- In this woodturning video, I twice turn a 27" Pecan Crotch piece into a live edge bowl. This is one of the many piece inspired by @PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop with his amazing live-edge work!

I love the shirt. “I wear this shirt periodically” 😂😂 now to finish watching the video.
LOL!!! Glad you laughed a bit!
Yes. Great job, Daniel. Gorgeous live edge bowl. 😊😊
Thank you, Rob! Definitely was NOT a light piece!
And, WOW!!! What a great piece!!! Impressive!!
Thanks!!!
That was a beast of a project, Daniel, but well worth it. That piece is beautiful. It looks like you'll be turning pecan for a long time to come.
Bill
Thanks, Bill! It was indeed quite a beast. And I still have another huge chunk to get!
Hi Daniel, That is massive and looks amazing.
Great work turning it my friend.
Take care Daniel.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you, Huw! And congrats on your recent milestone!
Love going through the process. The piece turned out great. Love the feathering and the grain. Oh yeah, I love the periodical T-shirt too.
Thanks, Jean! I appreciate the feedback!
As the once famous 80s rapper said: “I like big bowls and I can not lie…” 🤣😂🤣
Awesome job Double-D, love the giant ones! I am so super jelly of the size of bowl you can turn.
Thanks, Tim! You always can make me laugh!!!
Hey! Thanks for the shout out!
No worries, my friend! Always appreciate you!
Excellent
Each piece has its own challenges, but it’s always worth it. Killer grain.
Thank you, John! I agree with how unique each piece is!
@@TournageDubois it’s funny or coincidental that I’m coming up against a few of the exact same issues with my current project.
Unbalanced end grain turning. If it holds together, and I don’t make a lamp shade, I’ll be grinding the bottom of my plate as well. Using Mahoney’s too.
Not sure if u have or not, but don’t be afraid to paint the oil on the bark. It works great.
I certainly will be doing that with my next two coats.
Very nice bowl, Daniel!! Love it!
Thanks, Billy! It sure beat me up! Glad it was worth the effort!
Whew! Now that was worth doing!
Thank you, Valerie! I appreciate that!
Dang that was huge. Nice
Yeah, it really is, Jonathan! Thanks for the feedback!
Wow. That is a wonderful piece. Love crotch pieces and what patterns they produce.
Thanks, Clyde! They really are amazing!
What a beast! I agree that pecan gets really hard when it's dry. I'm finish turning so pecan bowls right now and I'm having to resharpen after just a few passes. However, it is beautiful with an oil finish like you used. Love the feathering in your bowl. Bravo Dan!
Thank you, Stuart! Hopefully you'll share some pics of your pieces!
@@TournageDubois I put up a video showing the roughed out blanks earlier this week. But I will post pictures of the completed bowls… if I remember 🤣
good work man I love it
Thank you, Sid! I appreciate you!
Excellent work on this BEAUTIFUL bowl. I like the walnut oil on this one. You may find that after about a week a second/third coat will really give the piece a rich finish that is so inviting.
BTW, did you brush some oil on the bark? It will help it stay on over time.
Thanks, Doug! I will brush on some oil with the second coat and third, but was trying to get it done in time for this morning... LOL
I just found your channel and this is the first video I have watched. Keep up the great work. What shield/respirator are you using?
Thank you for watching, and for the kind words!
The respirator I have is made by Peke Safety, and can be found here:

Nice. Great work now go take a rest.
Thanks, Bum! I need one after that piece!
