- Hello everyone. Here's a short about Ranni and her questline. I always wondered about this, how come Ranni is deemed as a hero when she literally had Godwyn taken out, along with so many others? Can't wait to find out more answers in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC!

@@personwhoexists1the Elden Ring is literally the problem.
Also people keep blaming her for the Deathroot and the Shattering but Miquella trying to use erdtree burial, a ritual to allow someone to die permanently, to try to revive Godwyn is what caused the deathroot and Marika is the one who broke the Elden Ring causing the shattering and if you paid any attention you’d know she couldn’t give two fucks about literally any of her children so Godwyn’s death is very obviously not the actual cause.
@@lushedleshen godwyn was a golden child, marika didn’t care about mohg or morgott as we can see, by their shackles but marika thought godwyn was her golden heritage and if her perfect child died it would make her go crazy. during the shattering it was known as a time of chaos, so if the elden ring was holding that back we can assume it’s good
@@personwhoexists1 the Golden Lineage was dogshit, Godwyn was the only one of that entire line that wasn’t a mutant.
The notion that Godwyn’s death drove Marika to despair is a supposition by followers of the Golden Order.
The evidence points to her looking for a way out the entire time. The Elden Ring, and especially Marika’s Golden Order were the main source of strife in the Lands Between. Even Miquella, formerly the greatest of the Golden Order fundamentalists, abandoned the Golden Order. There was no good solution that involved the Elden Ring as it’s essentially the conduit by which the Outer Gods are able to impose their influence on the world.
Ranni was the only DemiGod to free herself from the two fingers, Its unfortunate that Godwyn was assassinated for that reason but with the real Japanese translation she is actually giving everyone free will and to live like we do in our world. Not knowing if there is a God or creator of the universe.
"not knowing if there is a god or creator of the universe" We don't know knew who created the lands between of Elden ring's universe, can't be Marika since she litteraly left the shaman village in the realm the Shadows to go to the lands between guided by the greater will, it can't be the greater will either because the greater will wasn't always watching over the lands between since the Erdtree wasn't always there according to the lore, and it can't be any of the known outer gods since most of them aren't benevolent like the golden order.
The worst thing is not only was he apparently a good guy (was the first one to be friends with a dragon and brought peace, was also loved by Miquella), but with his death, death spreads all over the lands between.
Whats interesting is i wonder where his soul actually went. Did it make its way to the Helphen or is it stuck because the body needs to die a proper death
@@mr.ashenfire2624 well apparently his soul died and can never be recovered
He was also protecting Miquella and Malenia. Miquella being cursed to be young forever and Malenia with the Scarlet Rot, Godwyn appears to be hugging them in one of the statues in the Haligtree area.
It's likely, though, that Ranni didn't want him dead either. Marika, on the other hand... Well, that black knives do try to assassinate her during her questline. So really, who controls the assassins?
@@thecommentguy9380 His soul is not destroyed. Miquella concocted a ritual to return Godwyn’s soul back to his body, but it required a Solar Eclipse. However, a Solar Eclipse could never happen due to Radahn holding the stars at bay. That is the reason Malenia sought to kill her own brother (Radahn) even when he was sane, as he was to arrogant in believing what he was doing was the right thing. Radahn kept the entirety of the Lands Between in stagnation.

Godwyn killed by Ranni using a fragment of Destined Death. In the process she killed herself freeing her of her Empearyn Flesh bound by the two fingers and her life dictated by The Greater Will.
Godwyn got the worst kind of death. Ranni killed his soul yet let his body lives to grow into such horror while she destroyed her body, freeing her soul.

Godwyn the only demigod who could’ve invoked actual change and peace… only to get shanked by a girl in her rebellious god phase by some hired thugs
I think everybody collectively forgets that Ranni was not the mastermind behind the plot and that the black knives were much more than just "hired thugs," rather actual co-conspirators. Maybe I'm missing a dialogue but I don't think she even wanted (specifically) Godwyn dead. To me it seems Ranni just needed a dead demigod for her ritual and the black knives just so happened to have one in mind. Who knows what their motivations were but some theorize Marika herself ordered his assassination since they're said to be tied to her.
It's either that or he gets Miquellested. Fate was never on Godwyn's side.

