When I played I didn't really use the jab to get my defender to react, I used it to get in rhythm. Once your defender gets used to you they don't bite on the jab, but it's still a good way to get your timing down and set your rhythm for a jumper. The pump fake after the jab is the deadliest old school move, especially mid post, like Kevin McHale (up and under deeper post) . Would love to see you use/ teach that. Good video.
Great video! My problem is that I don't use this move enough. Thank you so much for reminding me. It's so easy to get caught up in fancy dribbling when you don't have too.
I like to use the jab step in conjunction with a screen. If you time it right, many times it will influence a hedge or freeze the switch leaving you WIDE open for the jumper.
I totally agree with this. You don't need to go full melo, but especially if my defender is closing out, a really quick jab could give me enough space for a shot or an open lane to the rim. Worst case scenario the defender plays and you pass out or try to set something else up
Great video! As a shooting guard I use the jab step sometimes, but I'm most of a shakin' and make 'em dance player... But in a real game you sholud never be too selfish with the ball, so the catch-jab-shoot or blow by is the way to go... Maybe you can pump fake out of it then give a long buncy pass low to the running teammate. As you said. Tons of ways to use this. So use it guys ;)
First time I see so many travelling moves in one instructional video. The rules of basketball must have changed a lot in the last 5 or so years of compared to the initial 120 years since its inception ;)
As I got older I found that doing a cross over followed by a step back really helps me to create space. For example, if I go right and push off with my left foot ... staying low with legs far apart ... it forces or fools the defender to go back .. that's when you cross back followed by a step back to create even more space ... works like a charm ... as you get older you start to lose your first step so this works well for me.
Good video! Definitely adding it to my arsenal. It's such an underrated move because a lot of players now love to do shake and bake moves that this move never gets to be used to it's full potential
You are right about getting the shot open and even blowing by your defender with the jab step..the way I do it is that I would jab one way and if they bite, I am going the opposite way either laying it up or step back 3 pointer, since you know hmm I am a 3 point shooter 😉 great tutorial though, I see you are slowly getting back to hooping 🏀❤️
i literally how no idea how to play basketball and I impulsively joined a basketball match and I have it tomorrow so I am here trying to learn stuff not to drag my teammates hha thank u so much
I like that jab step into a dribble pump fake(bring your off hand towards the ball and put the ball on the ground rather than catching it) and attack the close out try it it works every time
Is think the spin is SOOO underrated, on a fast break after a steal they usually pressure up to much on one side, I just spin and usually get a open lane for a dunk

This is actually really helpful, I'm actually gonna try this. I use another move as well. Thanks for the tips Rachel 👍👏
Notice how she doesn't respond to comments anymore?
Julian Perez because everyone is being a fucking pervert
Probably business
@@justahumanbeing9839 exactly lol
darwin uwu ya
I feel bad for her. All these weirdo pervs trying to marry her and they’ve never even met her. If it was me I would turn comments off :/
You’re so good this helped a lot :) but do you have any tips to get on varsity/ a team? ( like preparing or something?)

I always teach my young players about the value of reverse pivots.
Definitely going to use this
Thanks for this

I'm new to hoops and this is awesome!!

These are not travels
I am a simple man: I see a gal with B-ball, I watch
The Professor use this a lot. Very effective. Thanks Rachel
One simple cool little video and now boom I'm in love😍🤦🏾♂️
And that lil "my hands are dirty" and lil laugh was so cute tho🤦🏾♂️

I need to learn more moves, but doing it while falling in love every time I watch a video is just what I needed :P
Super useful move, thanks !
Thanks for watching!!! :) ....hands are dirty though hahahaha ...always willing to do anything for us

When is the merch coming out Rachel?
She traveled all the way to my heart

Nice shooting...creating space...
Great tutorial video rachel! 😘
Wow so nice to look at!
Simplicity is Beautiful :*
I LOVE YOUUUU
only thing sicker than the moves was the Fit, I see you Rad!
I like your fundamental skill set:)
Next Video, Up and under Layup 👌🏽🏀
Thanks nobody explained this after you are in the pivot do you step or bounce first
I use the jab step as a fake out. It works pretty much all the time
From snap and the jab step tutorial was very helpful
Really, this move works best if you have a quick first step, otherwise a good defender will block/cut off your path to the basket.
youre amazing!!!
do you always pivot with your inside foot? I've always wondered why people give up their inside step and make their first step an outside one.

I actually like this, something I didn't know
@Slim Reaper I mean, my comment says “I didn’t know” but it’s you’re guess
When I do a jab step I just snatch back a pull a 3
Thanks !
Thank you coach RAD!
Let me try this trick.
Omg this worked thank you I scored 75 points my game
75 points??? Is that even possible for a not nba player?
Yobun22 yes, he scored 75 pts on a pickup game with in LA fitness
@@adriansalinas7026 .... those games only go to 16.... by 1s
@@earlyburd78 That was the joke...
@@kevinoppenheimer9367 ... I have a thing where I respond to sarcasm w my own brand of it.
great video keep it up
That's great I got 2 try that!
What should a beginner were to tryouts??
Thanks for this
Idol ♥♥
Those little jab moves and whatnot are really effective. You don't have to be the fastest, it's all about getting your opponent off balance.
😍😍😍😍 dope vid
Thanks Rad. From Turkey 🇹🇷🏃♂️
Lessskoooo dennnn👍
Another simple move that is under rated... the pump fake! Keep it simple 💯
Get that stutter jab step that gets them every time
I like that jab step into a dribble pump fake(bring your off hand towards the ball and put the ball on the ground rather than catching it) and attack the close out try it it works every time
Nice moves 💪
Super dope video
I appreciate the video 😊👍
BASKETBALL AND ROLLERSKATING!!!!!!!!!!!
I use the jab step to create room to shoot or to blow by a defender
Rachel is a straight baller!
she is absolutely gorgeous here tho daaaaang
I barely got past her eyes and smile. Holy goodness gracious...
That’s tuff
Guaapoh 😂😂
You're the GOAT 💪
You should do more basketball videos.
thank you for this video :D
Wasn't expecting the jab step as the arsenal to have 😅
Great video
Is think the spin is SOOO underrated, on a fast break after a steal they usually pressure up to much on one side, I just spin and usually get a open lane for a dunk
If you can’t dunk than you have to be comfortable with off-hand layups you also have to be fast
Knowledge
Omg Rachel you gotta teach me how to box out sometime ;)
Love it 😊😘 we should workout one day when your not so busy, clear some time for me 😏
Fun fact: this is also an overpowered move in 2K18.
No it's not it sucks
okay you forget to mention i need legs. like lot of legs
Very cuuul butiful basketdball
Good vid coach rachel
