i loved the music of the sweet....they were 100% my idols in the seventies........ !!! RIP Brian
" Brian Connolly ... a true rock sensation " ! Absolutely !!!
Yes... Brian is still missed and it was a tragedy how his Life ends.
My first Band i see live with my Dad in Essen Germany in April 1975...
And it was SO GREAT... simply unbelivable... I never forget that gig... The Sweet my absolute favorite Band Band of all Time...
Brian, a huge part in the sound of my childhood. Your memory will live on! Keep rockin, wherever you may be!
RIP dear Brian. You are still loved and missed by your true fans everywhere! 💔❤️🔥Keep rockin with Mick and Steve on the other side.💟
Ditto ❤🎉, REST in peace Brian 🙏 🪦 😢😢😢.
i am a huge fan of the sweet. i was listening their music in my teen years back in my home country. run of the fox, love is like oxigen, ballroom blitz, little willy, wig wam bam, etc. brian was an awesome singer. never had the recognition that he deserved. rip brian. you were great!!
My friend and I spent an evening with Brian in The Angel in Staines, he asked us if we wanted to go to a nightclub with him afterwards. He’d bought us drinks already and agreed to meet us there again a week later, we declined. That was the evening he was attacked, I wish we’d gone with him, maybe the outcome could have been better. Believe me, he was a nice man and very down to earth, that was a night I’ll never forget. RIP Brian.
With hindsight, we all would do so many things differently 😥 What a blessing and amazing memory you have to cherish 💯💖 Thank you for sharing 🥰
So beautiful to share this, very touching and sincere. Thankyou.
@@paulmccarthy8345 Thank you so much 🥰
Can you remember the exact date of the 1974 attack?
What date/day/month was the attack? Winter? Spring?
@@mr.blackwell5423 sorry no, it was almost 50 years ago, my friend and I were in the Angel with his brother and friends who ran a disco there called “Shaft”, Brian was sitting at the bar alone, we thought he was someone trying to look like him. Then we realised it was him, without makeup, we drank and talked all evening until closing time, he said he’d been looking at a house for sale earlier that day. We had to go to work the next day, otherwise we’d have gone with him to the nightclub. It was just across the street by the bridge.
I met him once at a friends house he was a lovely man great singer he will always be remembered
Rock and roll legend, RIP Brian the music still lives on, I always crank up the radio when The Sweet are on.
Same here. When I listen to the Sweet my neighbors do too!
Keep Rocking Brian...🎤🎤🎤
Still Listening To The Music...
Loved All You Guys In My Teens and Love You All Now At 59 years young...🎤🎸🎻🎤
🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼
Poor Brian. He was gorgeous in the ballroom blitz video. RIP Brian💋💋🙏🏽😥😥😥 you sang beautiful! And could yell as good as Zepplin!
R.I.P. dear Brian ❤
Thank you for your fantastic music 🎶
Keep on rocking and having fun with Mick and Stevie where ever you guys are 🤘
At the age of 61, I am still listening to their music today. They shaped my childhood and all that was good about it ❤
61 too. Same
I'm 63 and still listen too. Peace out everyone.
To me, he is the greatest voice of my youth. I still love the music... sadly he died much to early....
Today, 9 February Brian is died.
A Star dont die, its put back in the sky, you see it at night, the one Who twinkle so bright. ❤ BFC, 1945-1997.😊
Loved Brian and Sweet😍
He was a true performer.....a great reminder of the 70s along with others we lost
They just showed 'Love is like Oxygen' on BBC4 this week, love that song but it was sad as you could see Brian knew they were falling out of favour with punk and new wave having taken over, he looked sad and uncomfortable.
The greatest singer in the best glam rock group of all time ,
Brian was the BEST singer in the 1970's and from the BEST GLAM ROCK GROUP/ BAND . ROB.
Sorry, but this was Marc Bolan. For this he is member of the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame", what Brian Conolly and his chapel will rightly so never make it.
@@danvelgtr Yes, sorry Connolly. But you see how unimportant he and his Combo, or better rhythm- group for me was.
He was really ahead of his time with the rock country idea that’s exactly what happened to country music. I believe he would have been amazing
Luv'd every second the Sweet did Top of the Pops an hung out for them an Bolan on the Top 40 on Sunday , R.I.P Brian.
Bless you Brian i will always love you ❤🎸🎤🎹
The sweet played at our NavalBase around the year 1998...yes Brian looked his age and he had a bit of a coughing fit on stage, but it was still them and I was in awe. As a kid in the 70's the Sweet were the class act of the time and I,m sure other glam rock bands saw them a the bench mark for Britrock. I still love them, I grew up with the sound.
Met Brian, and Mick tucker in Finsbury park in 1973 had a quick drink in the compass both great blokes very underrated but they were great musicians.R.i.P Brian, Mick.
A great singer and frontman.
