I still remember Legends of Chima Online and it being fun. I thought that the combat style of clicking everywhere was similar to Club Penguin of all things because I never knew what Dungeon Crawlers were. Being able to create your own loadout and unique character got me invested in the game, and I was pretty disappointed when it eventually shutdown. I have a feeling though that, if it didn't shut down because of low revenue, it would've been shut down anyway when the Chima line as a whole, so including the cartoon and Lego sets, they would've probably shut down Chima Online then to keep everything in line.

Lego Minifigures was so much fun to play when it was free in their beta, but as soon as the game released to be pay-to-play only, you know no one wanted to do that. I'm honestly surprised it lasted more than a year (June 2015 when it went pay-to-play, September 2016 when it shut down).
I remember playing Lego Dimensions in 4th and 5th grade and it was such a fun experience. I think the game drastically failed when the second wave of figures came out. Also the figurative pay wall ruined the game as well.
I loved Lego Universe, It was such a well built game and so much adventure but after the shutdown I ended up playing Lego Chima and that was also an amazing game then that was shutdown and finally I played Lego Minifigures, and it was an alright game but there was too many bundles then that shutdown. There's also the fact that since _Lego Universe_ was the first foray by LEGO into the MMO Market, they had their expectations set too high, thinking that they would be getting some *Immediate Returns* on their investments like they had done in the past with TT Games titles. However, MMOs are more of a *Slow Burn* when it comes to making money, with the process being akin to leveling up a Magikarp into a Gyarados. Just look at _World of Warcraft:_ nearly 20 years later and it's coming back strong with its' newest expansion Dragonflight, along with incorporating new features and gameplay options that weren't available when the game was originally made. I don’t care what anybody says, LEGO dimensions is by far (in my opinion) THE BEST LEGO game. Despite having to pay for the characters, it just felt so good to be coming home with a brand new box of characters and items/vehicles to set up and play. And for me the novelty never wears off! I can still look at all the amazing exclusive mini figs and builds and think, “damn that’s cool” I mean we got freaking Portal, A-team, knight rider, powderpuff girls, SONIC THE GODAMN HEDGEHOG, adventure time, Ghostbuster, BEETLEJUICE! (one of my favourites in LEGO form and is not to mention a bit mature for a LEGO game and figure) and so many more franchises that we could’ve used to only hope for... it’s just a shame that they didn't do more with these cool licences. Also if it had continued we Would’ve got many dreamworks licences such as shrek, how to train your dragon and captain underpants (my childhood hero). To be honest if I had the chance I would 100% bring LEGO dimensions back and buy literally every single one.
I'm trying to find all of the game chips so I can play mine I again. Any recommendations where I can find the level packs, character packs, and fun packs online and physically
@@BurntTM well I guess it mainly depends on where you live, most places you should be able to get it off amazon, ebay or online shopping sites of sorts. If you're an aussie like myself, then JB-HI-FI is a great place to start, they still sell some of the skylanders and the shops I've been to have had some packs such as buttercup from P.P.G and the Goonies level pack. I should probably try to pick those ones up for myself, but once again JB-HI-FI is good, Big W is also a great place to check, I remember they had the sonic level pack for quite a while after dimensions went out of style (the second I went to buy it, it got sold though). But if you're from another country, then I'm unsure if you have those types of stores, so i guess online shopping is your best bet, but it's always good to check stores that you know have had them in the past. I wish you the best of luck in finding them. I just wish they hadn't discontinued LEGO Dimensions, It's a shame that all of those future packs just went to waste.
I used to play LEGO Universe with my dad and I loved it! I was so sad when it got ended, I have so many good memories with that game. I had no idea why it was getting taken down because I was in elementary school but looking at it now I guess they made the best decision, doesn’t mean I won’t miss it.
Strider, thank you for producing videos. A teacher at my school passed away yesterday and your videos are helping me take my mind off of what happened at school today
It’s been a long time playing on LEGO Dimensions. I really enjoyed having the Doctor who, Ghostbusters and the BTFF sets. My biggest gripe is the the LEGO gameplay not measuring up to my expectations. I wanted to do more in re-enacting scenes from Ghostbusters and BTTF. The Doctor Who segments though was wonderful with the ability to go through 3 different time zones and visiting various locals from recent Doctor Who memory.
Sometimes, when I need cheering up, I put on the Lego Universe theme song. One time, when I was visiting a Lego theme park several years later, I realised they'd re-used the theme song as (one of) the musical pieces they'd have at the parks opening plaza. It was like a stab in the heart of nostalgia. It's a true shame what happened to it. I can't in good faith say it was some 10/10, game of the century masterpiece, but it definitely didn't deserve its fate. It was a damn good game.
Strider!!!!! What's up my friend 😂 I love lego man. My favorite has got to be lego DC villains. So when is your best cartoons of all time list coming out dude? I'd love to know your opinion on which is better, Steven Universe, Invader Zim, or Star atfoe I bet those honorable mentions will be jam packed, but no matter what you pick, I'm with you man. Take care my dude 😘
I grew up on both Skylanders and LEGO Dimensions, and you better believe that those figurines and sets were in a massive pile every year at my birthday or Christmas, and I enjoyed both Toys-to-Life games thoroughly. In fact, I still play both games today. I just wish both franchises would have been able to keep the ball rolling. Since the fourth game, Trap Team, Skylanders had a large, consistent cast of diverse characters to use and fight against, and by the last Skylanders game, we even had crossovers from Nintendo and Crash Bandicoot. In terms of LEGO Dimensions, it seems they could have just kept adding more content as they went, adding more universes in new “waves,” as if the heroes found more shards of Vorton. But, maybe this is how things should be. You were fun while it lasted, Toys to Life. You can rest easy.
Let's see what happens. If innovative titles like *Jump Ultimate Stars* can give their rivals (ie Street Fighter, Smash Bros) some competiton, perhaps the next single-player saga or MMO will learn from the mistakes of its predecessors and deliver experiences that will stand the test of time (with or without 'dongles'). Hope springs eternal.
My brother and I used to play Lego Dimensions all the time, and I LOVED it! He got the starter set for his birthday with about 8 figures and we managed fine with just that. We always got stuck on the Simpson’s level though 😕
I'm making a list of francises and characters I want for if LEGO Dimensions came back (without the "toys to life" feature) with a sequel. I really hope it comes back.

