- The record company invited me to Munich for the sold-out SWEET concert on 15th December 1973 at Circus Krone.
So, one day after the fabulous Rory Gallagher night concert in Amsterdam, I found myself checked-in at the Munich Arabella Hotel (oh yes, the holy Musicland Recording Studio was situated in their basement)!
I interviewed Brian Connolly (R.I.P.) in his hotel room and took some photos. After that, I asked SWEET to pose for some photos in the hotel...and suddenly they started to undress...what do you do as photographer? I just kept shooting (hahaha)...
The result was published in the POPFOTO N° 360 of February 1974...
P.S. When I asked him: "What would you SAVE first if your house was burning?", he laughed...because he understood 'what would you SAY first'...English language = difficult language for Germans!

Sweet:
Brian Connolly - vocals (R.I.P.)
Andy Scott - guitar
Mick Tucker - drums (R.I.P.).
Steve Priest - bass (R.I.P.)
Loved his answer to the burning house question it made me laugh, love to hear his voice I miss him sooo much RIP Brian.
So nice to hear him sound so strong and healthy .... sounds so confident. Makes you love him even more, if that's possible. Nice photos, some I've never seen. So sad how his life ended ..... RIP Brian Connolly.
The end of vulnerable, sensitive souls...as he was, as they say, skinless...he felt everything, deep down, the joy and sadly, the pain...you could feel it even when he was healthy. He was a being you could hurt...They are also the most beautiful souls.... It's the flipside of the coin...❤
I love to hear Brian's wonderful voice 🥰
He was a lovely person 💕
Thank you for sharing.
What a sweet, sensitive man. When he said he can't stand seeing animals mistreated, it melted my heart ♥♥♥
A sweet and gentle soul, so sensitive that it was all too easy to inflict wounds...if the eyes are the mirror of what you have inside, in his case, everything was transparent. Those extraordinarily dark grey-blue eyes shone like a summer night in his best moments, but when he was suffering, they were as black as the deepest of abysses...❤
Very nice interview with our lovely Brian. He always seemed like a thoughtful person. When I found out he was a fellow horse lover I almost came unglued, since I've been obsessed with them since I was 4. We all still miss you dear Brian. RIP to you, Mick, and Steve. 💜💘
Met Brian a few times, an absolutely genuine person
Love Brian's Cheeky laugh he was the most lovely person ever

Glad you liked it...sorry, I've interviewed Brian only once. Btw, I worked for the German magazine POPFOTO from 1971 to 1974...

Wonderful to hear the voice of my favorite singer after 46 years. Thank you for sharing.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this! It's the best thing ever to hear Brian's voice and learn about his opinions and about what was going on in his head back in 1973. What a phenomenal man!! Thanks again! And thank you for sharing the story about the photoshoot, it's really funny, exactly something the Sweet would do..
Maybe he should have interviewed her. No doubt there would have been better questions.
Brian Then, Now and Forever.❤
Nice interview but would have been lovely to see the interview
Good to hear Brian in top form! Not sure he totally understands words like 'extravagances' and 'sentimental' but he gets there in the end! All the best from Steve Priest and Sweet (over in LA, but hoping to come to Europe soon!). Cheers.
Did laugh at his answer to that question
What a lovely interview. I enjoyed every second. Thanks a lot for posting it!
O, me too - this is evidence of the beautiful spirit that defines Brian through and through. I will listen to this over and over and over again.
So lovely and sweet....♥️🎤
Great '73 Bri interview, you sound so young 🙂. I rang the Bravo 'star telefon' all day when Brian's message was on there about 1975, just to hear his voice again and again...😉
I would have done the very same 😊