FANTASTIC MUSIC
RIP BRIAN 🎸⚡️🎸⚡️
Brian was a incredible singer and front man. Sweet fanny Adams is one of the greatest hard rock albums ever made
AGREED !!!!
Spent the lockdowns ( when not working) listening to Sweet Albums. They morphed into a highly accomplished Rock Band from 1974 onwards and the B sides were always excellent as well. Great Band.
@@aslc2547agree 100%, they were all excellent musicians. Light years ahead of their time
Sweet Fanny Addams has to be a contender for the FIRST metal album.
@@PaddyBaxter-ji8in absolutely. It's a shame that most heavy metal fans don't realise how brilliant Sweet were back in the 1970s
Bryan and the sweet did some memorable
songs I had "funny funny" and "coco" and
"love is like oxygen ".
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I met Brian and the band once, in the bar of Linthorpe Hotel, Middlesbrough when he was touring with Sweet in the early ‘70’s. I offered to buy them a pint each, but they refused, but thanked me - then they sat, drank spirits, and watched Match of the Day until it was time to leave to do their gig. 😁
So sad memories will live.on gone but not forgotten xxx rip 😢😢😢
So tragic 😢 Not just a great singer but brilliant performer as well whose career was destroyed by that fateful night when he got into a fight!
A bands identity tends to be with the voice of its singer especially when it was as unique as Brian’s so this was always going to be end of Sweet in a meaningful way.
God bless you Brian may you rest in peace.
Drummer. The Sweet were a massive influence on my playing. I'd learned all these excersizes and Mick Tucker showed me how to apply them through the Sweets music.Being a bit of a singer, they were the first band that made me realise how important vocal harmonys were. They really opened up my music world with thier unique sound.Such fantastic memories of my teen years. RIP bro.
I remember Mick Tucker from the early70s had a quick snog with him ☺️ when they played at the Diamond club in our town I was only 16 at the time. ❤
@@Bluelady777 naughty girl,tsk,tsk.lol.
Rip and another great man gone fly high from all your family and friends fans condolences 😭🙏😭😭😭😭🙏🙏
RIP Brian Connolly
God Rest Your Soul Brian. I have that Channel 4 Documentary and was Sad to see how
you had Declined with Ongoing Health Problems, and Your Last Ditch Comeback with
Your Version of "The Sweet" R.I.P. Brian. (Don't Leave me This Way)
I saw them in Melbourne in 1990 and Connolly was most definitely singing. It was at the Bridge Club in Richmond, from memory.

Что скажешь!? Талантливый был этот парень! Жаль рано ушёл на небеса😢😢😢😢😢. Зато какие прекрасные композиции оставил и я их слушал и буду слушать пока жив.🤩🥰👍👍👍👍👍
My favorite band in the 70
Его можно не только слушать,но и бесконечно на него смотреть,он
Thank you. Excellent story.
I have Brian Connolly to thank for my name. My mum was a big fan of his in 75 when I was born. My Uncle Brian thinks I was named after him. Nope. My mum was a The Sweet fan that's how I got the name.
That's awesome! When I had my daughter, I don't think she would have appreciated me naming her Mick though. 😂
My xxxxxxxxx gf from the late 80s told me she saw them once in Gloucestershire . She said that Brian leaned over and shook his hair into her face, when she starting laughing he just looked at her and smiled. She said, he smelled like Herbal Essence Shampoo, LOL. Yeah I loved this band back in the day. Even now I still listen to Desolation fifty years on without a hint of boredom
great band fox on the run is my favourite of theirs rip brian
Love is like oxygen is my favorite.
So sad that there are people who brutally attack others as if it is something to be proud of.
Thanks for sharing the photos.
what a bummer he was AWESOME
In terms of vocals, I thought Brian Connolly and Noddy Holder had the most powerful, and recognisable, voices of the 70's pop/rock scene. The Sweet and Slade were two of my favourite groups, along with The Beatles, and Simon & Garfunkel, so I had different musical styles to enjoy. Still remember playing The Sweet really loudly, and my Mum shouting at me to 'Turn it down', so I shouted back, 'Thats the name of the song. Glad you like it!', which earned me a slap. Oh, how I suffered for my music....😂
I was lucky- my parents loved rock and roll. They played their music loud as often as I did, lol. My dad used to crank up the Doobie Brothers and BTO! 😎
RIP Brian, sleep well and sleep peacefully 🙏✝️🕊️
Sweet what a group!!! What hair he had ,,
Saw brian live in lowestoft in 1987 ,was unable to walk properly and had to take a bresk part way through the gig.
Although sad to see, he performed brilliantly and was genuinely " great".
A big part of 70s glam rock so many good bands in the early 70s
When Sweet were at their hight around 1968 I was the manager of an electrical shop with engineers wring out back. Often this guy would come in the shop to see one of our electricians, it turned out to be the lead singer of the Sweet who was getting repairs for their kit the shop was in Uxbridge high st, another well known character who would pull up outside the shop was a well known actor from the carry on films Sid James.
