Teslas first cars cost $100,000. It is simply more expensive because the entire production process has to be established. Once established and large-scale, prices of all electric cars will drop
Nothing will boost the sales in the Netherlands of Model Y (base price €49,990) more, than the price tag of Polestar 3 (base price €88,600). Volvo guys are you ok?
Tesla Y is a great value, but Polestar is built for people who want superior brakes, suspension, thermal management, chassis calibration, design and overall build quality. With third party chargers popping up everywhere, Tesla’s better mi/kWh efficiency and supercharge network are starting to become less of major selling point.
As an extremely satisfied Tesla owner, and lover of tech, and being Swedish, this was a great announcement! I for one think the price is fine for that class of car. The prices will come down.
Constructive criticism for a superb vehicle, for Polestar execs: I agree with Jonny Smith's review (posted today) that this looks like a revision of the Cross Country wagon -- and in a good way, not a bad way. As Jonny notes, this is only 10 mm higher than an XC70 wagon. (Full disclosure: I have owned a Cross Country wagon for 21 years and still enjoy it.) So while there is no large window here behind the C pillar (a trait of most station wagons and full-size SUVs), this might be considered a good definition of "crossover". But as a lifted-wagon fan, and not an SUV fan, this passes muster for me with flying colors. I will be strongly considering this as my first BEV in a couple of years, with the main competition foreseeable right now being the Polestar 4, Macan BEV, and Cayenne PHEV in 2024. This would win hands-down if not for the two computer screens, which weigh heavily against it, and the lack of buttons/dials that are much safer and more practical for drivers to use for operating phone, audio, and climate while driving (and don't give me this "but it has voice controls" crap as rationale to do away with physical buttons and dials). I like the map on the tiny, cheap, unshielded Mach-E-type "instrument" panel, but that screen looks like something you'd find in a $20k USD car, not a $90k car. And why go for a vertical "iPad glued to dashboard", cheap-looking infotainment screen if you're trying to emulate Cayenne? Tesla does it not because it's good but because they're cheap and horrible on design; same with Ford. At this price point, you should be trying to emulate Porsche's interior, not Tesla's or Ford's or VW's interiors. Anyway, the rest of this car looks great, but I wish you would make the following things standard to save weight and cost/price (and in some cases increase range, too): (1) all-metal roof; (2) 19-inch wheels; (3) no air suspension; (4) mirrors that aren't automatically dimming; (5) standard, non-electric door handles as in Polestar 2; (6) two-zone climate (front seat only); (7) no wireless charging; (8) base Volvo music system (not Bowers & Wilkins); (9) no heated rear seats; (10) no soft-close doors. Make glass roof, 21-inch wheels, air suspension, wireless charging, Bower & Wilkins, heated rear seats, soft-close doors, 3-zone climate system, electronic/recessed door handles, auto-dimming mirrors all paid-option items; heck put them all in a single "premium" package and charge $85k-$90k for that. But if you remove these ten standard items, none of which I need or want, I'll bet you could reduce the cost/MSRP of the Polestar 3 to $65k-$75k, which would sell a lot more cars, and here in the US we'd actually get the $7500 tax credit (which we don't if it's > $80k MSRP). Things missing that I'd really like to see: (1) spare wheel/tire in the frunk, at least as an option; (2) infrared camera with on-screen display in the cabin as an option that enhances safety (I've ordered this in my Porsches, and it helps to see pedestrians and animals at night, as well as any object in dense fog); (3) electrochromic glass if you must have a pano roof, with the ability to make it opaque (not just translucent). None of this would take much to change what you have now (except more space in the frunk for a spare wheel/tire). You're oh-so-close to a really almost-perfect BEV here! (Also, please remove that lettering on the doors, front-sensor panel, and front seatbacks, which no customer wants; it's really tacky. Not sure what the thinking was there... It's like blueprint diagrams where somebody forgot to remove the labels in production.)
One question in regards to the range. Your slide said 610km or 300 miles range but 300 miles are only 482.8km (or 555.6km if you meant nautical miles) so which of the two ranges is it?
@@skirata3144 EPA is used in the US and WLTP is often used in Europe, so they're speaking pretty much to different parts of the world, saving me time wondering what the EPA range will be like in miles since I live in the US.
Taking into account that the consuption of the car should be between 19kw and 26kw every 100kms, and with a battery of 110 kw... it should do 400 km to 500 kms realistic.

Hi! Polestar 3 is expected to reach up to 610 km WLTP and 300 miles EPA. They are two different measuring standards used in respectively Europe and the U.S., and as they are calculated differently, the results also differ. The number won't necessarily indicate the real life performance, but instead functions as a comparison tool between different cars and manufacturers.
The stock price is driven by what finance analyst think, not car experts! Apple stock usually drops after their earnings announcement because (for example) they only made '$30bn' in the quarter, rather than the $35bn analysts thought they would. It always bounces back after a week or two.

People love SUVs? No we do not. The car industry loves SUVs. The main reason for its „popularity“ is, that there are almost only SUV choices for electric cars. I don‘t need a quite inefficient car with sponge like handling and even not offering more space inside. We need estate cars, busses and affordable cars…
Electric cars should be cheaper to encourage people buying them to be able to breath a clean air.. but these prices are too exaggerated. Middle class people will never afford buying electric cars, and it is so sad.

Just very clean and well, automotive like. This is the best company car brand in the world in my opinion. That is partly because they try to truly express their new take on things without holding back, but also not going overboard. Just really good.
With Polestar 3 we present the first Polestar SUV. This is a performance-oriented SUV and has a sleek, wide body with a low roofline and aerodynamic profile. It does include front and rear storage, a cargo capacity of 1411 litres, roof racks, and an optional tow-bar for a towing capacity of 2200 kg.
