Manchester United 'were all over' Aston Villa in comeback win | Premier League | NBC Sports
/ nbcsports - กีฬา
Why do people keep saying the first half was bad. Villa offered nothing outside of the set pieces. United were creating all the chances in the first half and dominated the 2nd half.
Because it's 2023, people are lazy and only react to scores
Because its Man United, more in to trash them. Seen this for 20 years now.
..because they have no nuance in their thought processes. Utd dominated both halves and could have scored 3 in the first half as well. They just messed up defending two set pieces and got punished. Black and white thinking is ruining people's perceptions of reality. As we all know, you can be the better team and lose.. you can be the better team and draw..and you can be the better team and win. These people can't think outside the boxes they create for themselves and their analysis isn't worth shite.
I disagree, I think Villa clearly dominated in the first half and controlled the tempo of the game -- it really was a tale of two halves.
Exactly. It's just lazy regurgitating of the same old tropes. Those sorts of statements are indisputably true for many other MU games this season, but too many pundits are so comfortable with the easy money they earn that they're much lazier at their desks than the MU players are on the pitch sometimes. No one who paid any attention to the game would not have known that 2-0 flattered Villa at half-time.
But we were the better team even in first half
Why always dividing the halves, as a standard?
One bad, one good?
The only bad things were the cheap goals on corner and freekick. Besides that we created chances even in first half
Villa didnt have much
@@On_my_way_to_Nirvana-jx7ps
That wouldnt surprise me at all
It certainly feels like it
Villa was better in the first half.
Maybe Villa’s two goals were against the run of play, but it’s preposterous to say United were “better in the first half.”
Man United have talented players who are capable of great moments, but the system isn’t working.
Exactly bro we dominated
nah, Villa clearly played better in the first half and dominated the flow of the game up until that point. In the second half, it completely reversed, it really was a tale of two halves.
Mainoo-Garnacho-Hojlund. Build the team around them.
Yep. Establish a core of young hungry players (incl. Pellistri, Malacia, Hannibal, Kambwala, Amad Diallo and others) and fill in the gaps with suitable experienced players... That's pretty much what Arsenal did and yes, it took a few years but it usually works well.
not u hyping hojlund after 1 goal in 6 months ☠️☠️
@@emile_landry he’s scored more than that dummy 😂
@@benwebster7583 yeah like 4 tap ins future is bright 🔥🔥🔥
Totally. And accept that there will be good ManU and bad ManU as they clean up the team sheet.
1st half wasn't actually bad
ITS A CHRISTMAS MIRCALE
The win was all about effort but doing that is what you need every game.
I like Rebecca an the 2 Robbie’s , Rebecca is so good with her team of analysts, love for you all ❤️🌲
Love seeing Robbie again.
The fighting spirit was too Spiritual at the theatre of dreams ✊💓
Theatre of shite dreams
Ur days is numbered
@@abbeyadefugabi1531 who ?
Reminds me of utd city 3-2. Shows these guys arent trying. We need to press everyone and we dont do it enough. Done it well against chelsea and stopped doing it. Makes no sense. Done it 2nd half today and got 3 goals😂
I agree, but I think part of the problem is that managers of other clubs know that this Man Utd team relies on pace in creating goalscoring opportunities, so they nullify that threat with a low-block defence. They also know MU is quite slow in defence (bar Wan-Bissaka) so they hurt us in counter-attack. Chelsea and Villa arrived at OT with a "we'll roll them over with our own way of playing" approach and provided the open game that suits Man Utd. (No guesses as to how Nuno is going to set up Forest versus MU soon!) But that is the kind of players we have and it's up to management to find a solution to the low-block opponents. ETH was correct when he said United will not play the Ajax way because he doesn't have the players that can play the Ajax way. We'll have to be patient until a team is assembled that is more adaptable to different ways of playing.
EDIT: The game at Anfield is an exception since MU needed to banish the 7-0 weight on their shoulders with an ultra-defensive setup. That is one game where I accept that Man Utd needed to play the kind of game that opponents often play effectively against us (and MU almost snatched a victory too!)
The commentary ❤
"They will let you down - when they give you a glimmer of hope that they might be on track do something, they basically go and lose a game that they shouldn't lose. They have got Villa on Boxing Day - they can go and win that, that's how daft it is, and then they could go and lose at Forest four days later."
I hope the team can prove this quote is wrong.
Ericsson was the difference today, villa got lucky the first half, they weren’t great
It just goes to show how different Utd play when all of the players try at the same time. When they play with passion and desire they do well, but they must all do it together as a team, not as individuals.
You know, I actually felt sorry for them after the second goal went in 😂 can youbelieve it? 😅.. credit to them thou 👏 they fought 👏
I thought thhe guy in the thumbnail was Ragnick 🤣🤣🤣
For real 😂
Aston Villa thought they were just going to blow Man Utd away
We really didn’t Villa hardly ever get a result against United even when United don’t play well they win against us we could be the best team in the world and we’d still find a way to lose to United they are just one of those teams we can’t win against.