Love this ❤I remember old Uxbridge High Street 😊Brian came into our primary school at Mary's in uxbridge late 70s must have been I just loved him ❤️
Very much missed. The whole group!
The still perform as Sweet not The Sweet with original member Andy Scott and they sound good too.
The first album I ever bought was the Sweet singles, I have loved their music since.
Beautiful Brian!
Sweet Fanny Adams - Bought as a teenager back when it was released. Great album.
My mom loved his hair back in the 70s
For me the greatest Band ever...
The Sweet sat at our table in a nightclub before doing their act.No egos just 4 great charming lads
Жаль,что рассказ не на русском языке,т.к.английский знаем плохо.....Но очень скорбим о преждевременно ушедшем Брайане.,прекрасный был вокалист,будет жить в моей душе вечно!
I was a little kid in the 1970’s, and had a cassette player and two cassettes of music which I played repeatedly. The Sweet and Donny Osmond.
Lol😂them were the good old days 😊
I was actually at the 1978 concert at Hammersmith Odeon. I had been a Sweet fan since Wig Wam Bam and had all their singles and albums up to then. We were friends with a family in Hayes back in the 70's and when I said I listened to The Sweet, they said that Brian lived round the corner in an ordinary end of terrace house. I knocked on the door and presumably the landlady said he wasn't in. It was a shock to see that not all pop stars lived in mansions. Later that same day a limousine went past and you could see the back of his head through the rear window. Favourite vocals, The Six Teens. RIP.
The first single i bought was Blockbuster ( loved the drumming score), second was Bohemian Rapsody, third was Dance with the Devil, Cosy Powel. Then i bought the albums Never Mind the Bollox and Sham 69's Thats Life 👌 The rest, as they say was history to my parents disgust. The Anti Nowhere League, another great milestone in my music taste after seeing them support The Damned, and were far better live. Yrs later, and a failing marriage i played "Woman" to my wife as i told her id had enough serving her papers lol you'd have to listen to it to understand lol😂 I still listen to The Sweet.
I Miss him.. was a Good Person♥️
I saw the Sweet in I think 1974 in Perth. Great group...
Rest in peace sweetheart 💋😘💔😭😞
10 years older than me = well missed musician .
Брайан,ты был красавчик,самый лучший! ❤
I like him very well so good
A favorite for me😊
Dying as 51 year old, but looking like 71. That man really burned his candle in both ends.
Brian is the best singer in 70-th.
Saw him once in Sainsbury's, my local supermarket, would have been about 1990, so he would have been around 45. He was shuffling around, supported
by a walking stick, looked in his 80's, shocking to see how substance abuse and alcohol can destroy a person
It saddens me that all his health problems are related.to alcohol.
not knowing his biological background he may.also have. Parkinson's.
All.the same symptoms as.Brian but never took a.drink in !my life.
Diagnosed @ 59. A!so remember he has children and grandchildren
Quit basing after all these years let.it go!
I love “ off the record” and “cut above the rest” and I still have the albums. Missed my shot at seeing them live when they opened for foghat.
Rip brain im alway be your fan😢
Царство небесное ему!!!❤❤❤
R.I.P❤❤❤
R.I.P. It was my one of favorite band passed youth
Thank you ❣️
Number 1 British Rock singer Brian
Scottish not British
Too young, that’s for sure, RIP
Always touch your plaque Brian when visiting Breakspear Crematorium. RIP.
He was a great singer and died far too young. What a waste RIP
It so sad about this l like sweet group ❤❤
Brian ❤❤❤❤
Very sad ending.
Thanks sweet you were brilliant
Saw Sweet at Chelmsford at an open air show, brilliant. Loved him. RIP Brian, never forgotten.❤️
Hi there people as a very very sad story
Saw them in Stockhlom at Konserthuset 1975. They were very good - and very very loud!
Great band
Iconic.
Part of my Teenage Years - more Youth Club than Rampage !
I saw him play at the King's Lynn Festival Too in Summer 1996, I actually filmed it. I ought to put it up on my TH-cam Channel someday
Ano prosím moc o zveřejnění našeho Briana ♥️♥️♥️... zdravím z České republiky z Prahy 🤗🙋
Tedd fel, látni szeretném!❤😊
My late father in law was in Amersham hospital and Brian was in the same ward ,Brian was in the tv room I went to say hello but he had his partner with him he looked terrible so I didn’t want to bother him I believe he had a heart attack
Nice man
Up there with Noddy as the voice of the 70's
Those are my two favourites from that era and I still enjoy listening to them today !
I was rich once. It didn't take me long to be poor again
I often watched him drive his van loaded with instruments near where he lived in Maple Cross Herts
Very very sad 😢
His really mam and dad did love him sllesys❤
