  • As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases. If you've ever wanted to hatch out a batch of chicks, let me show you how easy it is. Using the Little Giant Incubator takes most of the guesswork out of chicken egg incubation.
If you have chickens in your backyard, or if you know someone that sells fresh eggs, you might want to try this. You can gather (or buy) the fresh eggs (just make sure they don't refrigerate them), then incubate them. After you hatch out a batch of chicks... grow them to maturity... then harvest years of eggs from them. Or you can harvest them as meat birds. The process will be tremendously rewarding, both in the edible value, and in developing an important skill set.
This is my 3rd time to hatch out my chicken's eggs. The other two times, it was to increase my laying flock. This time, I'm hatching for meat birds.
Food prices are high and are only going to get higher... we all know that. THIS is a great solution... try it!
    Take care,
    alan

Just as soon as we get moved out to the farm I'll start incubating some for sure! Can't have a rooster now anyway, being in the suburbs (and chickens are strictly forbidden). But I know I already have a market for the chicks, if I don't keep them for myself that is! Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for the video.
I used this product without the fan and I had better results with the fan.
The fan was very easy to install and I woulda/shoulda bought the complete kit instead of adding it later.
I have hatched chickens and turkeys, I am hoping the duck eggs hatch soon.
    It is fun!

I may try quail... if I can get some eggs near me...
And yes, I'll get the fan too ! Hope these do well without it this time.

TexasPrepper2 Don't know if I should tell you this or not, but I have 4 that will go broody. The only thing is that 3 of the 4 lay smaller eggs. At least I don't miss their eggs much when they go broody. ;)

Hatching chicks is quite an experience. I love it. My channel has a few videos on the hatching process.

How do you regulate the temperature on that incubator?

I think it is set from the factory.
      No adjustments needed

You got to watch that bator... They will hatch out great for the first hatch or two then it will not hold/maintain proper temp... I started with one of these

If you have an old computer fan and an unused 9-12 volt power block from an old dead electronic gadget you can just drop that inside.

GOOD VIDEO! When I was 16, I took an "Omaha Steaks" thick walled styrofoam cooler and made one. Had a lattice to roll the eggs back and forth on a timer. And a 40 watt light bulb for heat. Major problem getting a thermostat to keep 99.5 degree temperature. Fiddle fiddle and fiddle adjusting thermostat so much! But I did produce some chicks.
=$100 is a BARGAIN!!! Use a lead pencil to date your eggs. You DO NOT want any RIPE eggs in your house!!! Go to a flea market and get a small $1 computer 12v. muffin fan. You already have a 9-12v. "wall wart" laying around to power it. Hang it inside so it "stirs up the air." DO NOT make a hole to blow outside air into the incubator!!!

Might be cheaper and less labor-intensive to make the hens sit on them...he he On a different note, you can also get chicks mail ordered. I ordered 25 or 30 a few years back as a practical joke for my brother's birthday gift, though you have to pick em up at the post office. We had a local farmer ready to take them off our hands as my sister in law didn't appreciate my intentions.

I've ordered several times ... and yes... the Post Office will call you bright and early to come get the noisy things !
I can't get my hens to set, and don't know how to "make" them... :(

I bought a pc fan from goodwill for $1.75 and installed it in mine. Works great.

I sure do not like the little giant; i have had two; the last one was with a turner and i ended up taking them back because I could not get the temp to hold...it kept shooting up to 102 and then back down to 97 w/out touching the thing; when i get a good batch of chickens and can keep them in their pen so I can find the eggs, I want to invest in a nice automatic hatcher
