Amongst the mountain of hoover turbopower 1’s we had in our house we also had a Vorwerk can’t remember if it was 120/1/2 but it coped amazingly well with German Shepard hair, and even though the suction motor was a few hundred watts it managed to turn the vorwerk version of Kirby’s zip brush, we did use the tools quite a lot as the dog shed so much hair each day the house looked a barber’s shop at the end of the day with hair in every corner lol. The vacuum was used 5-6 times a day in our house, first thing in the morning, then after breakfast, then when I got in from school, then before mum got home from work, then after dinner then before mum went to bed, and every time we popped out the lounge and kitchen would be vacuumed as soon as we got back wether that be ten mins or 4 hours lol. Think I know where my massive cleaning OCD and love for vacuums came from 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣🤣👍👍

Must admit to liking the look of the newer ones you covered in a previous installment Sam,and like the ones in the background.these aren't my type of thing - my equivalent one of these like yours here had a terrible habit of falling over constantly and I just didn't get along with it really!

Yea it is very good... I really liked the 121 before using it! When their cheap they are a good buy I think, especially just for the floors

the best vacuum cleaner from Vorwerk, only the motors have cheap bearings that tend to wear out... otherwise they are almost indestructible

We have a soft spot for the VK118-VK122 style.
For us the later machines got too plasticky and creaked & groaned too much in use.
It is still possible to get the green cloth outer cover alone or a complete new filter assembly fairly cheaply - £10 to £25 range.
We got a bunch of fleecy type bags for our VK122 a while ago, around £25 for 25 bags delivered. We think they are still making these in Czechia branded Koma. These were much better than any paper bags we've used in the VK122.
Our friend now has this machine on permanent loan and it has replaced a Dyson DC25 which was a turd. The VK122 hasn't given a moments trouble to them in nearly 12 months of use in their small flat with a cat.
We understand that the plastics are a bit prone to damage as they age but overall the machines are a doddle to work on and parts can be sourced either new or from donor machines pretty cheaply.
We reckon a VK120 like yours, once tidy, would give a lot of modern machines a run for their money, especially on carpet.
    👍

Compared to the vk135 with its reputation for eating motors the 120/1/2 is brilliant tbh! I've not got rid of these yet, I'm going to sell my nice 120 and look at maybe the better one of these next year.

Those VK120s certainly have lasted a fairly long time! I have a soft spot for Vorwerk, personally I wouldn't trash the VK120s and just keep them for spares but I understand why one might want to let them go they are certainly EOL by now. I personally like the VK140 the most, and some of my collector friends agree that the VK140/150 (I like the green more personally) Is Vorwerk's peak design. The VK200 was a bit of a step backwards in some ways with the powerhead fiasco, and on the latest VK7 they've gone back to their tried and true middle drive system and the brush rollers got even thicker than the ones on the EB360 head. Although I'm not keen on Vorwerk going fully cordless I don't think the battery technology is fully there yet to power a powerful motor with a decent runtime while remaining portable. But the VK7 is certainly a better vacuum than any dyson cordless haha. Would love to see a update on your VK150 and hear how you're getting along with it. Cheers Sam!

I keep using the VK150, it's not been refurbished yet 😂 Haven't really used the tools just like very vorwerk owner but for floors, it's stunning tbh! Made me re-assess the other vorwerks I have in the house tbh, got one to go to another collector though (the better of the Bartons 135's, got to make a video about that)

@@beko1987 The tools were always a bit of a faff to use with Vorwerk, and I personally never got along with the shoulder strap but there is actually a accessory for the VK140/150 that turns it into a backpack vacuum so that might be better than a shoulder strap. Put some genuine bags in your VK150 once you do refurb it! :)