Who else thought that was Rangnick in the thumbnail 😅
With a better Keeper Utd would have been in control of the game
has legitimately nothing to do with onana he had no major mistakes and was visually blocked off during that set piece, same with the corner
@@3dotttThe Villa player was unmarked for the corner, defo not Onana’s fault. I admit if is De Gea he mighr produce a world class save. But most keeper can’t save that goal.
Like DeGea? He has his pros & cons. Onana has his pros and cons. I think the playing style isn’t working to Onana’s strength. We need smart play, fast break, quick passing like Ajax of 2019 or like we did against Villa.
I must say this pundits are one of the best around in the world this days they are always talking like real humans unlike people like Daren Bent, Gabby, Tim Sherwood,Micah Richard always acting like they did not play the game and like they are Messi n Ronaldo
One of the problems United’s front 3 has is Anthony; no defender fears him. He’s too predictable and 1-dimensional.
antony either does something stupid or does nothing at all. I dont hate the lad but he is not going ton push us. Greenwood/garnacho on the right are better options and hopefully we can get another winger and a 6
One trick pony..and the trick isn't effective
29 apperances without a goal for Antony what a disaster
I think about the moment in the second half where he had just come on, effectively pressed the defender and won the ball back in the opponents 6 yard box. And just proceeded to show no instinct to play a dangerous pass or take a good shot on goal. Just completely sums up his lack of football intelligence for attacking play at times.
Rashford is too selfish to hold the ball for too long. The two goals showing his one touch passing shows what he should play.
I don’t know what game people watching Manchester United wasn’t bad in first half they just conceded unlucky goals.
What was more likely that either Sir Dave Brailsford or Jim Ratcliffe must have spoken to both the players and ten Hag that they were the future of the club. What better motivation than the fact the club’s new management has given the seal of approval
Can we keep the consistency?
I hope so! But alas, most teams don't play an open game against Man Utd like Villa did, so there are many more frustrating times ahead until MU have the right blend of creativity & energy in the team. I admire Emery but he erred in his team set-up last night, allowing MU to play the only kind of game they can play well at the moment.
Looks like manu needed the Glazers to relinquish control. A few solid defenders should help.
The thing with UTD is that their not consistent! They’ll probably lose the next 2
Two goals in first 20 minute it showed defence is not good at all
Didn't think Man U had this in 'em! 👏🏻
I never see journalist milking win loss draw of any team other than united
You need to know or remember that these tv shows are there for business , man UTD is one of the most followed and popular clubs in the world, you have no choice but to build content around them...
The problem with United and their players is consistency. All these will have a sleepover and go awol on the next game and get smashed by Forest. 1 step forward and one backward. Don’t get carried away.
Rasmus mimicks Federico Mecheda...same Aston Villa
That’s okay, they needed it. We’re okay in 3rd
thank you for the generosity now sit down!
Villa were better in the first 25 mins and then it was united's game
Man United funs are the most happiest ppl on earth right now 😊❤❤😂
This game shows are far ahead Liverpool are and how underestimated Liverpool are, Liverpool totally dominated united to the point they where afraid to play football
Yes there are far ahead at anfield.
And yet they couldn't beat us on their own turf 😂 only team in Liverpools last what 38 games all competitions to hold them to a shutout
West Ham smashed them last weekend nevermind Liverpool.
The weakness was onana
Yep. Emery clearly had his team practising those free kicks that bounce in at the far post, having seen what's happened in MU's Euro games with Onana's inability to come off the line and command the 6-yard box. One could see in the way McGinn celebrated that that was exactly what he tried to do. I expect to see more opponents doing that until MU's coaches get that sorted somehow.
Villa don't continue playing that high line, sit in and United would not have been able to break them down. They would have lost. Lots of delusional United fans in the comments here, all of your attacks were long balls over a high line that Emery should have sorted out at half time.
Long balls is part of football. And it brought results
What's wrong with long balls. You state as if it's something to be ashamed off. On the contrary. A perfectly executed long ball over the defensive line to launch your attackers has to be given at the right speed, at the right moment. It's a thing of beauty. Arguably harder than through balls since you have to account for air drag and resistance.
Villa had half their first team out...I wouldn't get too excited if I were a Manchester supporter.
but people on social media will still put time and effort to give højlund crap, even after he scored tonight😂 so toxic to witness sometimes
Man City will win zero this year!!
-4 GD at 6, wow, too many doggy wins for commercial united.
This result is good because it will keep eth in the club for longer. Let him make more transfer mistakes! Let him spend 70 million buying trashes a few more times!!
He will not be making anymore transfer, we are gonna have a proper DOF.
I think mustoe is wrong about garnacho. He is a selfish player who will never be consistent. He never shows willingness to add assists to his game. Once he gets the ball he is only thinking of running at defenders and then shoot.
He has done nothing over the last 5 games except for today. He is too one dimensional, and his skills is inadequate to consistently beat pl defenders, and his physique is too small to be able to dominate opponents like ronaldo can. Ppl need to stop hyping up this piece of trash
beefing with a 19 year old is crazy
It was a game of two halves. I’m sick as a parrot. 🦜
