inside of the boat out with salt water!

I have always called it the Bar Stool on my way in..."Look out for the Bar Stool"..Everyone gets to sit on it at least once..

For people who cannot back up your trailers. Hook it up one day go to an empty parking lot and take a couple of hours backing the trailer around in the parking lot. Concentrate on where you want it to go and start putting it there. Use the hand positioning of both hands at the bottom of the steering wheel and if you want the trailer to go to your right use the right hand at the turn it towards the right if you want it to go left use the left hand and turn towards the left. Keep in mind use the hands at the Bottom of the Steering Wheel not the top. A short trailer is more sensitive to your movements than a longer trailer. Do it slow and focus.

I still think the sandbar should be called SURPRISE!, because, well, surprise.
"Sunken Sandy" for the sand bar and.....It just never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that just don't know the basics of backing a trailer or how to put their boat or jet ski back on a trailer. For backing a trailer put your hand on the bottom of your steering wheel and when you want the trailer to go left then make your hand go left and the same for right. STOP backing your trailer all the way under the water. Your bunks should be between 1/2 and 1/3 out of the water when you stop and just drive the boat onto the trailer. If you have 4 wheel drive, use it. When you are lined up straight with the ramp then put your vehicle in 4 wheel drive. That way when your back wheels hit the waters edge and all that green slime growing just under the waters edge makes the ramp like ice you won't launch your vehicle. ps: As soon as you are out of the water take it back out of 4 wheel drive because 4 wheel drive doesn't turn worth a crap on blacktop.
Good comment but i'd like to add something. Some ramps do not allow for powering onto the trailer so you may have to have your bunks deeper. I personally don't power on to my trailer because having a v-drive wakeboat, it always kicks my stern to the side and never sits proper on the bunks. If it isn't dead center then my straps end up getting cut by the swim deck. Perhaps other trailers are more forgiving but my Axis has literally no tolerance because of where they mounted the straps.
@@davidgray8089 I didn't know that about "not powering onto the trailer" but I can see why. My trailer dropped off the concrete one time and it ripped the axle off getting it out.

I've been doing this since I was 11 years old,with my father's truck, with a manual transmission. These guys have it easy.and still can't do it.

I guess no one gets that the shorter your trailer the faster it responds to steering corrections if you turn hard it jack knifes faster keep it straight and make small adjustments also remember that when backing steer the opposite direction you want the trailer to go left=right right= left.

Did a w/e bare foot skiing behind a Mastercraft, the boat flattened the water out nice but didn't chew up the matchsticks, man they hurt the feet.

When I drove a big rig many moons ago one trick we'd use to cure over steer-itis was to start with your front wheels and trailer straight at your starting point(top of the ramp). Grip the "BOTTOM" of the steering wheel with one hand where your knuckles are pointing up and palm facing down. you're going to use your palm as a pointer. Whatever side you point your palm is where the rear of the trailer will go. For example; With a good grip on the steering wheel, move your palm to the left and the rear of the trailer will go left and so on. Slowly back down the ramp. Make small and frequent corrections as you go. It will become second nature in no time.