Unlikely,
He befriended the dragons who were "direct" enemies with Marika's Order. This shows that he isn't completely blind and is somewhat flexible.
If he became a god, he could've possibly changed things.
@@thepieofyourlife4799 he would change things yes, but maybe not for the better. The golden order is impossible to change without making some sacrifices, without killing or destroying something. And this is something godwyn would NEVER do, he is too kind, to a fault really. He would be against any change that requires breaking a few eggs. You can't change the godlen order to the vetter by being kind and peaceful. Which is why it wad ranni's biggest obstacle, age of stars is imo a better world for the people, but it requires sacrifice like all the gods to stop ruling which would never happen. I am not defending what ranni did, but I think her ideal world is vetter thab whatever godwyn's ideal world could have been.

The radahn story and hewg refusing to leave are the first times a videogame has made me cry
He committed the awful mistake of being his parents favorite child
A common soulsborn mistake
Imo Ranni chose to kill him specifically not as revenge to Marika for snatching (or literally fucking being) Radagon from her mother and making her real depressed, but because Godwyn was the one dude keeping the Golden Order togheter. With him dead, Elden Ring shattered or intact, it would have all gone to shit.
Also Marika doesnt seem to give a shit about her children, this is also supported by her really shady quote about said children. Godwyn was the "favorite" because he was lucky enough to be born witouth any aspect of the Crucible, unlike Morgott and Mohg, who got done dirty by the universe and were straight up Omen.
There also theories suggesting that Marika allowed or supported the Night of the Black Knives because she wanted the Golden Order out of her way, and therefore needed to take out its last real supporting pillar, in a way convienient enough that it would have been blamed on Ranni only (who was the one to organize the whole thing so she definetly has the blame too).
I made that mistake in real life, those consequences don't end when you turn the game off 😢
In ranni's plan, everyone else will die either way, Godwyn just so happpened to be the first.

She did not, where does this story come from. She says it herself in her ending. She replaced the Golden Order, with a order of her own. A order of dark and night. Choosing ranni's ending is quite good for him, you'd think her ending is bad when she talks about that fear doubt and loneliness stuff, but it's actually the best ending for the lands between and him, there was a miss translation, what ranni does is she gets rid of the Elden ring, so death is no longer something you can mess with or hold in you hands, she fixes death and all other laws of nature, and she stops the meddling of outer gods, by fixing death there is no longer a state of half death or life withing death, so godwyn dies a true death and no longer suffers
@@crimsonsusanoo5634I thought she and tarnished leave the lands between at then end? I might be interpreting the ending wrong, but to me it seems like it. And if that's the case, then the lands between is doomed anyway. Without doing ranni's ending, we already fixed the lands between by unleashing the rune of death ourselves.
I think us being the lord of the land would of been a better ending because we ourselves are not affected by the influence of any outer gods. Ranni herself, I believe, have her own order, and who's to say it is better than the golden order? What she said about her new order despite it being totally the opposite of the golden order, was that it is quite hollow and depressing. What I know of golden order, is it's not exactly bad, it's just that it was incredibly oppressive to certain race and species. It was, until the rune of death and the shattering happened. That was also because of the doing of Marika being a bitch that she is. Also to be fair we don't exactly knows what actually pushed her to do what she did.

Goldmask is a fundamentalist. He believes that the Greater Will is perfect, and should exert control over the lands between directly. He believes Radagon and Marika should be discarded since they cannot be trusted to enact the will of the Golden Order.
Lunar Princess Ranni wanted to end the association with the Greater Will, and so crafted the knives used by the black knife assassins. She was herself killed by these knives. This was to prevent herself from merely becoming another embodiment of the greater will.
Contrary to what everyone is saying, we do not know that the Moon is an outer god, but it's power is significant enough to banish the Greater Will.
I wonder if as the empyrean chosen to succeed Marika, Ranni was to be married off to Godwyn. That would explain why he was the main target of the Night of Black Knives.
Everyone going "Everything is her fault" brother they were living in a world without death, that's not as nice as it sounds.
Don't act like she made things better in any way shape or form. Her ending just changes the shackles. She's a spoiled, horrible person who indirectly murdered Godwyn