I really loved the game, I had fun adventuring, and I am glad that someone decided to bring back the magic. Maybe now I can get the cape I didn't have the chance to get.
I was actually an early access player of Lego Worlds. I really got into it because I remembered the level building feature that used to be in Lego Games, and thought it'd be awesome to have another, deeper way of participating in creating. Lego Worlds was arguably better in early access. Back then, it was just a sandbox and you'd just... find and unlock stuff. That's not to say the final release had less content or was objectively worse, but when the final release did happen and I learned what direction the game was going in, I would have preferred to just not have spent money on the game. My only plus side was I got to own the game for just fourteen dollars as an early access player, so that's nice. The reasons why I believe it failed is in part due to just how little you can actually do in the infinite world. Roblox supported heavy scripting, Minecraft supported complex redstone mechanisms and had a very deep and interesting base game. Lego Worlds didn't even had a level of depth that compared to the level builder of Lego Indiana Jones 2, which is a statement that I, disappointingly, am confident in saying. All it had going for it was no practical build limit and probably some dungeons to explore, but the game was never challenging enough to me to be interesting. It didn't even need to be that challenging, but it's too easy to just dig through to the end of a dungeon and just take the rewards, and there were never any interesting enemies that didn't easily get taken out with the one-two punch.
I consider it one of the world's greatest tragedies at how Lego Dimensions fell short. It was an amazing game, and after having played it again just recently, you can tell that each franchise it brought to the table was treated with the utmost respect. Be it hiring as many of the original actors to reprise their roles in the game as possible, crafting real life sets for every set piece in the game so they know how to program it in the game, and creating an amazingly imaginative narrative that tied this lucrative crossover together, Lego Dimensions was a far superior product to the other toy-to-life products at the time, even compared to Skylanders. And did I mention that the game literally stops you in your tracks and forces you to actually play with the physical Lego sets provided? That was such an ingenious way to immerse yourself into the game, and it causes you to be proud of the work you yourself accomplished when you see the figures and sets YOU built spring to life on the screen. If a Lego Dimensions 2 ever gets created, you know I will board that ship before you can even say "Shut up and take my money."
I hate it when people ruin it for others. Those are the people who I wish got what they deserve and then some due to ruining a GREAT game like Lego Universe.
I used to want to play Lego universe so badly as a kid but I didn't have a working computer. Glad to see its still alive in a way. And a small note, the camera style you talked about in the Minifigures game is specifically isometric, where it's above at a directly diagonal angle.

I remember first hearing about how Valve helped work with LEGO Dimensions and I was excited, thinking we'd get LEGO Half-Life, Portal, maybe even LEGO Team Fortress 2, but, it ended up just being Portal. Still one of my favorite LEGO products to date though!

My personal pros and cons of LEGO worlds:
Pros:
really cool to explore all the biomes
Fun to expand your inventory
Has a mildly nostalgic vibe to it
Soundtrack is good
Cons:
Hard to build
Sometimes repetitive
Soundtrack will get stuck in your head for the rest of your life.
I absolutly agree, Lego Dimensions is also my favorite Lego game.
Lego Dimensions is the only reason I still play my Xbox 360

I’m early so I gotta say something funny...ummm

The fact that there's enough abandoned Lego games to make a top five list tells a lot. Never forget Lego Universe.
The thumbnail has changed like 5 times lol
Abandoned? More like people lost a part of there childhood
I love LEGO Dimensions. And I think that they should make a remake that isn’t a toys-to-life game.
lego minifigures online are in some of my oldest memories, rip.

I used to want to play Lego universe so badly as a kid but I didn't have a working computer. Glad to see its still alive in a way.
And a small note, the camera style you talked about in the Minifigures game is specifically isometric, where it's above at a directly diagonal angle.
