The locations visited on this tour are:

2) The Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary and Cemetary which plays the exterior of Slumber Mortuary, where James Bond and the gangsters drive up.
3) The Skinny Bridge in Amsterdam, which is seen on the river tour when the tourists witness Mrs.Whister's body being fished out of the Amstel.
4) The exterior of Tiffany Case's Amsterdam apartment.
5) The Palm Downtown Mortuary and Cemetary in North Las Vegas, which plays the Garden of Remembrance where James Bond falls into a trap set by Mr.Kidd and Mr.Wint.
6) The Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, which was formerly the International Hotel and played the exterior of the "Whyte House" Hotel and Casino, SPECTRE's headquarters.
7) The PABCO Gypsum Plant on the outskirts of Las Vegas, which plays SPECTRE's Techtronics Missile Laboratories.
8) The desert along Highway 147, where the Moon Buggy chase takes place.

Was 13 years old when we were in Las Vegas in 1970 when they actually filmed 💎 Diamonds. We were actually standing in back of the cameras at Circus Circus when Tanya the 🐘 elephant pulls the big slot machine. What a thrill to have been actually been there to see it film in person.
That is very cool!!
The dealer on the crap game where Bond is playing, who is verbalizing the game as the dice are rolled? A personal friend's father- EJ Young ! A legend in his own mind. (lol) Long time crap dealer at the Tropicana, (50's 60's 70's) which was a top crap dealing jobs during those years.
Absolutely incredible… my favourite Bond film.
Nope. The cast and crew was in Las Vegas for less than a month, and that was in the spring of 1971. The other "Vegas" locations were filmed in Southern Nevada and Palm Springs, California.
I had my 8th Grade graduation party at a classmate/friend's house, the legendary home and location of the meeting of Bond with Bambi & Thumper.
I tried to go for this video but got turned away by grumpy security guards!
Thanks for that. Years ago my sons and I lived in Henderson for several years and we used to "Bond", many nights watching all the films. Never realized the funeral home was in Henderson so close to our home. "Bitten by the Bug" was said so many times by my boys it drove me crazy but I sure miss our "male Bonding time now."
Awesome, I love hearing these stories!
As a huge Bond fan, this is exactly what I was looking for, when the random urge to see DAF filming locations hit me!
You did a great job making, editing and narrating this video. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
One of the BEST on-location clips. ever.
Gee, thanks! It was a blast.
Took a shot, didn't even think there would be a comparable video of then and now. Thanks for your effort, really enjoyed it.
Exceptional job folks! I was expecting this to just include Las Vegas, but the effort of incorporating two continents into this video is fantastic. It's a real eye opener of urban sprawl of "Slumber Mortuary" then, and the site as it looks 50 years on. WOW!
Great video - really enjoyed seeing the then and now. Very informative - thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great filming locations video. Very well done. Thanks for your efforts, PK.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You did a great job of showing the film vs. current conditions. I remember swimming in the pool of the "Mint" that was located at the top of the hotel back in the 70's. It was 120F at the time. Thank you!
Excellent video! The strip upgrade over the years was a good thing the upgrade to Fremont IMO was not. In the 90's it was the last old school in Vegas. It became a tourist Disney, buy this, see this, listen to this, loud in your face experience. Sometimes change and improvements are not a good idea. Vegas is the King of tearing down and erasing history. At least there are still some old school casinos left.
I agree with you. I was kind of sad that they took down the resort that the Seigfried and Roy secret garden was in... What was the name of that resort? I can't remember. It had a cool tropical atmosphere.
The International hotel was open earlier than 1971. When Kerkorian owned it Elvis was headlining there in 1968-1970 when I went to high school then.
I stand corrected.
It was a race between Howard Hughes owner of the Landmark, and Kerkorian owner of the International of who would open first on January 1st 1969.....
Elvis #1
Enjoyed this so much.......It is so great to see that some of these locations are still somewhat similar....(although I wish they had never changed). The USA was such an incredible country of opportunity back then......
Who is the author? I’m curious!
This brings back memories of youth. Thanks for posting
Great video, so thorough and well put together. I'm a massive Bond fan, heading to Vegas for the first time later this year. This video is the only tour guide I need - thank you for posting!
Amazing! Have fun 🤩
Love the glimpse of Biff's Hotel in Back to the Future in Vegas!
hahaha I always have the same thought in my head. Iconic.
Great video and really nice editing for the overlays. I've watched the movie so many times and have lived in Las Vegas and just assumed mostly everything was gone or covered over especially around The Mint.
Good work, very interesting. Never knew the taller W.W. building was a matte, good SFX for the time. Shame it's all changed, seems over commercialised now, but that's the price of progress. Greetings from the U.K. !