INCLUDING her innocent brother she put down like a dog and left to suffer without a soul. You wanna fix the problems with the land between? Go with Goldmask
But remember, her father Radagon left her mother to become Marika's husband because the 2 fingers told him too. Rennala was devastated! Ranni loves her mother and resents Marika, her father and the 2 fingers. Then she is told Marika is unfit to rule and now she is a candidate. She probably blames Marika for her mother's grief and wants to screw over the 2 Fingers, so she decides to take the ONLY child of Marika not cursed. So basically the Lands Between is caught up in a messed up step family matter.
She could have honestly sent the assassins for Marika or Radagon
and now I wonder would Radagon also die if Marika got killed? And the other way around?
Anyway she probably killed Godwyn not because he was the one child Marika didn't hate (hell some people say she was involved in that whole plot) but probably because he was the one keeping the Golden Order togheter, being a peaceful dude, an heir to the throne and a beloved figure.

@@Potato_Tomato-od2lzgodwyn led the charge against gransax so he helped defeat him
Yeah, Godwyn would most definitely have to die, so the Greater Will's control of the Lands Between could be severed. Who knows, we might have been the ones who will kill him if Miyazaki and George didn't decide to kill him off before the events of the game
potentially not the firstborn anymore
Marika never wanted Godwyn to die lol, on the contrary, the reason why she destroyed the Elden ring was out of spite because they killed her own children.
Its also the fact that she somehow knew how to use Death on two people to get the best outcome for HERSELF. Taking on one half literally ruined Godwyn and it sucks to know he's just a zombie with no possibility for him to ever come back in any way now. Poor miquella is gonna be heartbroken when we see him in dreamland and he finds out what happened... unless Godwyn is cool and the lore retcons itself :)

@@Mega2chan "Interfering" what do the outer gods get from "interfering" it seems that each gives their own form of "blessing" to the lands between. It was Marika who ruined the golden order, removing the rune of death, persecuting the omen and the crucible. And small people. And every other thing she didn't like for one reason or the other. After death becomes rot, without death you live in rot. Elden ring represents order and Marika tampered with it almost instantly making it basically disorder. Dooming it to fail. Goldmask Ending best ending.
@@lj1021 The goldmask ending makes a “perfected” golden order the elden ring, and then protects it from ever being changed again. You’re also blocking off any outer god interference, just like in Ranni’s ending, so if you think the outer gods are a blessing to the lands between, you surely shouldn’t have picked that ending.
@@Mega2chan You just made that up. "The current imperfections of the golden order can be blamed upon the fickleness of the gods no better than men" ->Marika. Frenzied flame is a response to the despair that Marika created. Rot is a working part of order and so is death. In Marikas order they had to try and keep rot away. And they failed. Same with death=Those who live in death. In perfect order rot and death needs to exist and they will since you cant block out their influence completely anyway. These outer gods can work perfectly in harmony. Ranni just does not want the burden of being a god. Just like her father/Mother wanted to be freed from it. Rannis ending in my oppinion is just running away from responsibility no matter what it costs and who she has to betray.
If I have 1 question to ask Ranni, it's probably "Why Godwyn?"
Like bitch what about godrick, nobody would have missed him 😂
Yeah! Why not Mohg or fucking Godrick!? Why Assassinate the man who was loved by literally EVERYTHING!?!
Coz he is the ONLY one powerful enough to put a complete stop to the age of stars.
Even radhan was only able to halt the stars, not completely cut them off from the lands between 😳
Cuz he was the child marika cared most for so killing him caused the greatest effect on her, leading to her world literally falling apart. When your first and favorite child dies the motivation to keep your dynasty afloat goes out the window(at least that’s my interpretation) Ending Marika’s dynasty would enable people to have their own fate, no longer entangled with the will of gods, ya we will die permanently, but we will also live OUR life. Killing an innocent man, who’s probably the best character morally, is the price she was willing to pay to achieve that fate in the end.
Tell me, who else could the black knives kill? Radagon? Malika? Radahn? Godwyn was weaker and the most kind, meaning he would be against atrocities for a better world. He would be a slave of the golden order
