I didn't know the slavery in Thai fishing industry before, but soon after I realized how these fishes & Shrimp were caught, my family stopped buying seafood from Thailand.

    This must be STOPPED ASAP.
Only local fishing off the coast of countries is sustainable.

I’m glad we’re being made aware of this. Now let’s do something about it!

Slavery and stole fish or using illegal fishing from other countries. Double crime.

I used to buy chicken of the sea I feel disgusted by this how can the US be selling stuff from slavery

I literally have chicken of the sea in my cabinet right now. American fisherman are getting paid $70-$100,000 a year and they’re complaining about it which it’s a hard job they’re at sea for 9- 18 months at a time so I’ve always been like oh yes they should be making more they’re risking their lives and mental health but to know that Indonesians and africans are only making $3k a year if that, that’s heartbreaking. This needs to change

    Existential crisis?
Imagine wasting a few years as a slave labouring on a fisher boat, being beaten to work harder.
If you are lucky you can make it out and maybe get a settlement for $150 - $200 a month.

but that' is pure profit.. you walk away with say 5 years 12,000 dollars.. walk away from a min wage job in the usa you walk away 12,000 in debt. who's the slave?

    • @justmissjamey
      @justmissjamey 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

stumpedII..everyone is slaves to somethings....law of the universe...just some get money for work to make it seem like they have a choice to live how they want..when reality , they dont.

I hope Americans who buy thai and Indonesian seafood more than any other country see this and stop buying it. I became aware of this through the Netflix documentary called seaspiracy...its sad but most people don't question where their food is coming from especially if it's cheap.

I can’t imagine the contamination that see food have how those poor people can survive in filthy conditions just terrible how far a human can go for money how cruel with animals and cruel with themselves can become just for money and material things. Where goes the decency where the compassion and kindness where.

Sure, we can avoid buying brands of fish and other products involving slave labor, but how much good will that actually do these enslaved workers? What can we do to bring about rescue and change for them beyond our supermarket choices? There must be additional ways to help them.

Personally Itry not to buy any fish, shrimp or sefood that says productof Asia.. I also don't buy chicken of the sea products.. I know I am just one consumer, but if all of us did it. I am sure it would make a diffrence....

The one guy who says all the stories are not true most likely gets a share from the broker for looking the other way. I never knew this and I have brought some of the products.

I am very shameful as a Buddhist. Because Thailand is Buddhist country which means they follow Buddhas Compassion. I believe that all of the Thai men have to become a Buddhist monk in a while. and they call short term ordinations. taking on short term ordinations for any period between a week to three months. Short term ordinations are somewhat unique to Thai Buddhism, with the practice neither common nor expected in many other Buddhist nations. anyway, How is it possible they treat people as slaver....

They call this fish trash fish. Not fit for human consumption. If you treat your pet like part of the family, like me, stay away from Purina products.