I was attending Las Vegas High School in 1971, in downtown Las Vegas. During the day they rehearsed the downtown chase scene and cars were racing around during classes. We had no idea what movie was being filmed.
what's your name? I was a sophomore for the 70-71 school year at Valley.
Just watched this in a Vegas hotel and as a big Bond fan it was great - well done, it was really good.
Nice! Hope you get to check out some of the locations. The garden of remembrance and Westgate are the closest ones to downtown. You can find links to google maps in the description!
I couldn't believe that the skyscraper at the back of the Whyte House was a digital add in when I found out about it. The effect is really good and holds up pretty well.
Especially the moving elevator
GREETINS FROM INDIA..WATCHED ATLEAST 300 TIMES THE MOVIE..THIS MOVIE FOR ME IS PINNACLE OF BOND MOVIES..THIS BLOG OF YOURS IS LIKE SOMETHING TO CHERISH..GREAT EFFORT OF YOURS❤..LOVE THOSE 70S...MUCH APPRECIATE DEAR.
I forgot to mention that this is an excellent video.
In 1984 I stayed at the Landmark Hotel which was later demolished. There is a brief shot of this tower in the background when Tiffany is at the gas station. I believe exteriors of the Landmark Hotel were used when Bond rode the exterior elevator to the top of ‘The Whyte House’ and the roof top sequence. They used footage of the Landmark being demolished in Tim Burton’s film ‘Mars Attacks’.
The 'Landmark' Hotel Casino was an interesting story. The tower was erected completely, although not finished, in 1962, yet the place did not open it's doors for business until '69.
Should be more upvotes - this is really good!
Excellent and detailed work !So nice to see the differences in the locations between 1971 and now. Many things have changed but the basic idea remains the same !
Many thanks!
Great video. The "dead end" alley he ducked into is still behind the 4 Queens.
Same alley that was used in the Night Stalker made for TV movie in '72.
Thank you for doing this interesting tour
Awesome! Thank you...!
Circus Circus is another location that is almost identical to when they filmed in 1971
Stayed at the Circus Circus in 1975. As a kid I thought it was great ! I believe it’s a dump now
The off shore oil drilling platform at the end of this movie was an elaborate set built off the coast of San Onofre California. It was visible from San Clemente and the 5 freeway.
Nice video! I'm heading to Vegas next year so will be keen to check out those locations!
Oh, and would you happen to have a drop pin address for the gypsum plant? :)
This is so well done
1:13: I always thought the choice of this particular mortuary in Henderson as a location for Diamonds are Forever was pretty clever because the distinctive chapel window is shaped like a diamond.
Fantastic video
Thanks for a well researched video. You put in a lot of effort.
DAF remains my favorite Bond movie for sentimental reasons.
Diamonds Are Forever is the first James Bond film I ever saw. I was 12 years old at the time. I didn't actually make it to Las Vegas until 1993.
Fantastic Documentary! THANK YOU.
Thanks!
Awesome video 👍
Hey, thanks for showing the mausoleum where my grandparents are interred, and their actual crypts. They are the 2 near the front, fourth row up, with the 2 bouquets of roses I put there.
I love that, thanks for sharing!
well done friend, one of my favorite bond movies
Yeah, Yeah..... Keep Making Vlogs! Too good! We Love You!
Thank you! Will do!
Thanks!
Great video!! I made a point to gas up at the Shell station that is now an Arco before heading back home from Fabulous Las Vegas - I didn't need the high test gas though 😅
That is awesome!
Very fraking cool!
I was in Vegas last week to watch them bring down the Tropicana Towers. Another bit of history wiped off the face of the map. It's going to be a stadium now.
Always thought it was a neat touch with that unique window was the shape of a diamond at slumber inc
Brilliant - Thank You. My all time favourite bond film
Great job man! :) PLease do also about “The man with the golden gun” !!!
Famous stuntman and driving show Entertainer Buzz Bundy drove the car on two wheels through the alleyway in the film. He did shows all over America and I saw him live at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts when I was a kid in the 1970s. He drove the entire quarter mile race track on two wheels 😃😃
I can't quite remember how it came about, but the car goes into the alleyway tilting to right, but the pickup shot has it emerge with the tilt reversed.
As far as filming location videos, this one here is about a 3 or 4 out of 10.
Great job. Enjoyed this. Thanks
love this , well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Yikes...! Well done...!
Thanks!
Great jobs, thanks.
