    Your running game time analysis is simply the best , as a chess coach and national master , I am recommending your video series to my chess students , a very good series to follow with your explanation of the moves , very well done !

    Back to back windmill action!
    I like the idea of creating the f6 weakness. Didn't expect it to win the game.

    • @abebuckingham8198
      @abebuckingham8198 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The opening he played is very common and as a 1600 player I get into those lines a lot. Given how much time he spent on the moves I find it plausible they just had a good game.

    • @chrislaguna8390
      @chrislaguna8390 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      as a 1700 ive had a handful of lucky (read: play better than your strength for the whole game) wins against 2100-2300 players, its possible to have a game like that. Also possible to have an equally unlucky bad games in the other direction! At least at a short time control like 3+0

    • @GALENGODIS
      @GALENGODIS 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Must be harder to have a lucky good game than a unlucky bad game. Since a unlucky bad game only needs one misstake, and a good "lucky" game needs luck every move.

  • @marqmaram
    @marqmaram 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jerry, at 27:39 why doesn't Nd2+ Bxd2, Bxd3+ leads to mate with winning the queen? Since the queen has to take on d3. On knight block the king has to go to e1 after the bishop takes the knight, and on the next move have the queen with discovery attack. What am I missing?

    • @nofanfelani6924
      @nofanfelani6924 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After Bxd3+, white can block with the knight and providing the safe g1 square for the king.

      Brendan Smick Black can capture the knight on e5 with the bishop. The pawn recapture is not forced

  • @Tinybabyfishy
    @Tinybabyfishy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    15:35 vs Zack910030 you missed 17...Bb4, skewering the queen and rook. I think the best reply is to move the queen and lose an exchange, as the only other option is 18. Nc3 losing a tempo and met with ...Ne4 which piles on the pinned knight and wins it? Maybe the best outcome for white in this variation is after 19. Rec1 moving the rook out of the line of fire and defending the knight, but then ...Bxe2 can't be recaptured anyway without removing the queen from the knight's defence and putting it in danger again.

    While I love watching all the IM's and GM's sharing their thought processes but often they share lost games. I really don't need losing thoughts, I have plenty of those on my own. That's why I really enjoy your tournaments, more often than not you actually win games! Less 4 or 5 move analysis and more wins and I'll try and glean thoughts and inspiration from the wins. Thanks!

      Unfortunately, no smothered mate as the queen prevents it. Of course, you can take out the queen with your dark squared bishop and if the rook recaptures, *now* you can go for the smothered mate, but if the bishop on g7 recaptures, then there is no smothered mate as the g7 square is now vacated for the king. Cheers.
