    My cousin had one of these in 1986 when he and I were 16 and his 1st car. I always loved these. IF I COULD JUST WIN THE LOTTERY. New Subscriber by the way.

      Thanks for subscribing! Sadly the 1964 Merc's are getting harder to find.

    Love the car, and the bold yellow repaint. Best bet is to check that data plate on the drivers door jam. It will indicate if that is a Canadian built car. Engine code X is 352CID engine, but really only put in Canadian built full size Mercs. Cars built in the U.S. had a 390 as the base engine, either code Y or H. Those ornaments on the deck lid near the rear window are just that. Nothing else went there. '63 and '64 Marauders had them as well as convertibles. In the cabin on the lower left dash.......is a warning light with a red plastic lens that would blink when the parking brake was engaged. Yup, nine inch differential and no racing flag is a bit of a mystery...I think all Marauders should have had them. Enjoy !

      Canadian car? I never bothered to check where this originated from as I just have the title and went from there. I'll check up on it in the next few days as I'm going to be extremely busy starting this afternoon with a few other channels and working on cars more. I'll let you know on what comes up when I have time so thanks for that bit of info!

    With the battery connected if you gently pull out the clock knob and release it it resets the points in the clock bet it still works

      I can always try that as I plan on taking out the dash to work on when winter hits. I'll have to see what kind of 'system' I could whip up from some double D batteries to light stuff up without ruining anything or whatever equivalent outside of a car battery since I won't have anything proper to regulate the voltage properly in the wiring harness in the dashboards. I'm also going to look up and see how to refurbish a lot of our stuff since they're not common to find anymore like the old speedometers and what-not around the gauge areas.

      It works off a point type system when you pull the knob out it resets a cam and elector magnet the knob is notched to pull the two contacts away with batt volt the electo mag is energized and when the other point gets close the field pushes the arm back like a self energized worst watch of the time thanks I remember back in 78 we had and have a 74 Monterey and the clock quit working I took it out and realise just pull the knob back I was 11 at the time thanks sorry for long wind

    When you had the door open it look like the Mercury was originally white. And I bet the bracket that was mounted underneath the dash was were an 8 track was mounted.

      It's a repaint job of ages past. Someone used a white base coat then lazily painted the rest of the car yellow. Ya know, I never thought of someone putting an 8 track accessory in the car though not sure how far those went back as I always thought they were a 1970's thing. When I take it out I'll have to see if its something left over to being an 8 track once or something else

    Great car looking forward to seeing it done from what I've seen on other shows they were tutone with the trim like that white to go with interior an another color to complement it see if you can get a marti report that breaks down how it was built an if your not going to do a factory resto I'd put a 351 an a overdrive auto with mechanical lockup overdrive in it to keep the cost down ford used them in cars an pickups from the early 80s up to 92 from memory

      Thanks! The only thing I'm curious about is how the frame is holding up. I'm sure it's fine but with it sitting for over 30 years I'm sure there's some stuff going on with it though I'll probably take it off the frame next year depending on how fast I can get the frame redone on the '58 Fairlane.
      Oh, nah! I don't want to downgrade the car from a big block to a small block. Sometime in November we'll have access to some big blocks for a lot of our vehicles so I'll just take my pick and go!

      @@TheDirtCatBrothers good to hear you can get some big blocks from your videos I hoped you didn't have to buy a lot of crate engine's that gets costly real quick because it's all the little stuff that adds up quick an when you get to wiring in the cars there is different ones available I put a painless performance one in my f250 it's the most complete one I found with some of switches an plugs an the easiest diagrams all the wires are printed on with what they do an where they go

    • @TheDirtCatBrothers
      @TheDirtCatBrothers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterselten500 I know the feeling. I think the only crate engine that 'may' happen will be the 6.2 Hellcat for the '73 Roadrunner when that time comes unless Dodge puts out something better than the 6.2.
      For the 352 blocks, we know some people that are holding quite a few heavy duty blocks back for us so we can bore them out to 428. We're going to need about 7 of them to what we're planning!

    Are you restoring this one- or parting it out?

      Restoring. Nothing is being parted out unless we state it within the video and no it’s not for sale either.
