- This is a speed (bullet) chess tournament (Monthly Bullet Arena) I competed in on lichess.org while livestreaming on / chessnetwork . Time controls are 1 minute per player. The tournament is held, as you might have guessed, once per month. It is a 3-hour long tournament, and is a bit of a test of one's chess endurance.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. This gotta be one of Jerry's strongest tournament. Surpassing Ferrari's speed. Not to mention outplaying the top dogs many times. You reminded me of Kasparov v Karpov in their WCC encounter where kasparov loses a number of games before he fought back in the last remaining games. You sir, have a tremendous amount of stamina and endurance. To play for 3 hours+ bullet requires consistency, accuracy and skills. Good Tournament Jerry! What a comeback.

When I watch you play I wonder on what a level GM's must be if you are only NM. You're amazing Jerry, I've really improved since I started watching your videos. Keep up the great content!
He's not "only" NM because he's not good enough for a higher title. He's just not interested in going for them. He's easily at IM level, at least.

I like how he calls zeros goose eggs. Obviously, it's just a pleasantly colorful metaphor, but also a goose egg, as in the lumps one gets when one hits ones head, is a mistake which one should learn from just like the zeros, being losses, are mistakes (or a series of mistakes), one should also learn from.

It's rare I see something CN misses, but I saw like 3 big misses in the course of about 5 minutes. It was about 2 hours in though, so understandably the fatigue may have been setting in.

2:06:29 --- The lower rook was free because the king was also on it. He goes up the exchange when he could go up a rook.
2:07:19 --- He allows the possibility of a pawn push blocking his king out. (Doesn't really matter due to time)

Rxd8 if Rxd8 Qxd8 but maybe instead of Rxd8 there was g5 blocking the h4-d8.
He means at 25:56, before Jerry moved his Bishop to D3 the rook on d8 could be taken. I don't think Jerry saw it and he was mainly responding to the queen hitting his Bishop at that moment.

Jerry help!! my rating in standard chess is 1800+ and i even beat players close to 2000 sometimes... but in short time controls like bullet, i cant seem to get my rating above 1500 for some reason and beating 1650+ players seems impossible, but on standard i beat anyone near that rating easily. I don't understand why that is! :(
Take a look at your standard games vs bullet games ... Are you missing tactics? Playing too slow? Those are likely reasons
You're doing the right thing. Standard is best for improvement. Crawl..walk..jog..run. Speed will improve in time, and becoming a more efficient thinker in longer games will help.
you are likely to have much lower rating at the bullet. my standard rating is 2000 but bullet bellow 1200. my blitz is around 1500. the faster it gets the tougher it is

Because they are tricky and always fork him. You have to be very cautious of tricky Knights.
but its very easy to avoid knight forks, I gotta say though that in bullets they're pretty much always gonna land a blow

cptnoremac he meant a passed pawn. A passed pawn is a pawn that is not opposed by an enemy pawn, and is not on an adjacent file to any enemy pawns. Passed pawns are very valuable because they are much easier to promote
That one guy's name is pronounced not as puhOvik, but as puhovIk. Ir roughly means "bedding out of fluff" in Russian.

there are programs that do it all, you don't even have to move the pieces. it's pointless and stupid but i guess these people get something out of it. some sick satisfaction.