Great video! I’ve done this same tour, for the same reason, but just a nickel version of it. I’ve stayed at the Westgate several times, and I know the owners. Anyway, did you catch the mistake with the Mustang going thru the alley, on its side? It’s goes in on the left wheels, but comes out on the right! 😂 (or vice-Versa!)
Thanks again for your video! I’m a huge Diamonds are Forever fan! My ex-wife used to sing that song with my band! We did a jazz ‘Bond’ show!
I met Sean Connery in 2003 at beverly hills.
Well done!
Thank you, that was great
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good job!
There's a blooper in the chase scene that some people might not catch. When the Mustang goes between the buildings it's on the passenger wheels down. When it comes out from between the buildings it's drivers side down. And the last time I checked Universal Studios is not in Burbank, CA.
Thanks big Bond fan
Me too!
Excellent
3:30: The Amsterdam scenes were last to be filmed, in September 1971, just three months before this movie was released. 7:38: Critics round on DAF for shoddy effects ( its "explosions"), but The Whyte House matte is excellent!
Its a shame your friend didn't go in the 3rd floor apartment of Tiffany Case in Amsterdam - apparently the interiors were shot there and I thought it was all shot in Pinewood Studios.
that union plaze looks Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise from back to the buff plaza back to the future
Thanks for this. Shame about the Tropicana. Not much of those actual locations are left now.
Why didn't you drive out Lake Mead Drive and show where they filmed out there when the water line from Lake Mead was under construction? There are places where the pipes are above ground and it's very clear where they filmed. Also, the bad guys house was filmed at the base of the Calico Hills. That would have made a great then/now comparison. Both of these were just up the street when you were at the cemetery.
Great movie
The Riviera also substituted for The Tangiers hotel in Casino (1995).
Good video 👍 why no more uploads ?!
It's been busy with a big move to Montreal! There are some more videos that were shot before I left Los Angeles in the pipeline, Se7en and Blade Runner filming locations, that will be coming soon!
just discovered this channel, good stuff. no more new content?
Hi, new content is in the pipeline (Se7en and Blade Runner filming locations), but right now I'm working on the Nerdiest Prime channel, which you can check out if you're a Star Trek fan! @nerdiestprime 🖖🏼
The Westgate used to be the Hilton....that sign used to say Star Trek The Experience. Was housed inside One of the old signs is still attached to the part that was the experience.
That amazing! Thanks for the info
Excellent video. You've earned a like and subscribe from me!
Awesome, thank you!
When the car enters the alley, it’s on its left two wheels. When it emerges, it’s on its two right wheels.
Didn't mention Circus Circus Casino.
I thought they were in Japan but they were out of Japan so they decided to go to Las Vegas and live there?
There was a scene where bond drives past the Flamingo and the hotel where the Bellagio is right now.
Well as soon as you disrespected LV (saying it was dirty, etc)from the 70s. I was done. You were never there then and judging from your age I would suggest you not sit in Judgement. LV has gone downhill these days. Bottom line Las Vegas was far better then than now. I did “like” your video though
Willard Whyte speaking
James Bond is forever
The new Golden Nugget is such a disappointment especially the sign.
The "triangle shape" is an upside down diamond
I thought they filmed it at the Wynn???????
The Wynn was constructed until decades later.
You didn’t mention the fact when he went in on 2 wheels that he exited on the other 2 wheels
Who would have guessed all that surrounding empty property would be worth millions.
@4mins into this video is not actually Sean Connery but a stand in driver......Sean Connery first appears when he goes to Tiffany's apartment.
Read that Sean Connery went out with both Jill St John and Lana Wood.
This one of favourite Bond movies I was surprised to see Sid Haig in this movie he's also famous for the devils rejects, 3 from hell and house of a 1,000 corpses he was the thug in the hearse that said I had a brother once and bond replied small world the 68 caddy hearse looked really cool miller-meteore if im correct the mustang mach 1 looked awesome too
Just been reminded (as I am with every viewing of the movie) that the movie is rather different from the book…
I think it looks like the karate chop was closer to the stained glass. Just thinkin
💎💎💎💎
The goofball with the glasses and Captain Kangaroo haircut?
Didn’t they also get a room at Circus Circus for the night and have sexy time?
Elrod House, John Lautner architect.
It is fun to see old Las Vegas in this bond movie, sadly the film itself is among the worst bond movies ever. An out of shape and aged Connery who looks bored thoughtout the film cannot save it.
All that graffiti on those signs, smh.
Nice, but it’s pronounced Nevada, not Nuhvahduh.
It’s my Canadian accent.
y
Please stop spinning your camera around so much. It nearly makes me dizzy! I like that you show these locations, though. Diamonds are Forever is my favorite Sean Connery - James Bond movie👍😊
